Most A/C repair companies are too busy to sympathize with your situation and just coldly add you to the bottom of the list of service appointments. Rarely scheduled for the day you have called, causing further stress and cost, because now you have to offer refunds or discounts to suffering guests. NOT the situation with ACS! Understanding our predicament, a service tech was dispatched the day we called, a Friday. A special shout-out to U'ilani the dispatcher who repeatedly took my concerned phone calls. She could not have been more reassuring and calming. U'ilani is a customer service pro! Unfortunately, the service tech initially misdiagnosed the problem and the A/C failed again that evening. Frantically, I called the next morning, but now being the weekend, they were closed and I could only leave a message with their answering service - I thought for sure I would have to call again Monday morning. But, NO. Within a couple of hours I received a call from Shirley, ACS VP/Owner! And like U'ilani, actually was very sympathetic to our dilemma and promised to stand by their work and send someone out first thing Monday morning. And that's exactly what happened with an A/C happy ending. An understanding ear and merely a commitment to standing by your work is often the most assuring for a client in need. Thank you, ACS!

The master unit started blowing slightly less cool, we called ACS to look at it and make sure the others are good too. They require a credit card to secure the appointment. Like with other customers, the technicians came out and spent a lot of time (3 hrs!) on nothing, tinkering with stuff haphazardly/"testing the air"/making small talk. He says all he needed to do was add the "tiniest bit of antifreeze" to the master unit this visit. A new sensor was needed later. The company auto bills me for $700. Next, we immediately discover the unit in the living room is now making an awful gyrating sound since they touched it. I email the company about this, asking them to send someone to repair what they broke without charge. A different technician comes. I was unable to be there, so I give him a door code. He enters the home, looks at the unit, calls me to say just to clean it from a kit off Amazon, leaves, then sends me a photo text message asking for a review from his car. He was in my home for 11 minutes. I am again AUTO BILLED for $403 for almost 2 hours of work! I email again with timestamped photos proving he was not there the amount of time he said. Every single person in this company gaslit me. I shouldn't have been responsible for the visit in the first place! I've spent $1200 and now have 2 broken units instead of one. Had I read reviews on all the sites, I would have steered clear. Everyone says the same thing. They do not stand behind their work with integrity. SCAMMERS 0/10

I had them service and repair 4 A/C units, install 2 bathroom exhaust fans, and install a central fresh air fan for my house, and all of this was done in 2 days of work. The technicians were friendly, respectful, conscientious, professional, and expedient. Also, when communicating with the main office for quotes, questions, and scheduling, my emails and phone calls were answered very quickly, and with precisely the information I requested. By any standards, these guys hit a home run, but by East Hawaii standards, these guys launched it into orbit.

This April, almost exactly 4 years later, the system was leaking water and not working. Technician came out, said the coil was leaking. Was here for 2 hours. I asked him what we owed. He said Hilo Air would send us a bill, but it should be about $250 to $300. Hilo Air said the condenser was now 5 years old and past warranty because it was used and we needed a new one. For $7,000. The cost about doubled in 4 years! But that price included the service call. OK. When I asked for a separate bill, they said the service call would be about $378. Today, May 7th, I told them we could not afford a new system, we would go without A/C, and to please invoice us for the service call separately. The new invoice showed the service call now cost $403. For 2 hours of the Tech's time. Hilo Air is not the same company it used to be. I cannot recommend Hilo Air due to their ever changing price quotes. I believe they are using any excuse to gouge their customers. In my opinion they cannot be trusted. Do not use.
