I called 3 different places, the only one who answered was Mike from Kona Air Conditioning. He was so professional and friendly, he knew it was around 83 degrees and humid, and he said he would be out within the hour!! On a Sunday! I cannot tell you in words how much I appreciated that he came out so soon, And he fixed it within the hour!! :) There are not many businesses like you in this world today! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We absolutely 100% recommend Kona Air Conditioning! After all they are the professionals so plenty of options to share! Katie who handles the office, scheduling, client questions...is absolutely awesome as well! We had an air conditioner that had been out of commission for awhile, we had used one contractor who did an expensive patch fix that did not last (it seems that he did not do a complete review of our system and had not fully assessed or even looked at the equipment in our attic) which was quite unfortunate and rather costly, to the contrary Desmond with Kona Air Conditioning took a really good look at the whole system and clearly explained the issue and initial options. They manage a crew of terrific air conditioning professionals that get the job done with minimal disruption to a household. Totally clean, taped off areas and used plastic and drop cloths. Did not even have to cut or expand access points. No excessively long wait times either once we decided to move forward with them. Warranties on service/labor, warranty on parts/new equipment, they handle product registration and any rebates from Hawai'i Energy. We could not be happier with them! To a person every one with their company has been 5 Star terrific, professional, respectful, informative, responsive, customer focused, and just very nice people to deal with even if your grumpy from being hot when your old AC fails. Thanks Kona Air Conditioning, we are going to refer our nearest and dearest to you...and any one reading this review!

Nathan showed up and he was nice and went out of his way to try and get the thing working. This was just to be an appt for an "estimate" but he still tried his best to get this water heater working. No go, it needed all new insides in spite of being brand new. Which were under warranty and shipped to me the following week. He told me the next visit should be around $185. and I was fine with that. The next day I got an email from Steve's stating that the "next visit would be $382. for whatever reason they came back for." This was upsetting as I didn't think I was covered for "labor" under the mfgrs warranty and would have to pay it out of pocket and it was a financial hardship. Almost 80 and existing only on a very meagre SS income. Emailed Steve's to ask why it was so high; no one responded. Then someone emailed after that to ask "how the service went?" and I asked the same question again, about why the estimate almost doubled in price? And again I got no response! When a business ghosts you it's not a good sign. There is clearly room for improvement in the area of communications. I was ready to look for a different plumber when by sheer luck I met someone who knew the manager of their Kona office. This person talked to the manager and explained my situation; the next thing I knew was that Nathan called out of the blue and offered to come back over immediately and install the new parts to get the heater working. He came right over, did the work and didn't mention a thing about money. I was thrilled and willing to pay the $185. he had originally quoted me but he said "no, not necessary" and left!! In the meantime I had found out that I did have labor coverage on the water heater's warranty. I emailed Steve's and reminded them about labor being covered and asked them to please get their money from AO Smith, the manufacturer. I hope they did since they deserve to be paid for their time and work. I was not looking for free work! I would definitely use them again and I would also request Nathan if possible. I must have called at least 4 or 5 other plumbers and only one responded saying he was booked up for the next 6 weeks. Such is life in Hawaii. If I hadn't have met this person who knew the manager this might have been a completely different story...

He communicated the situation to our understanding, and took his time making sure everything was done correctly. He was polite, professional, and cleaned up after himself. Yes, it was expensive however, the quality was worth it. It's also good to know that if there's any problems; I can call Nathan. He's an asset to your company and an employee I would trust.

I…read morecalled ACS a year ago and they said they would call me when they had time to do the cleaning but they NEVER called me back even after I called twice. I just called them again and all the lady did was interrogate me repeatedly asking which company installed it and why aren't I having THEM clean the Split unit etc. OMG, what does that have to do with ANYTHING? Are you doing business with the public or not? I don't enjoy disparaging previous contractors so I just choose to not do business with them again but the (unnamed here) Split AC installers did a terrible job which is why I didn't ask them to do the cleaning. They didn't want to put the AC unit where the previous unit was at then had to move the new unit again after they determined that it wouldn't work where they had tried to put it, Sheesh! Then they didn't fulfill the contract including failing to remove and dispense of the old Split AC unit which I had to get my grandson to help me remove, including other issues. I would NEVER hire them again after they bungled that installation. So WTH does that have to do with hiring ACS anyway? Don't worry, I won't be contacting ACS ever again!

It's always a worry when you desperately need service for something as essential as air…read moreconditioning for a rental property during a guests stay. Most A/C repair companies are too busy to sympathize with your situation and just coldly add you to the bottom of the list of service appointments. Rarely scheduled for the day you have called, causing further stress and cost, because now you have to offer refunds or discounts to suffering guests. NOT the situation with ACS! Understanding our predicament, a service tech was dispatched the day we called, a Friday. A special shout-out to U'ilani the dispatcher who repeatedly took my concerned phone calls. She could not have been more reassuring and calming. U'ilani is a customer service pro! Unfortunately, the service tech initially misdiagnosed the problem and the A/C failed again that evening. Frantically, I called the next morning, but now being the weekend, they were closed and I could only leave a message with their answering service - I thought for sure I would have to call again Monday morning. But, NO. Within a couple of hours I received a call from Shirley, ACS VP/Owner! And like U'ilani, actually was very sympathetic to our dilemma and promised to stand by their work and send someone out first thing Monday morning. And that's exactly what happened with an A/C happy ending. An understanding ear and merely a commitment to standing by your work is often the most assuring for a client in need. Thank you, ACS!
