One of the most beautiful sky dives I've ever had the chance to participate in. Not only did my 62 year old uncle decide to go last minute with me (keeping in mind he has bolts and screws all over his knees and feet), but he had a great time too! We were taken care of from the moment we stepped foot out of the parking lot to the minute we stepped back into it. The staff and team were unbelievably well knowledgeable, with one diver having done over 18000 jumps (Rob) and my tandem diver (Louis) having done 4000. Pilot made sure the ride was very smooth and easy. Barely had any reason to be nervous as I felt so reassured going with this amazing staff (and this was both my uncles and I second time) 10/10 would recommend to anyone. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!! I had a horrible experience. The crew was running over 3 hours behind and going in groups of 2 instead of 3, therefore I was unable to jump with the other members of my party- even though the website says groups of 3 can go together. The staff member Trisha looked me dead in the eyes and promised me a refund, and now the company refuses to give me my money back- I was told to call them and now they won't even respond to me. If I were you, I wouldn't trust these dishonest, disrespectful people if I were jumping out of an airplane. All they care about is money and not the experience of their customers. read more

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! First, I would like to comment on how uncared for they made me feel, like I was only good for my money and they were trying to get every single cent they could. My boyfriend and I wanted to go skydiving for his birthday at the end of May. I contacted Big Island Gravity and they said due to Covid, the first available time was June 1st. So, after many tries to get my info through, we were finally able to sign up. I never received a confirmation email, but instead got a message from some random person because Big Island Gravity sent my personal info to the wrong person! Nevertheless, we were very excited. However, after driving for an hour and both missing a day of work, we found that nothing had been checked out prior to our arrival, even though they knew that the plane had been sitting for a while due to Covid. We waited about an hour on site only to be told something was wrong with the plane and we would need to reschedule. They didn't contact me again for WEEKS, and only responded after I reached out a few times. After they finally responded, they rescheduled us multiple times. On the day we were supposed to go, we had a medical emergency, which we let them know as soon as possible, and rescheduled for the very next day. When we arrived that day, no one was there, and we ended up waiting twenty minutes before anyone showed up. The skydive was fun but definitely not worth the hassle we went through or being completely bruised up from the harnesses. Two days later, I noticed they had charged my account, causing it to be overdrawn, even though I had paid cash like I said I was going to the very first time I contacted them. They were able to refund my money but wouldn't even refund the entire amount! I was told if I wanted the rest of the money, it would have to come out of the instructors' pockets. The owner has been entirely unprofessional, rude, and unreliable. The communication was terrible throughout the entire experience and I also have still not received our videos. I have never had such terrible service in my entire life. read more

My instructor Kristian was calm and confident, friendly but professional, and I loved that during the dive he really told me what to do but also took charge enough that I could just enjoy the ride. Initially, I was nervous and the front desk banter put me off, and I wished it was more professional feeling. First thing, everyone was super polite. I am a fun jumper and there has to be a better way. I was traveling from Oahu (where I live). I called before leaving Oahu and I was told to just show up. As a fun jumper this is not uncommon. I carried all of my gear on the plane from Oahu to the big island. I called two more times after being on the big island and someone took my name and said we'll be looking out for you. I got up, grabbed my gear and started the hour long drive. When I got there with my gear everyone was very friendly and said to go check in. I was told they were on there last load and they had been full all day with the exception of the first load. I was then told "in the future try calling before coming here" I corrected the gentleman saying that I called 3 times. There was nothing to be done and I got to drive an hour back and I will get to carry my gear back to Oahu (which carrying a parachute on a plane can be a TSA nightmare) missing a beautiful view. Service can be a bit on the slower side, but the staff were otherwise great and the experience... well, how can you beat skydiving? We went 12/26/17 for a 9am spot. They have you drive out to Upolu Airport, which is a tiny strip near Ha'wi on the northeastern side of the island. You go down a long narrow dirt road to get to the airstrip. Really nice grassy area next to the coast; you can even see whales breaching from the strip! Notes: - They text ahead of time to let you know if weather conditions aren't good / they need to cancel- we scheduled originally on the 24th but they told us at 7am (we signed up for 9am) that it was windy and rescheduled us for the 26th. - Due to the location, after you initially book the appointment, texting is better since signal is not so great out there. - They will put your name down after you fill out your paperwork so make sure you get it to them quickly - You will most likely wait a few hours before you actually take flight- we signed up for a 9am slot and didn't get airborne until around 11am. This is partially b/c they take only 2 people up at a time (not including the instructors and pilot) and all together the airplane will be in the air for 20+ min before the next load. The plane will also refuel every 2 flights. - No loose items / anything in your pockets. They also don't let you bring your own cameras and such - GoPro video is included in the price of the skydive- you just have to wait 15 min while they pull together and then give it to you on a USB (see below) - Each instructor will take video footage of you before, during, and after the skydive so be prepared to be "interviewed"! - They'll put you into a small plane- be prepared to get cozy with your instructors and partner! It's slightly scary when they leave the door open while the airplane is ascending but the instructors will start strapping you to them so there's less to worry about. - You free fall for 40 sec and the first 10 sec are quite terrifying at first until you hit terminal velocity. Even so, highly recommended you keep your eyes open (they give you goggles to help with this) so you don't miss anything. They'll then open the parachute at around 3,000 feet and if you don't get motion sickness, they'll do a few corckscrews and such until you hit the ground 5 min later. - Total cost is ~$289 per person, including GoPro video All in all, the wait was the low bit of the experience (2 hrs is somewhat excessive), though given the small team working on this operation, could understand that. Also, skydiving in general is one of the most thrilling experiences ever and kudos to them for trying to make it fun and thrilling but safe. So, if you can stomach a potential long wait and jumping out of an airplane, you should look into Big Island Gravity as an option! read more

We had a group of 4 come on a Saturday morning at 8 am. It was pretty empty when we got there. They gave us a quick demonstration and what do in the air and what to do once the parachute opens. All four of us had incredible instructors that jumped out with us. We compared notes on what our instructors did. Some of us had instructors that let you control the parachute for a bit and some of us had instructors that did some cool tricks in the airS It was nerve wracking, but SO MUCH FUN! The plane ride up was one of the best parts because it was like having a helicopter tour. You can see parts of the island that are impossible to reach and you are able to see surrounding islands also. The island is so beautiful and being in the airplane just magnified its beauty even more. I highly recommend this company because the staff is very nice and professional. The only suggestion I have is that you should try to go as early as possible because as we were about to leave there were groups of people showing up after us. Our group of 4 arrived at 8am and there was one group in the air. By the time we were all done jumping, there were at least 3 groups already waiting. read more

Decided to take my boyfriend skydiving as a birthday surprise while on the big island. It was amazing! I was absolutely TERRIFIED but the team at B.I.G. was incredible, so calm and reassuring. There were 4 people in our group so we had to go in two groups, as the plane can only fit 3 tandems. The flight up is incredible!! You see tons of waterfalls and gorgeous cliffs of Kohala. The scariest moment is actually exiting the plane, but my instructor Adam was super reassuring and didn't give me time to second guess it. After that, you free fall for 30-40 secs -- it feels like you're flying!! Such a rush. Once the parachute launches, it's another 5-6 mins to the ground. It's really mellow & Beautiful views! The only downside of our visit was the long wait time. We had an 8am meeting time and arrived right at 8, as one group was landing. We had to wait for them to re-pack everything after that group, then another group to jump and re-pack, so it was nearly 2 hours before our first group could go. Still giving it 5 stars because Warren, Adam and JR were amazing and we had an incredible time. I can't imagine a more beautiful place to skydive! read more

I feel so completely disrespected by this company. They double booked the hour before us and they canceled only our flight. They're letting both the double booked hour go in our place and the flight after ours go as well and we drove all the way down to the airport. This company is a complete mess and their lack of communication is obnoxious. I'm absolutely furious. The lack of scheduling this entire week has ruined our trip. Not only did Kristy lie about why our trip was canceled, saying it was for bad wind conditions and then later admitting it was poor scheduling but did absolutely nothing to compensate us for our lost time. And we did not even get a text informing us our flight would be canceled until 15 minutes before our scheduled take off time as we were pulling up. The owner Dave Rintala has been ignoring our calls and texts since this issue. read more

Horrible experience, inhumane staff. I booked our tandem jumps 2 weeks in advance. The time was changed from 4 pm to 9 am, 12 hours before the jump. When I called to ask the reason, the receptionist screamed at me that she is too busy to update hours online. After adjusting our schedule and driving 2 h to the airport, we were told 3 jumpers could not jump together. I asked why I was not told this earlier, and she unapologetically shrugged and told me "normal" people would be happy to jump, implying I was abnormal. Then, they would not answer safety questions we had about the waivers or the equipment, saying that most people don't even read the forms and pressuring us to sign without reading. When I had questions about the safety of the gear and what I was supposed to do during landing, the jumpers literally said they would not answer my questions. I was left ignorant, which in retrospect is extremely unsafe- I could have broken a leg. I should also have the right as a customer to feel safe, which I did not at all. My guy (called himself mustache man) was on his phone the entire plane ride, kept headphones in the entire jump and would not answer any of my questions. I left the experience in horrible spirits, feeling unsafe, violated, frustrated, and shaking with anxiety. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. I highly suggest you take your business elsewhere. read more

My family and I were visiting Hawaii for the first time, and on a whim my brother and I decided it would be the perfect location to skydive for the first time! The staff was fantastic and very professional. We got there about half an hour early before our scheduled time, and they got us up there pretty quickly after we filled out all of the paperwork and our instructors went over the basics. Rob was a great instructor, he made me feel very safe and prepared, and he made the experience so much fun! You go up in this tiny plane and coast around for a while to see these incredible views of the island and the ocean. I didn't realize how high we would be, you can even see Maui across the way! Before you know if you're out of the airplane and in freefall. The feeling was so cool, it actually feels like you're floating. Once Rob opened up the parachute, he let me help steer the parachute for a while and we did some twisty motions that were a lot of fun. They film the entire experience with a GoPro and uploaded our videos super quickly, I think by the next day. Highly recommend doing this if you'll be on the Big Island! read more

I am so disappointed in this company. I arrived on time for my 10:00 am dive on 12/24/20 with two other people. First of all, in the email sent to us prior to our dive as well as on their website, they clearly stated to limit your group to three if you all wanted to stay together and jump together. Upon arriving they told us we would have to split up into two groups as they could only do two at once. We specifically limited our group to three so we could avoid doubling our amount of time spent there. After waiting for 2 and 1/2 hours one of my members and I finally got to go. They were so behind that we physically couldn't stay at the sky dive place for the last member of our group to go. Tricia, the woman working the front desk told our third member who was worried about timing that she could opt to not dive and offered her a refund. She gave her a phone number to call once we were back into cell service to arrange the refund. That was seven days ago. Initially we were allowing some time with the holidays, but they aren't returning any of our calls or emails. They have charged us $320 for our third jumper that never went because they were running three hours behind. This is ridiculous and I would not recommend this company. They are unprofessional and unreliable. read more

We were there for the first jump on Mother's Day. It's a very small airstrip and they have the smallest plane I have ever flown in. The pilot, Jeff, handled that tiny plane like it was a part of him. I never felt unsafe or even uncomfortable. All of the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all of our questions and treated us like we were the only thing that mattered while we were there. Our instructors were clearly experts and they made us feel very comfortable and safe. My personal instructor talked the whole time about what we were seeing and flying over. He even pointed out and named the 5 volcanoes we could see! He also willingly and intentionally put us into a spin after the jump and before deploying the parachute. I wish I could remember his name. I am crap with names. It was such a thrill! I would recommend this company to anybody who is considering a skydiving experience. Also, I highly recommend the experience! It's hard to describe how alive and exhilarated I felt. The skydiving itself was cool and I'd definitely do it again but I rated it 3 stars because I believed that I was going to get the actual footage and pictures for my own free editing but instead they uploaded their own video version up to YouTube which is cool and all but would've HIGHLY preferred to do my own editing for my own personal style. Staff was cool and lay back, would def recommend but if you plan on making your own videos make sure to have your own camera/memory card I guess. read more

This was an absolutely breathtaking skydive and would definitely do it again! I found Big Island Gravity skydive on an internet search of skydiving in the big island. I just texted the number on the website and was able to book a reservation for both my dad and me. Getting to the location was straightforward, the only downside is there is just one port-o-potty to use. We arrived a bit early and filled out the paperwork, then found out that our dive was a bit delayed because of the weather (very cloudy). But David (also known as Happy) gave us a good estimate of wait time and some recommendations of what to do in the area while we waited. He was also very apologetic for the delay and appreciated our patience. So in the meantime we were able to drive to the Pololu Valley lookout. Once back we went into the air fairly quickly. The plane takes two tandem divers at a time. I was with Wilbur and my dad with Daniel. Both instructors were great, really kind and lots of fun. What's great about this dive is you get a little tour of Hawaii too! Because we waited, the weather had cleared up and we were able to see all the waterfalls and valleys on the north side! The actual jump was exhilarating and couldn't be timed better (coincided perfectly with the sunset). We can't wait for the video! My recommendation for those who book here is don't plan other activities for the day, since you can't predict what the weather will be. Booked an appt from 10 to 11. Expected to go up in that range. Email said that to expect to be there for 2 to 4 hours. THEY ARE NOT KIDDING. When we got there we were told it would take at least 4 hours for us to go up and we probably wont be able to go that day. Appts mean nothing and be sure to book as early as possible because you will not get to go if you get there at 10am. Ive been to a few skydiving places and each place I was in the air within an hour. When we got there people had gotten there at 9am for a 10am appt and were told to come back at 2pm. They clearly dont care about people vacation time, since they think its acceptable to book an appt and then have people wait 4 hours to actually go up. read more

Okay so me and 11 other co workers of mine went here for Memorial Day which is May! Keep that in mind. We all woke up super early and met here at 8am because we were scheduled to jump at 8:30/9:00am. They have one small plane so five people go up at a time, you, your partner, the two professional skydivers and then the pilot. When we got there it seemed like everything was already unorganized because the two skydivers jumping with us WEREN'T THERE YET! So here we are waiting for our turn time goes by 10am finally comes around and they finally show up. Takes them another hour to prep everything my bf and I decided to be the first to jump out so we didn't have to wait any longer. So the instructor that I got wasn't very talkative but the guy my bf had was a little more stoked and made it exciting was recording everything and my guy barely recorded anything. We finally get up in the air jumped out and the instructor I got was super boring didn't do flips, didn't make it fun at all. Then they had told us the charging price was going to be $210 EACH since we came as a group and then when the time came they charged us $245 each and then wrote down on credit cards numbers on a piece of paper (talk about sketch) they even charged my co workers credit card TWICE and had to give her a refund days later, and now it's September after calling and contacting them WE NEVER RECEIVED ANY VIDEO OR PICTURES AND WERE OVERCHARGED FOR THINGS WE NEVER RECEIVED!!!!
