He checked certifications, discussed conditions, made sure we understood the risks, and confirmed we were prepared to abort the dive if conditions were unsafe. Professional, responsible, and respectful. Then there was Tracy. She was rude, dismissive, condescending, and openly unpleasant. I also heard the way she spoke about other customers when they were not present. Based on what I personally witnessed, this went beyond bad customer service. In scuba diving, attitude can become a safety issue. Divers must feel comfortable asking questions, raising equipment concerns, questioning conditions, and saying they are not comfortable. An employee who makes customers feel stupid or unwelcome for doing that can discourage exactly the communication that keeps people safe. I would not personally trust Tacy in a safety-critical interaction after what I witnessed. I also personally heard her make a comment to the effect of, "just take it from the lost and found." I am not accusing her of stealing anything. I am stating what I personally heard, and I found the comment inappropriate and concerning for someone working in a business trusted with customers' equipment and property. The contrast with Brad was dramatic. He handled the same circumstances professionally and treated us like adults. Afterward, I spoke with other local divers who described similar negative experiences with Tina. I cannot independently verify their experiences, so they can speak for themselves. I can only speak for mine. I believe management should seriously consider whether Tina Davis should continue representing this business. If this were my company, I would terminate her employment. I have also submitted these concerns to PADI Quality Management / Quality Assurance for independent review. For the avoidance of doubt, this review also puts management and ownership on notice of the safety and judgment concerns I personally observed. If a future incident involves similar conduct, ignored diver concerns, or unsafe shortcuts, I would be willing to testify truthfully under oath about what I personally witnessed, heard, and reported here. Brad deserves recognition. Tacy is the reason this review is one star.

When we spotted whales surfacing nearby, mate Shaun dropped a microphone over the side and we were treated to the chorus of multiple humpbacks singing all around us - unbelievable! The crew kept us supplied with healthy snacks and hydration and good information about the baby, mother and male escort whales we were seeing. He expertly and calmly guided us in snorkeling during the day and at night. We wanted an intimate experience rather than being with a big boat filled with strangers. This was perfect! Captain Steve was precisely on time for meeting us at the dock and beginning our sail. He and his 1st mate, Sarah, were attentive but not intrusive. They made us feel welcome, served us cold beverages and pupus. My daughter experienced a little seasickness and Sarah quietly noticed and brought her some ginger which helped to calm her belly. By the end of the cruise, my daughter was only wishing we had another hour to sail! I would highly recommend this small family owned company the next time you want to go out on the ocean. As a matter of fact, I loved it so much in March, I went on another one right after!! We saw so many incredible whales!!! Shane, the owner and his talented son Andrew and their staff including Kelsey give great informative commentary all along. This time, Andrew actually held the boat out there a bit longer as he spotted another whale!! We even saw a ton of adorable spinner dolphins gyrating out of the water! The highlight was a mama humpback with her 2-4 week old newborn calf. Why did he know that?? The size. They grow from 1500 lbs to 3000 lbs the first month!! They eat about 50 gallons of milk per day. Super interesting and super FUN!!!! We just home late last night but I'm already going to go back in February as that is the best month for multiple sightings. It's the best part of being in HAWAII!! I talked to Kelly on the phone and she was amazing ! and very patient answering all my questions, I had a lot lol since this was our first time. Looking at weather and surf conditions, she assured us Tuesday would be a great am for lessons. We drove down to Kona from Waikoloa ~30 min drive. Meet up was near a wharf, where we found free 2 hour parking off of Ali'i drive. Met up with our instructor Mark 830 am - a super friendly and understanding dude and he made us feel at ease. He went over some instructions with us regarding the board, how to, safety, and possible route. He warned us, looking at the windsock, it was a little windy, waters might be rough, but that we could make it work. Life vests were available, I wore one since I'm not the greatest swimmer. The boards were really cool, with the upper half containing a clear glass portion for views of marine life in the ocean. In the evenings, they offer lit up SUP boards. When I got onto the water, the waves were soooooo choppy, I immediately felt seasick- nauseous and dizzy, I was only able paddle for less than a half hour. Hubby was able to stand up a few times, but soon was washed off the board due to the waves. Mark noted that it was definitely advanced waters kinda day. We weren't able to enjoy as much as we had liked to or be out the two hours allotted. But, he made us feel comfortable and was so kind. He shared with us all the videos and pics he took of our am. He called and left a message with Kelly, the owner, of our uneventful morning. I messaged Kelly as well, and she did not charge us. Mahalo! We definitely tipped Mark for his time, kindness, and patience : ) This is a wonderful small owned company that cares about its clients! Check them out!
