My girlfriend and I went on a UTV tour yesterday, and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. The off-roading itself was so fun, and the views were unreal, but what really made the experience stand out were our guides, Jericho and Samson. At every stop, they shared stories that brought the history of Kohala to life. The way they told them was so vivid and engaging that it made each location meaningful, not just scenic. You could tell they genuinely care about what they do and about sharing the culture and history of the area. You know that amazing feeling when you find a mom and pop hole in the wall restaurant with amazing food? This is that feeling, but for UTV driving. I brought my gf and my parents to this tour. The tour was just the four of us, so it felt very private and VIP haha. Jericho and Nathaniel were our tour guides. They were amazing, knowledgeable, friendly, and took so many pictures for all of us. They even stopped us at more viewpoints since we had time to spare as our group was just the four of us. The tour had everything. Whether you wanted to enjoy a scenic view, or a waterfall, or the chaos of a UTV drive. There was something to love for everyone. The drive was almost 2.5 hours I'd say, but I lost track of time as I didn't check my phone once. I just didn't want this adventure to end. Highly highly recommend. So fun! Our concierge had recommended this activity for our family of 5 and we thought it would be a fun way to see the Big Island. It was about a 40 min drive from where we were staying on Hapuna Beach, but we found most things were that far away...and well worth it. Since we are a family of 5 we had to get 2 UTVs so both my husband and I got to drive. I was a little nervous at first, but we did a practice round before they let us loose. My daughter kept telling me I was soooo slow, but soon I got comfortable driving this golf cart on steroids and was flying right behind my husband. There were a few scary parts, but overall it was just plain fun! We stopped 3 times to take pictures with the beautiful views and waterfall and they even had a little snack break (water and bars). The UTV experience was about 2-2.5 hours + we drove 15 min to and from the facility. We stopped in town to enjoy a delicious lunch before heading back to our resort and all 5 of us agree it was one of our favorite activities in Hawaii. read more

I took the family on an adventure in the beautiful Kohala area where it's so scenic. We had so much fun driving the UTV big enough for 4 people. The guides were fantastic, safety focused and told us great stories about the culture and history of the area. We saw beautiful landscapes, a waterfall and traversed in areas not open to the public. Tip for folks - you will get really dusty so it's best to wear long pants and to bring a change of clothes. I didn't have sneakers so I wore my water shoes that covered my toes. They have wipes you can use afterwards. This was the most fun we've had so far on the big island and would highly recommend, especially for folks who want to drive a UTV and do some safe off roading with the fam or group of people. read more

Kohala UTV was the highlight of our trip to the Big Island. This is a 'must do' if you go to Hawaii. The northern part of the island is so beautiful. Our guides, Henry and Nato, were so much fun and very knowledgeable of the area and the Hawaiian history. We had so much fun in the muddy puddles! My 8 year old son and I did this yesterday. There's nothing better than the pure sweet joy of hearing children laugh and "chee hoo" from the top of their lungs. He wants to go back already! The guides are amazing! We had 2 in the van and then 3 on the ride. Luckily we were the first utv after the front guide. My son kept saying faster and more puddles! Personally, I prefer mud & rain over dust but we can't control the weather. They have gear for both which is very nice. We drove 1.5 hours from Kailua to Hawi, it was worth the drive. After, we had lunch and then ice cream in the old town. I highly recommend them. We will be back. Thank you everyone. read more

Burnell, Jericho and Isaiah get plenty ALOHA and made locals feel right at home. We live on the Big Island but there's no way you'd get to see the views of North Kohala unless you come on this tour. We loved the education on the 8 Valleys, the islands facing Pololu and the legacy of the Hawaiian people still living and working the area today. Jericho is full of life and energy and is clearly passionate about sharing his home with others but also emphasizes respect for the land and people. Most impressive of all, he caught 2 pigs during our ride. Unbelievable. Waterfalls, breathtaking views, mud, pigs, cow pies, you name it. So much fun!!! A absolute adventure - MUST do!!! Our family, all 17 of us had such an awesome time. Every single person on their staff were so hospitable and welcoming. They taught us so much about their island while showing us such a great time. Henry and Isaiah were our adventure tour guides and had us smiling the entire time. CheeeeeeeeeeeeHooooooooooooooo!! What an absolutely fantastic tour. Right from the start, meeting with Henry and Bernelle was great as they talk story with us and share their history with the North Kohala area. After a quick ride to the ranch (more talk story and pointing out points of interest, more importantly where to eat after the tour) we got introduced to our instructors/guides/kumus/local bradahs/comedy crew, Jericho and Isaiah. Full safety outfitting, driving briefing, and test track loops made sure all drivers were comfortable with riding and controlling the UTV. We have been on UTV rides before, but Kohala definitely has adventurous trails and the UTVs were well up to the task - no one had any issues. Trails were amazing with mix of grass areas, open hills, tropical rainforest, river crossings, and epic vistas over the Kohala coast and valley inlets. Several stops to take in the scenery, snap pictures, and listen to Jericho and Isaiah talk story about the history and lore of this beautiful area - really outstanding and knowledgeable representatives of the aloha spirit. You can just feel the pride they have for the lands they share with us. Although Jericho didnt snag a wild pig during this trip, he promise next time for sure - haha.
