The atmosphere was awesome, we came in for the funkadelics on cassette and left with more than we could've ever wished for, the lady introduced us to a few new bands that we could check out, she had a great personality and a vast knowledge of music, 10/10 would recommend stopping in for all your musical needs, cassettes, vinyls, and CDs. read more

Lovely place to shop for bluegrass and classic rock vinyl. My husband and I stayed in Blue Ridge for a few days and visited the quaint downtown area a few times. We were pleasantly surprised to discover Big Frog. Not only they have a large selection of vinyl but also CDs and merchandise. We were greeted by the owner, a very warm and friendly lady, who offered to play any vinyl we wanted before purchase. We not only ended up listening to fabulous music but also bought a unique Foreigner vinyl and spent time talking to the owner and getting to know life in Blue Ridge. Fascinating. Do not miss! I was excited to see that Blue Ridge had a record store while we visited on our vacation. We made a point to stop in and check it out and see if they had anything we could add to our collection. It was mostly classic rock and we had most of them, so I inquired about a record that was released for Record Store Day. It took the woman behind the counter a few minutes to notice us because she had her back turned towards us and was shopping on Amazon. When she did notice us, I inquired and she was a little condescending, saying that "she wouldn't have ordered that." I'm assuming it was because the album I was inquiring about wasn't classic rock. Other than that, it was an average record store. They had a large collection of CDs and some new and older vinyl. I think that working on their customer service skills would help them. read more

I received a reply from the store. I still stand by my review. The conversation I heard was not PRIVATE. I was a mere 4 feet from the "back corner" (aka the cash register area) so there was no way for me to avoid "eavesdropping." I went there to shop for vinyl, not get involved in a political discussion, as it was suggested I do. Yes, you have a right to your opinion, and so do I. Everyone has their opinions on many topics. Being President of the GREATEST country in the world is a very difficult job and he isn't always going to please everyone all the time-I know that. But whomever is President deserves a certain amount of respect. Anyway, I was not hiding behind my computer. I rarely write anything about a business-good or bad. But I read some reviews about this business and they did not reflect the store I visited. So, I had to share my view of this business so people can make an educated decision. I stand by my review, which was not insulting as stated in the owner's reply. She said I did not give an ACTUAL review of the business. Well here it is: The customer service is non-existent. When we entered the store, we were not greeted nor were we asked if we needed any assistance. But one positive, you did have a big selection of vinyl albeit some priced high like The Rolling Stones albums displayed on the walls-almost $10-$15 more than I have seen in other record stores. read more

Nice to have a variety of stores in Blue Ridge. We purchased an (new) album in the store on one of our weekend visits. Upon returning home the album skipped each time in the same spot. We own multiple albums and have no issues with other albums, just this one spot on this album. We called the store and they said just return the album on your next visit. Great. Went to return the album today. They played the album in the store, and while it did not skip, there was noticeable static in the exact area of the song that skipped at home. They said that was due to our poor care and not a manufacturing issue. Really, after 3 plays on the first day with a skip in the exact same location? Because it did not skip on their turntable, they would not return the album. We wanted to support small independent local stores knowing you can purchase the same album cheaper at Walmart. Disappointed customer that will be taking their business elsewhere. read more

This is the kind of music store you wish you had in your neighborhood. Not the widest of selections (rock on 1 side of the store, country/bluegrass on the other), but a great combination of popular and obscure music and an owner who can give great recommendations based on your taste. I'll be coming back whenever I'm in town. read more
