Is Negative 10 stars possible? Raul from BigE tried to tell me he couldn't tow my minivan onto his flatbed because it didn't have power. I asked him if he had a jumper box, and he conveniently said, Ooops, mine broke last week. No towing service truck leaves its garage without it. It's like a plumber forgetting his wrench, or a carpenter forgetting his measure tape. They don't have just one, they have many to make sure they never fail to get their hands on one.
Here comes the kicker: once Raul left, AAA sent another request to Big E for a tow truck that was equipped with a wheeled lift dolly. They said it was going to take an hour, so I waited. At the 57th minute, BigE cancelled the order because there was no driver available.
I realized it's a scam when another tow truck driver came from San Marcos to Cedar Park to help me out. He had the same flat bed truck and had a jumper box that jumped the car instantly and was able to get the minivan on the tow truck. He said there are lots of guys running that same scam around town because they want to get paid cash and not via AAA. This blew away 5 hours of my time today. This ordeal started at 4:30pm and ended at 11pm; but I learned my lesson. Always carry a jumper box and an inflator for your tires in your car.
I can't trust a AAA tech either because he "tried" to the jump the car and said it didn't work when my wife was there. I bet he didn't even plug the leads in.
