Honestly.. I hate to say this.. I was at a lakeside event and thought to myself.. Lemme give these guys a try and a tri tip sandwich sounded darn good. I ordered that with a side of mac and cheese. $20 later I was given a plate with what looked like a delicious sandwich and Mac and cheese. I went to pick up the sandwich and the bottom bun must have had that meat sitting on it for 10 min.. It was completely soggy and had to use a fork to try and eat the meat which had a substantial amount of fat I should have taken it back. The Mac and cheese my kid lives.. He took one bite and didn't eat any of the rest.. I didnt either. . It was Luke warm.. And very little of any flavor. Comon guys.. If you're gonna have $20 sandwich out there.. Make it memorable. Switch out the bun.. For goodness sakes.. It would have made a big difference. You were not busy.. And even if you were.. Do the right thing. read more

Please don't let my terrible photos stop you from eating this delicious BBQ. Yes, the prices are a little steep (similar to the prices charged by ALL food trucks) but you get a TON of absolutely delicious BBQ. We tried the pulled pork sandwich and the smoked beef sandwich. They were both terrific and you get an absolutely MOUND of meat with both dishes. The BBQ sauce used was a tad sweet but not too sweet. Both proteins were incredibly tender and juicy. We also tried the mac and cheese and beans and, as with the meats, you get a ton of whatever side you order (you get one side per plate). The mac was a little dry but still delicious. The beans were smoky and OUT OF THIS WORLD TERRIFIC. I'm not kidding. These are life-changing beans, if there can be such a thing. I travel far and wide for good BBQs. I went to the Indio BBQ Festival on Saturday and there were loads of people, games, and music BUT the BBQ was awful!!!!! Most vendors did not even have BBQ Ribs. The one that did was a local restaurant whose ribs were 4 for $12. but they were not cooked on site and bought in and they were dry as the Sahara desert. My next try was BIG DEV'S BBQ. The smell from their area was good thanks to the sausage and onions on the grill. after waiting in line for 45 minutes, they HAD NO BBQ RIBS AT ALL. So I got the sausage/onions a side of mac & cheese and a beverage. It cost me 30 dollars!!!!!! The sausage was overcooked and hard on the ends, the onions were placed inside the roll first leaving the bread soggy (they should be placed on top of the sausage). The mac and cheese was COLD.....not even close to hot or even warm. I TOOK TWO BITES OF EACH AND TOSSED THE FOOD IN THE TRASH. This BIG DEV'S place was super disappointing and a waste of my time and money. So when all else fails, YOU GO BUY PIZZA. STEVE O's PIZZA was fresh out of the oven, pipping hot and tasty. I attended the recent Temecula wine and food festival this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day and big Dev's down home was one of the food trucks that were providing delicious food for the attendees. I initially did not try big Dev's barbecue as my wife wanted to have a lobster grilled cheese. I should note that there was a silent auction going on and I was able to bid and win a donation from big Dev's where he donated a huge tray of smoked barbecue beef ribs. My family loves beef ribs and so I was thrilled to be taking home his bbq. After the festival, I had a 2 Hour drive back home to West Los Angeles so I was smelling that good barbecue all the way home. Once I did get home I then opened the tray and couldn't believe how generous big Dev down-home was, there were so many bones in there with his meaty beef ribs. I eventually had a beef rib the following day for lunch and it was so delicious so well smoked great flavor. I am looking forward to making barbecue beef rib sliders for a family reunion in a couple of weeks so I'll be sure to post pictures of that on this review as well. We met at Santee lakes this past weekend with friends who we haven't seen in six months or so. We were a few couples getting back together. One friend talked to the Cook and asked about his smoke style of cooking. And the response from the cook was pretty much ripping our friend a new butt hole. This guy that owned the truck was very rude I did not want to eat what he was putting out anyway. If it had actually been a sandwich which there was a bottom bun you couldn't pick it up because it was so soaked in grease it was yellow. That particular friend had his own barbecue/smoke truck for sometime. He never would've spoken to customers in the way this guy did. When we got our food, which we begrudgingly ordered, because we were waiting on long time friends, it was a combination of total grease, beef jerky and burnt meat. The purported wine barbecue sauce was flat and only Tasted of cayenne there was no nuance, no depth of flavor whatsoever. That was the one thing I was really hoping would redeem the whole boat that we had to pay $10 for. There also was no relief from any of the grease by way of any sort of vegetable even a coleslaw or something would've helped. It was absolutely disappointing and then when another couple who we hadn't seen for many months also joined us, we tried to talk them out of buying anything and they still did but a different product than the group of us previously had ordered and I asked him how was it and he just shrugged not great was his comment. If the guy on the truck hadn't been so absolutely rude and stating "I am a grill master". I don't have time to smoke, it needs to be done on high heat! I probably wouldn't even post this but he was just totally rude! I would never recommend this place for anyone no matter what their Facebook page says which they can go alter. Sorry dude but you're a tool and you're not a grill master. I know some who are. read more

Found this gem at the carlsbad Villegas street fair and I couldn't be more happy with my food choice. I got the bbq chicken plate with Mac and cheese and it was SO GOOD. The chicken fell right off the bone, they have the best bbq sauce I've ever tasted and the Mac and cheese was amazing. I'm hoping I can find this place again soon! Highly highly highly recommend! Delicious! Had this at stagecoach and I think it was my favorite BBQ yet. Loved the pork ribs and the sweet and spicy beans! Perfect amount of sweetness and spiciness. Kind of pricey. It was $13 a plate, and I assumed that it would be an actual plate.... since all the other BBQ trucks nearby were $5 an item. However, it was the smallest tiniest plate ever. Ok. Being from Georgia, I have been struggling for years to find truly good BBQ. So, I have to say I was skeptical at first. However, I must say, this is by far the BEST BBQ in California! From the macaroni and cheese to the pulled pork, it was AMAZING! Tender and juicy with just the right amount of smokey flavor. The portions were easily enough to split between two people. Their food truck was in the Sorrento Valley area. Menu was pretty small and simple. I think the menu changes daily. On the menu it was $13 for Ribs & Rolls. I ordered that and requested their sweet & spicy beans instead of the rolls. The guy was nice about it and said ok. My food was put on a regular paper plate and not a to-go box. I got 3 decent sized rib pieces but a very small portion of the beans. The ribs were ok - they weren't tender and the sauce put on it was kind of watery. The beans were really good tho. Not too bad, just disappointed with the price paid and the portion received. They take cash and credit payments. read more

Every Tuesday, at 2PM, Big Dev drives his big van full of delicious BBQ to the Grand Farmers market (at the corner of Grand and Juniper. My buddy and I were greeted warmly by Dev and were immediately hit with the euphoric smell of slow cooked BBQ. I had myself the Brisket plate which comes with a generous helping of brisket on a bbq sauce slathered bun. On the side are Dev's delicious baked beans. I can safely say that it was some of the best BBQ I've ever had! I had Big Dev's for the first time at Living Free Music festival today (9/24/16). Best BBQ I have had west of Texas.
