This huge tray of smoked beef ribs was heavy!
    Carey T.

I attended the recent Temecula wine and food festival this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day and big Dev's down home was one of the food trucks that were providing delicious food for the attendees. I initially did not try big Dev's barbecue as my wife wanted to have a lobster grilled cheese. I should note that there was a silent auction going on and I was able to bid and win a donation from big Dev's where he donated a huge tray of smoked barbecue beef ribs. My family loves beef ribs and so I was thrilled to be taking home his bbq. After the festival, I had a 2 Hour drive back home to West Los Angeles so I was smelling that good barbecue all the way home. Once I did get home I then opened the tray and couldn't believe how generous big Dev down-home was, there were so many bones in there with his meaty beef ribs. I eventually had a beef rib the following day for lunch and it was so delicious so well smoked great flavor. I am looking forward to making barbecue beef rib sliders for a family reunion in a couple of weeks so I'll be sure to post pictures of that on this review as well. Thank you Big Dev, can't wait to cross paths

Amazing BBQ! The ribs fall of the bone, the chicken is full of flavor, and beans are amazing! He is usually only at street fairs, but he also does catering. If you see his booth you have to give him a try.

    $13 ribs and beans

Their food truck was in the Sorrento Valley area. Menu was pretty small and simple. I think the menu changes daily. On the menu it was $13 for Ribs & Rolls. I ordered that and requested their sweet & spicy beans instead of the rolls. The guy was nice about it and said ok. My food was put on a regular paper plate and not a to-go box. I got 3 decent sized rib pieces but a very small portion of the beans. The ribs were ok - they weren't tender and the sauce put on it was kind of watery. The beans were really good tho. Not too bad, just disappointed with the price paid and the portion received. They take cash and credit payments.

The meaty beans are the best.

The chicken fell right off the bone, they have the best bbq sauce I've ever tasted and the Mac and cheese was amazing.

I really appreciate their professionalism and attention to detail. Andy even came before the event to scope out the space and do a dry run. Second, the food was amazing! We had a work event for 275 people. I continue to hear from coworkers how good the food was. You must order the roasted pig- the star of the show. We also had the island style fish and huli huli chicken. Highly recommend both. Loved the sides and the dessert was amazing! I could eat the banana bread with chocolate chips and coconut butter mochis every day. Yum. Thanks again for an amazing event!

Out of a 5 star rating, I would give 100 !!! Kalei's Kitchenette, I can not thank you enough for…read moresuch a caring and personalized service, INCREDIBLE food, and new friendships made. I originally wanted them to cater my wedding and while we didnt quite go that direction, I loved them so much and wanted to support them so badly that I circled back with them for my DREAM rehearsal lunch. I had a crazy idea that I wanted to do a kamayan style lunch to celebrate my Filipino heritage and they were not only super onboard but even brought the flowers to bring it to life (unexpected and almost made me cry lol). Garlic Chicken, Lechon , Lumpia , Veggie Medley , Garlic Rice, Pancit - it was all SO GOOD. My family and friends told me they were drooling over it like 10 times before we could even give our thank you speech to start the meal - and once eaten, everyone RAVED and also kept asking where the food was from (which of course I raved about back). A huge mahalo to Khara who has been the sweetest soul and rock to lean on when bringing the vision to life , Morgan who stepped in with administrative coordination, Chef Andy of course for the DELICIOUS meal(s), and the whole Kalei's Kitchenette ohana. This will not be the last of me, my family, or my friends , so until next time! Thank you so much again!
