Big Burns was supposed to move my son from NC to GA. Steve with Big Burns was nice and communicative and said he could do it in one day. So we hired them. Moving day: one mover shows up with a U-Haul one hour late. Said mover 2 was on the way and also said he just found out he was doing our move yesterday. He moved the sofa from third floor apt to parking lot then told my son that mover 2 couldn't find the apt so he was going to meet him at the gas station and was it ok to leave the sofa in the parking lot. He said ok as the guy was supposedly coming back. He didn't come back. My son called Steve and gave him a piece of his mind and Steve hung up on him. Then took his call and said he needed to be respectful. Then in a subsequent call he blamed us for "ok'ing" the guy to leave and leave the sofa in the parking lot as if we have any control over his employee. Steve then proceeded to be upset with us because his employee quit. Whole thing was absurd and unprofessional and left us in a predicament. We solved it with professional and dedicated moving companies. However, moving is stressful enough to have to deal with the drama that ensued. read more

Scheduling and management is poor, but the movers themselves did a good job. Management canceled on me while waiting on them between 3-6pm. Said they'd come 8am the next day. They came but were also 30 minutes late. No apology or anything. Movers did good and got everything done though. read more

I never leave reviews Big Burn Moving tried to rip me off!!!! Don't trust this company with your move. It's not worth it!! Don't be the next victim!!! I had to fire them and just pay them for what they done after I observe them stopping at 7-11 for 45 mins for long lunch on my hourly rate, sitting in the truck for 15 mins at a time without doing any work, and moving 2 small fluffy pillows at a time instead of moving the furniture. They were moving incredibly slow on everything. A called to report what I was observing to the manager who gotten extremely defensive, made sarcastic unprofessional statements toward the validity of what I was observing and then hung up on me. The once nice guy sending quotes turn into a guy that has half your furniture in his truck abusing his power over your moving predicament. With no doubt in my mind, I truly believe they were attempting to dishonestly run up a hourly bill on me. I never had to fire a company before but this was beyond unacceptable working behavior. Even after I fired them for poor performance they gave me a bill higher than what was quoted. This company in my opinion does not operate with trustworthiness and integrity. Consumers need to beware of this company and do not hire this company to move your home. I would advise someone to go with a larger moving company, with a longer history of quality work, with an corporate office, that value your concerns. Luckily I was able to recognize the signs of being ripped off and put a stop to it prior to it costing me a ton of money!!!. I ultimately ended up just getting an U-Haul and moving the furniture myself. read more

Had to complete the most exciting yet most tedious task today. One thing I absolutely hate doing is moving. This company is the best. The 2 guys that came out were extremely polite and took care of my belongings as though they were their own. Of course with the wonderful Florida weather we got hit with a huge afternoon rainstorm. They were worried about our belongings and wanted to make sure that they took care of all items and that nothing had water damage. Upon arriving to our new house they were excellent with putting our items in the proper rooms. Although I hate moving and hope I never do it again, I will use them again in a heart beat and will recommend them to anyone. read more

The movers were scheduled to arrive between 8-8:30 a.m. I received a call around 9:00 a.m. stating that there were "internal issues" and they would be arriving by 9:30 a.m. The truck arrived at 10:45 a.m. The movers took very little care when loading and unloading the furniture and did a lot of damage to my items. The key on the rolling tool box was broken off, the top of my new freezer had dents and scratches, one bed and the kitchen table were scratched. I was helping a friend pack for a move, and was there the day the movers came. Honestly, I was deeply impressed. The two young men were courteous, hard working, and efficient. They took extreme care with all of her belongings, asked appropriate questions as needed, took direction well and except for brief breaks to hydrate due to the heat they never stopped moving. Spare yourself from being violated and victimized by this company!!!! I spoke with the owner, at length, about our move. For a 840 sq. ft. house, he wanted to know every piece of furniture that we had. I told him that we also had a cargo trailer of boxes that we would have loaded in advance, and would need to be unloaded by his crew. I also had a 2 X 2 ft personal document safe. He said that they charged extra for gun safes. I explained to him that with every one of my moves it was handled by one person. He said that it would not be any problem. Our appointment was at 7:30 am. By 9 am I called the owner. He said that there were issues with the moving van and they were on their way, arriving by 10. They did not show up until 10:45. His employees were very polite and ambitious, and were finished within an hour. One of the guys actually picked up the safe, by himself to load. When we were ready to leave, I noticed that one of the men was on his cell phone. After he hung up, he told me that he would need half of the payment up front, cash, and that his boss said that I had to pay $200 extra for the safe. I was furious! I called the owner and at first he did not waiver, though I did not let up on him and he finally dropped the charge. They said that they would need to get gas at WA WA, and then spent 45 minutes eating breakfast. Even though we had a 5 hour drive ahead of us, we had no choice but to wait on them. We did not arrive at our rented storage unit until 5:30 pm. We were concerned, with only one hour of daylight left, alone in a dark parking area, with the storage office closed. Half way through unloading their van, one of the workers dropped our metal filing cabinet onto the pavement. The drawer was so dented that it was never going to close. They suggested pounding it out with a hammer. I said they would have to replace it and was told that it was old and only worth $40 and the owner would not file a claim for that amount. Then they got a call from their boss telling that they were taking too long and they needed to head back without unloading our trailer. He was not going to pay them for their time if they did. We began to panic. I am 68 years old, recovering from a fractured hip, and my partner who is 74 had surgery for cancer the week before. This was an out of state move, so we had no family or friends to jump in and help. The guys told us that they would finish the move if we paid them $100. Fortunately we had the cash on us. They also said that our situation with their company was not uncommon. We felt extremely intimated at this point and agreed, since we wanted to get out of there safely. Later I got the owner to send me a check for $116, the cost of a new filing cabinet like the one damaged, though he would not address the money that we had to pay his employees. I made a police report and Steve BURNS spoke to the police like he was here and lied saying we hired them to move when we only needed help packing a toy room. It's a long story on the Google Reviews..pictures and everything!! Found out yesterday my grandmother's bracelet was worth money so his movers knew what they were doing. The movers that were sent were very kind and professional, they were careful and did not break anything. Unfortunately, you should steer clear. First of all the movers were over an hour late and we were their first stop of the day. No one informed me they would be late, I had to call 15 mins after the time they were supposed to be there to figure out where they were. After I called it took them over an hour to get there, after they already had delayed my appointment by two hours the afternoon before my move. I was quoted $200 for a two hour move, not including drive time and by then end of my 4 hour move, they claimed I owed them $650....doesn't really seem like the same amount. They said they charged me $100 for an hour of driving, though our drop off location was 10 minutes away, and charged me a $75 stair fee even though they used the elevator. They also charged me for fuel which was not stated, the man on the phone said two or three hour move for a 1 bed no problem, I just didn't realize I would be paying 3 times over what I was quoted. Pretty thoroughly disappointed with the sneaky pricing that they lied about on the phone. read more

The worst moving experience I have ever had. Fist they showed up 4 hours late. Then the movers didn't have the supplies to properly protect my TV's & furniture. Also, within minutes of being there the two movers were talking about how this company always breaks things. One guy had told me how the other broke a window the day before. Then when they were taking apart my bed they ripped off the footboard and ripped two screws at separate instances in taking it apart. I said I hope the insurance covers this. One employee steps away to apparently call the boss Stephen that I had set it up with. Steven calls me and says "what's this I hear you're going to make an insurance claim because we broke something. Well we will never pay and don't need this type of job." I said it doesn't have to be through insurance even just make it right because it's expensive furniture to repair. He said he wouldn't and tried to blame me yelling and screaming on me and hung up on me so I had to fire them.
