BONG!!! BONG!!!......
Okay, so Big Brum isn't exactly the sound behind 'The News at Ten', but he is the little brother of Big Ben; And always ends up being over-shadowed by his older sibling.
The fact of the matter is that this clock is an amazing, well designed piece of architecture, which has become seeped in history since its development in 1885. Standing high above the Council House and Museum & Art Gallery in Chamberlain Square, Big Brum has become a symbolic landmark for the people of Birmingham, who can be reminded of Birmingham's heritage and culture, every time they hear the chimes.
For me, Big Brum has been very useful, especially when I've been really bogged down with study at the Birmingham Library. His sound has stopped me from losing track of time, and reminded me that I need to study harder, because time really does go so quickly!
Some of you may laugh at the fact that Big Brum is replicating Big Ben for our second city; but I don't think Birmingham would be the same without it. read more
