She was in front of the blue line which is less than 2ft, I was watching and she was wearing a vest. The manager came over to tell me they are not babysitters (I didn't ask for one) and she had to have a parent in the water with her. I asked where are the signs indicating this rule. They pointed to a wall of fine prints. I asked can I have a refund since I did not want to go in the water, they said no. A FEW MINUTES LATER THREE LITTLE BOYS WERE IN THE WATER UNACCOMPANIED AND NOONE TOLD THEM TO GET OUT. I'm so angry I could hardly write this review. See for yourself

After the 3rd time taking the same class, I was denied the "swimmers guaranteed". Which states that if your swimmer repeats a level 2x they will be offered assistance the 3rd time. If they have to repeat the level a 4th time, it's is supposed to be "on us". I'm being told that because two of my sons attempts at the level were "camps" ie 4x a week for 2 weeks and 4x a week for a month, that I didn't qualify for extra help in his 3rd go round because "camps don't count" and likewise the 4th "on us" session per the technicality. I have been at the school for numerous turnovers that have directly affected the quality and consistency of their programs. I have never once complained. Now, when my son is struggling, I have been shown no understanding or treatment like a valued customer of 8 years. Shame on you.

Julia, Jennifer, Dayonara and Jeremy have all been fantastic. My kids have made such great progress, it is mind blowing. They seem a little pricey but there are options to keep costs down if you can be flexible with your schedule. And frankly, all swim schools may be pricey now, I have no idea. It is always clean, and safe. Everybody is in such a good mood. A great environment for kids. Highly recommended.

She is very sensitive and had strong aversions to water when she started, but the teachers helped her feel at ease, slowly introducing her to the water and letting her go at her own pace. Thanks to their excellent and responsive teaching, she has mastered skills I thought would take years in just a matter of weeks. She LOVES swimming now and feels so proud of everything she is learning. And as a mom who also loves swimming and highly values water safety, it's such a reassurance to know she is in good hands. My daughter is also sensitive about male teachers, and when I called Bear Paddle to request female teachers only, Mona was SO kind, empathetic, and accommodating. She reassured me that this is a totally normal thing to ask for and that they were happy to help. One of my friends told me to check this place out, which was only a couple miles away from me. She loved their classes (she did Yoga, Pilates, and some kind of ab class) and thought I'd benefit from their facilities, especially the track. Although the Centre has a membership fee for the machines & classes, I was able to use the track for free since I was a resident (at the time). That was all I needed. I loved it! The track was clean and never too crowded. I don't think a lot of people realized what a gem this place was. I went at different times during the day and enjoyed running quietly by myself or alongside my husband (he came with me a couple times). Lockers are also available next to the track with keys. I also walked around the Centre and saw two nice pools, climbing wall, new & clean machines, and several rooms for classes. The only downside is that the parking garage is kind of narrow and you have to watch out for cars coming around the corner. It's hard to find parking sometimes, but at least the garage is attached to some kind of indoor bridge over the street so you don't have to walk across the street. I also came here once for some kind of green festival and really enjoyed all the displays, booths, taste samples, art, and petting zoo! Many parts of Elgin are really run-down but this is one part of Elgin that shines. If it wasn't for the Centre (and the library nearby), I wouldn't have been complete.

They were so cold I had to pull all out of the pool within 10 minutes of starting lessons due to the shivering they were experiencing. Enough was enough so I canceled. Now I'm being told it was a known issue but parents and swimmers were not told of it prior to entering the pool. They are still charging me for the coming month despite freezing my kids without proper warning of a known issue. Beware of their contracts and know they hide issues letting your kids be the ones to have to freeze.

The teachers, though seemingly pretty young, have been trained well to follow procedures to make sure each child is safe. I've been told what some of the safety procedures are and have witnessed the teachers being very attentive to each child while in the water. The kids have a little platform in the water at the side of the pool where they wait for their turn. And in the younger classes, there is another platform they can stand on at the other "side" of the pool. For younger classes, the other "side" is only a few feet away. The teachers here are also trained to assist children who are uneasy/crying/shy. Multiple times when my child didn't want to go in the water, another teacher came up to us right away to help him get in and feel comfortable. They are trained with kids too and know how to be initiative to kindly take them out of my hands to get in the water. There seems to always be more staff than just teachers and the life guard, so there's always someone to help in times like this. I love the flexibility here. You get 12 makeup classes for the year, and you can let them know even one minute before class that you can't make it. Then they give you a virtual token to makeup the class at any other time you were free. We've been doing a lot of makeups, and because of this the teachers change, but my kids don't seem to mind because there's a system of things they do in their lesson that they are already familiar with. They also offer events for members on some nights for free swim and other activities. And they also offer family swim days at certain times of the week. Free for members on some of these days or a small fee for other days. My 7 year old learned how to swim in about 5 months here. We had a few weeks we missed and had a few breaks in between too. He's now swimming with his head underwater by himself for the whole width of the pool. Thanks Goldfish!

I signed up for this course because I'm a single mother and what I'm making now in my other two jobs is not enough, so I thought I could add to the days/nights I have free. I made my first of two payments and started the course. I only signed up to go to the Schaumburg location because the others are too far. About a little less than halfway through the course I was sitting with the teacher and he said, "Hey, I need the other half of your tuition." ME: Well, I'm taking off work early tomorrow to come and do the classes I haven't been able to get because they don't work with my schedule. Can I just pay you tomorrow? HIM: Don't you have a credit card? Besides, the owner came in and took all my files. He never does that. At least it'll look like I did something today. (he laughs) ME: Ok (I pay him the last payment) I'll see you tomorrow around 3pm The next day I leave work early, grab some lunch, and head to the school. There's a HUGE white truck/van taking up three spots in the lot. I grab my stuff and start walking in. There's a man standing outside on the phone and as I walk past him, he says, "What do you think you're doing?" ME: I'm going to class. What do you think I'm doing. But now I'm looking around and the owners of the truck are dumping whatever they can into trash cans and taking them out past me. MAN: There's no class. They were evicted this morning. ME: WHAT?!?! The sound of the hundreds of bottles being emptied into the dumpster outside is distracting MAN: Yeah, they were thrown out. You can't come in. So I walk out and sit in my car. They JUST took my money 12 hours before. I called the school's main number and a guy named Nico told me to come to their location and we'd work something out. He said I was only twenty minutes away and he had no idea what had happened. An HOUR and twenty-five minutes later I pull up in front of this janky looking strip mall with a check cashing place and I think it was a tarot card reader. I was afraid to park my car on this busy road. I walked in and found Nico and another man sitting in what I'm assuming was the office. I told them both there's no way after working a full day that I'm going to drive over an hour to a part of town that I wouldn't want to walk out at night by myself and I would like a refund. NICO: I'm not authorized to do that. But I'll leave a message for the man who can. ME: Is it going to be the owner? Because apparently he doesn't know how to pay his bills. I want you to make sure he has all my info. (He starts to write my name and number) I was on edge, I'll admit. I'm usually not that aggressive. NICO: I don't know. The owner doesn't know what happened. ME: I'll tell you what happened. Nobody gets their sh!t thrown out on the lawn for missing one payment. He knew. That's why he came in and took the files yesterday. He KNEW. (Blank stare from Nico) ME: So can you write down the name of the guy who's going to call me and where is he? NICO: Oh, he had to run out. I don't know his name. ME: You don't know his name? You work with the guy and you don't know his name? (Now, it's the owner, I know this now. And he ran out because I called my teacher and told him the school was being emptied into a dumpster.) NICO: Uh, his name is Frank (There is no Frank. He panicked not knowing if he should tell me the owner's name) ME: Ok, I'll wait for his call. No phone call ever came. So I contacted the bank I paid with and they gave me my money back. All of it. But I wasted SO much time and have nothing to show for it. Now I have to start over and find a new school, not located anywhere near me, and pay more because all the Christmas deals are over. They handled it like a$$hats. That's all. Nobody contacted me to try to make anything right. I am positive they couldn't have forgotten I came in. Just a shame for me and the 50-something other students who hadn't taken their test or finished the classes yet.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with the classes I took. I always wanted a…read moreprofession in bartending, but never knew where to go or how to get started. I searched on the internet and wanted to try this school since it was close to my home. I called the office and told them I was skeptical, so they encouraged me to just stop in on a class and observe. WOW, was I excited to see everyone working hands-on and with each other. I knew that this was the place I wanted to attend. The classes helped me with so many facets of bartending that I still adhere to today. While drink recipes are a major focus, the class also concentrates on pouring, cleanliness, and hardware knowledge. In fact, I think that the returning of all equipment and bottles to its original location is probably the most important thing I have learned and has pretty much become my mantra. The course was also fun and educational with stories and jokes. Don was an awesome teacher, and his experience and stories would leave you waiting to hear more. I always looked forward to attending classes and would stay until the last minute. Maybe the best about the program is the job placement service. After completing the courses, I was then worried about how I would find a job in bartending. However, the placement service they use could not have been any more easier. I took the coursework in March of 2014 and was able to have my first job the first week of April. I was looking to advance my career several months later, and again, the school provided me with a link to a position that I absolutely love working at today. Bartender American Professional Schools has changed my life by helping me to pursue a career I have always wanted and continues to guide me as I make my bartending journey. I would HIGHLY recommend this facility to anyone considering a field in bartending.
