A few weeks ago we chose Payson for our destination. When we drove into town, this was the first antique store we ran across. The store is very small and has a few interesting items. The Better Half found some ivory jewelry and turquoise rings for a decent price. However, when we went to pay, they informed us that they don't accept credit cards. It's cash only. Be prepared. The old man and his son, who own and run the place are pretty cool. The atmosphere was amazing, and while we were there they even had a guy playing a Chapman Stick, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable and relaxing. We ended up spending way more time there than we expected because there was so much to look at, and music was amazing. Definitely one of those hidden gems that feels welcoming, creative, and full of personality. We really enjoyed ourselves and will absolutely be back!

Local artists have works for sale. There's a farm stand with fresh produce, bread, and local eggs. They serve excellent quality food, coffees, and although I didn't have one, they even had beer, wine, and cocktails. Unfortunately I live in Goodyear and don't get to Payson nearly as often as I would like, but it's the kind of place I may make a special trip up there for. This is exactly what the world needs more of - especially the gathering place.
