I then took a chance and purchased them again today. When peeled they were a very odd bright red color that I have never seen pn a mandarin before. I was afraid to eat them. I disposed of them. I then got out the grape tomatoes that I purchased this afternoon. Most were wrinkled and clearly should not have been sold. McCaffrey's is going to have to step up their produce quality to keep my business. I cannot keep throwing food away. I don't have time to waste returning it either. I barely have time to shop. McCaffrey's should be premium quality. I should not have to inspect everything I take off the shelf. I'm deeply disappointed.

So I asked for help. The person running self checkout said the number was accepted, but the display was wrong. (LIE #1) I pointed out that the prices hadn't changed. He said they did. (LIE #2). He then scanned the item with his phone and saw the price plus cost. He then said that the price is requiring a coupon. (LIE #3). I challenged him on that lie and he admitted that the registers have been giving a problem with the price plus numbers (ONLY TRUTH). He then said that nothing can be done about it. No manager or anyone could address the problem. I realize that technical difficulties happen, but repeatedly lying to a customer is hardly a good business practice. I just left everything at the register.

Likewise, the Produce has begun to hit the skids. Over the last several months, starting in February, the quality has definitely gone down hill. Fruits that could be guaranteed to last at least two to three weeks barely make it through the week. Many of the vegetables are barely ripe. Example, the most recent delivery of Iceberg lettuce feels more like it should be used as weights in a pilates class. Those items that are ripe have definitely been sitting on a pallet for some time in storage. In the Prepared Foods sections, this past week, someone made the decision to use old rooster parts for the fried chicken, branding it as "Perdue Giant Parts." It almost looks like the stuff that didn't sell from the Meat Department was shuffled down to be used for the prepared stuff. The more I watch this, the more I get a sense that Saker ShopRites have become infested with accountants that are more interested in short-term gain instead of long-term generations of customers who can trust the store to provide consistency in terms of the food and service. Generations of customers are far safer to develop income than a one-time purchaser. But I guess when the only interest is hearing the cash register ring, then who cares about quality or value? For the most part the employees here are nice and are pretty easy to talk to/deal with. I enjoy walking in and seeing all of the flowers right at the front, as well- it gives it a good atmosphere to first walk into. Shopping carts could be collected a little better, however.
