I've been a customer here for several years. I was about 10 minutes late for an appointment yesterday. When I arrived, I was told my manicurist had taken another customer, to go ahead and soak my nails, to remove my current polish. I did so, thinking my manicurist would get to me later. No such luck. No communication! I washed my hands, ended up with bare nails, and went home unhappy. Later, I called and made a 10:30 appointment with the same manicurist for the next morning. I got there on time. My manicurist apparently was not there. The salon had her sister do my nails, without an explanation -- perhaps thinking I would not know the difference? I found this rude and inconsiderate. I like their work and will give them another chance, but am unhappy and very disappointed by this level of unprofessionalism. :-( read more

Walked in with no appointment on a Saturday. It was pretty busy but I was quickly greeted and instructed to pick a color out. I did a gel manicure and only had to wait around 5-10 minutes to get started. The chairs were a little uncomfortable as my back was slouched but I was allowed to grab a pillow from their sofa when I asked. The color was pretty, the service was great, how ever I do wish my hand massage was a little longer but I think my nails needed so much coats that time was spent more on that which is ok. This place was very average, it didn't really take my breath away, for I expected it to be amazing for being top rated in 2018. I was going in for acrylics and they kept persuading me to get dip, so I got dip and didn't really like it it was chunky looking. The prices are also pretty up there, dip was $45 for me. The woman also didn't do an amazing job, I saw one of my nails uneven and asked her to fix it which should be her job I decided to give this place another try and boy was I wrong. I was in horrible pain the entire time. The woman cut almost all of my cuticles leaving them all bleeding. On top of that she put alcohol burning them. She was holding my hands very hard as well leaving me in so much pain. She was also very rude I cannot believe I paid. read more

My 1 star review goes specifically to the owner as I have been extremely happy with this salon and all staff until now. NEVER get your lashes done here!! I have been a customer for over a year now and have always been very happy with pedicures and nails. Tee was always my girl for nails and she does an amazing job! It wasn't until I was going on a trip and had a full set of eyelashes done by Kay (the owner) that I will now be changing salons. It was extremely painful during both the lashing process and afterwards. I expressed my concerns as soon as I sat up about my eyes burning and was told it was just the weight of the lashes and was brushed off. I have had my lashes done elsewhere and have never experienced the pain I went through! My eyes were swollen for 2 days. It hurt to blink or sleep and I thought I was just being a baby and that the pain would go away eventually. I had spoken to someone within the salon after application about how painful they were and was told I was most likely allergic to the glue. Less than 2 weeks after application I couldn't stand them anymore and due to how painful it was the first time, I tried to remove them myself at home. During this process I discovered my eyelashes were glued directly to my skin and several glued together forming a connection between multiple lashes. One clump that came out had 16 lashes along with 2 of my natural lashes. THIS is what caused my pain and not an allergy or sensitivity to the glue. When I was in so tears trying to remove them myself I went in to have Kay remove them. 3/4 of my natural lashes were also removed and when I asked how the situation was going to be rectified, basically told too bad and to go back to who I had a good experience with. I also brought up the fact I was given no after care instructions or sold a cleaner for them and was told water was sufficient. I repeat... NEVER get your lashes done here!!! As a business manager myself, her poor customer service cost her and her staff my family and friend's business and tips. This could have been resolved by taking responsibility, not blaming the client, and maybe a nail/pedi voucher. read more

However, I'm staying in Wichita for over a month, so I had no choice but to find a nail salon out here. Big Apple had the most positive reviews so I decided on them, and I'm so glad I did. Lily was my nail tech and she did a fantastic job. My nails are finally long enough to do a shape other than square or round, and I've been waiting so long to do coffin shape, but I was worried about asking for a special shape from her since I didn't know how skilled she was- the shape ended up looking phenomenal. First off, I have had nothing but great experiences over the years at Big Apple. The entire time is great and I have missed going in due to COVID-19. After two months of not going to the salon, my nails were in need of some TLC. I decided to get to treat myself and get the Mint Pedicure - one of the specials - and WOW it was fabulous! Hana worked on my feet and legs for over an hour - massaging the various masks and scrubs into my skin. It was the most pampering pedicure I've received in years. Sidenote- I was a little nervous to go back into public places due to the virus, but Big Apple has got you covered! Everyone is in masks and each booth has screens installed to limit breathing on each other. I also watched the sanitizing process after a guest left. This place is over priced and undertrained! My shellac lasted 4 days before it started chipping off. They say lashes last 3 weeks... that's a lie! Mine lasted bout a week before I started noticing huge gaps! When I went to get them filled she took it upon herself to take them out and put in a new set and charge me 70$ rather than the 40$ for the fill! I never asked her to take out and give me a new set! Pedicures are 35 for a basic one and they only soak your feet in plain water! I can do that shit at home for free! Some staff are friendly, some are not! Some staff know what they are doing.... most do not! I can't say if I would recommend this place or not because not all of my experiences have been bad! But the last 3 times I have been there have not been good! For lashes just spend the money and go next door to minks! For pedicures save 15$ and go somewhere else where you will actually have your feet soaked right! And shellac is just a money scam... only good thing about it is it dries faster! To say my experience here was subpar would be an understatement, I called and asked how much a fill with gel polish would be, and was told 25. When I showed up i was told it was 40, and that regular polish was 25. I was obviously confused, but disregarded it. I showed them a picture of what I wanted, and they said it would be 30 with normal polish so that's what I did. However when they started working on my nails, they didn't listen to what I asked, and changed the shape of nails I said I liked and got frustrated when I asked them to fix it. Then it was time to paint my nails, and I had to explain 3 times what I wanted (after showing the picture earlier and pulling it it again), just for them to pull out a pink polish and paint my nails with that. I stopped him and said I wanted a nude base like the picture, not pink. Then another girl brought over 3 different pinks, to which I said I just wanted nude again, and she started complaining about me to the tech working on my sisters nails. I decided to just keep one color instead of 2 to make it easier, and they were frustrated with me again for changing. He applied 3 coats one after the other not giving any time to dry, and told me if I wanted to have a safer option I should have chosen gel. After we finally finished they told me it was going to be 40, which to me was unacceptable because I had shown them what I wanted and we had agreed on 30, and then that wasn't even what I ended up getting it was more simple. After a lot of talking (mostly me being talked down to) we settled on 35. My sisters experience was also not positive, as the tech working on her nails tried to pressure her the whole time into different shapes, or different lengths, when she was very clear and upfront she needed short nails since she types all day. Overall the entire experience was very frustrating, and to top it all off, he didn't even use a top coat, and something was on his hands that stained the side of mine black. I called 4 days in advance to request that Kim do an eyelash fill, as I was referred by a friend and she said she was the best. My tech never introduced herself so I assumed she was who I requested. From the moment I walked in the door I had a bad feeling and I should have left and saved $85. I was asked what "size" of lashes I had on. I'm not the professional in this field, that's something she should figure out. It doesn't instill a lot of confidence. That was mistake number 1. Mistake number 2: When working on someone's face it is not only a common courtesy to wash your hands, but it is a public health priority! Her hands smelled metallic, like metal utensils. At one point her hand grazed across my lip (that had chapstick on it) and I thought I was going to puke. I've never had someone's hand come remotely close to my lips while working on my eyes! I've had my lashes done by a true professional in this field.None of this has happened with my usual girl! (I couldn't get in to see my usual girl and had a weekend event, so I had to go somewhere else.) Mistake number 3: The atmosphere was loud, not at all relaxing, like I'm used to. Mistake number 4: While applying my lashes I could feel the extensions poking my lids. I kept praying that they would look good and I could forget this entire experience. To my surprise they looked ok. BUT, they feel like sh*t! Ladies, you should NOT feel lashes! Lashes should not hurt. I feel pain nearly every time I blink. It's awful! This was a very expensive lesson to learn. Never again will I go to a place that doesn't specialize in lashes. When I was checking out she introduced herself, it wasn't Kim. That just pissed me off even more. Once I left and was driving home, I recalled when I walked in this girl was doing her own nails. And then I wanted to puke again when I realized she most likely didn't wash her hands before touching my face, which explains the metallic smell for the duration of the appointment. I am VERY PLEASED with my visit. I stopped in while in Wichita visiting and I must say it was so worth it. The nail tech was attentive and listened to me and my friend's conversation concerning ideas. She helped me decide. I showed her what I wanted ans got exactly that. It was amazing! I've had bad experiences before but this was the complete opposite. She was very efficient and didn't take a long time. I got a fill, a matte finish with two accent nails. Very Very pleased, you would think I'd been there before. She kept my nail shape and cut my nails down to the perfect length. I wanted to like this place because of how cheap my first visit was ($30 with the first-time coupon) and how well the nails were applied--they stayed on and looked nice for longer than most places I've been to in town--but I cannot forgive a nail salon when you take of your nails to find fungus on the nailbed. I went in about 3 weeks ago to try a new nail salon and wasn't awfully impressed with the cleanliness of the place, but also wasn't shocked. But when I went in for a fill, I noticed an unhealthy shade on half of my nail beds. The nail tech kept saying, "I don't know how this happened when your acrylics were still so secure on your nail bed." I will tell you exactly how that happened--it had to do with the cleanliness of this salon when the acrylics were applied. I have been getting may nails done for 10 years and this has NEVER happened to me. I can rationalize why, as a salon, you would want to protect your business as much as possible, but you can't blame me for "contracting" some fungus AND still maintain that you did a good job at securing the acrylics on the nail bed. Either you used unclean tools, or your nail job was shotty and prone to water getting in the nail bed. Although I'm persuaded it was the tools used, either way, the salon attributed to this conundrum. This is to date, the most embarrassing review I've ever left, but if it leads to this business being more sanitary with their tools, then so be it. All I know is that I will be more cautious in the future and start trusting my gut when I think a salon could/should be cleaner. read more

I've had bad experiences every time I've been there. I've given them 4 chances and it seems like nobody there quite gets it. I've had dip/shellac multiple times there and I find hairs, like little human hairs stuck on my nail. This last time, my nail popped off 4 days after I got them done. I went in to get it fixed and they were extremely rude to me. Telling me "why would I come back if I didn't know the color being used" when she was sanding my finger, I swiped my hand back because she was SANDING MY SKIN and she did not apologize or anything and demanded my hand back. Then gave me a half ass redo of my nail that's not even my color. Then sent me on my way. She did 2 coats of dip. 2. You can still see right through it. This place is a joke. BEWARE: My daughter and I stopped in for a mani & pedi. First, the technician did not clean up my cuticles, then she went too deep in my thumb nail after I repeatedly asked her to go light as my nails are naturally thin. After I became upset she switched to a file, still very sloppy and tore my skin. She used the tool again after the dip burning two more fingers causing one to bleed, she said she would be more careful. The dip was too thick and uneven. She filed my nails too short making it impossible to correct her mistakes. My daughters nail service was just as bad, we opted out of the pedicure. I had very high hopes for this salon because they've done my eyebrows before, but never have done my nails. I went in and the lady I had was pretty rude to me. She was yelling at me when I asked about the shape, color and cost. I was already over the whole entire thing. She did rush on my nails, so my nails were shaped weird. If I could give this place no stars I would. First time here and it was a terrible experience. When I walked in no one greeted us, we were instantly pressured into getting higher priced manis. I sat down and waited to be helped but by the time I got helped, my friend was half way done with her mani already. The lady started with me and everything was fine but she ripped off some of my skin on my finger, and way too much of it!! It would not stop bleeding and she kept squeezing it which made it feel so much worse. She kept putting this weird blue liquid on it that I guess was supposed to stop it but it didn't do anything. I went for eye lashes and eye brow tint and a pedi. I LOVED the eye lashes and the eye brow tint. Beautiful. My problem is with the pedicure. She was more interested in watching Prison Break that was showing on the TV a few chairs away than She was giving me a pedicure. I didn't even get a massage. She half heartedly rubbed with hot stones. But again, Michael Schofield was more interesting than the pedicure I was paying for. Unbelievable. Will not be back for a pedicure. read more
