We found Rebel Chick BBQ parked at the Waukee United Methodist Church. The menu looked awesome! The food in the warmers looked great. With all transparency they were having a bit of a rough start with this event upon arrival... Power issues. Not entirely unexpected for a new rig. We were taking our food to go and had a 20+ minute drive to get home. More than likely we were going to need to warm the food up anyway once we got home. Not a big deal for us! We ordered the following: 2x pulled pork sandwich 1x 1/4 rack of ribs 1x mac n cheese 2x smoked baked beans The pulled pork sandwiches were piled high and we couldn't help picking at the meat that had overflowed from the buns and had fallen out into the basket. So good! Speaking of the buns they use a really nice bun here, for the pulled pork sandwiches, that holds up well! Too many times I've seen people resort to the cheap ones that fall apart in minutes to save money off the top...or to reduce the item cost to the customer. I can only speak for myself, but I'll gladly pay a little more for higher quality... The ribs were meaty and tender. Smoked and seasoned perfectly! The mac n cheese was really good! You could tell that it had been seasoned too and there was more to it than just the cheese sauce... Definitely need to offer this is a Large size too! Power issues aside this is a truck/trailer to watch! Once they get the kinks worked out they are going to be a force on the Des Moines metro food truck scene! Location: This food truck is also in such a great location along the bike trail near valley junction. They're so kind too they have a water cooler out there for people to have free water and bikers can fill their water bottles from it. Seating: They have quite a few picnic tables and they all have umbrellas which is so nice to have a shaded spot to eat. 100% recommend stopping by, eating awesome food, and supporting a local small family business!

We both wanted to try it so we split it in half and the half portion was plenty filling for each of us AND it was absolutely delicious! When I found out it was a local brand I had to go to Hyvee to try the other flavors. So far the other flavor I've tried is the Chicken Sun dried & cherry tomatoes in a basil béchamel. It was so good! I started with a half portion but it was so good I ate the other in the same sitting. That was a mistake on my part because I was too full eating the whole thing! The pie may seem small but it is plenty filling for two meals. The nutrition facts on the back are based on a half serving and at half size the caloric intake is over 400 calories. But it's to be expected because these things are so good! I can't wait to try the other different flavors I bought of PIE MATES from Hyvee.

We got back to the car and it smelled so good we just dug in. I had tacos with carne asada, my wife had a quesadilla. Both were really rich. The meat on mine was cooked perfectly. It had a nice simple pico, and these sauteed onions that were amazing. They had the sort of tortillas that you cannot buy, you can only make by hand. Beware the roasted jalapenos. It was delicious, but too hot for me. My wife loved it. The quesadilla had a nice crunch, and went wonderfully with the green salsa. Oh, an aside, I generally am not a fan of salsa verde. I went through most of mine with my tacos. It's a great place, right on the corner of Merle Hay & Hickman in front of the CVS so it's easy to get to. We're definitely going again, and we'll get pictures next time.

Good stuff! This…read moretruck has been parked at the Glacier Properties office in Clive for the past few days. I live right down the street...two blocks or so. I wasn't sure if they took cards or not...and I haven't made it to an ATM lately so I've hesitated to stop by. But tonight was the night...! It was a brisk night, it had been windy, and was spitting snow earlier. After a quick trip (Kwik Star actually) to an ATM I whipped into the parking lot and headed to the window. I was greeted right away as I walked up. They do take cards. There was a payanywhere station on the counter. The menu is posted on the truck along with their prices. I ordered three quesa birria tacos and a barbacoa torta. Paid and tipped. They handed me a pager so I could wait for the food where it was a little warmer. That was much appreciated. It was a really short wait...I didn't even get halfway through the YouTube video I'd queued up. Lol Staff was friendly and the food was packaged well. After the short drive home I unpacked my food on the coffee table. The smell in the car was almost unbearable... It's a wonder I made it home before breaking into it. The food was fresh and hot. It came with the expected things on the side. A red hot sauce, onions, peppers, and limes. The beef in both the birria and barbacoa tasted great. The tacos were also topped with onions and cilantro. The torta with onions, cilantro, and avocado. I really enjoyed the roll the torta came on. A little hard and crunchy on the outside to hold things together and soft on the inside. It would almost be perfect for a proper cheesesteak...if you know you know. Unlike some other trucks these guys don't skimp on the meat. It could be dangerous having a truck with birria this close to home. Something the other two trucks nearby lack... With all transparency they're not my absolute favorite quesa birria tacos... They don't serve the side of consume for dipping. But they are good! And I don't need to burn through the gas to drive over to Flame or track down Nina's or Taqueria Marissa. I'm glad I stopped. Hopefully others will give them some business too.
