My husband and I have used Sub Zero Heating & Air since they installed our new air conditioning…read moreunit. We chose them because they were a newer, local small business and wanted to support them. In April of this year, we experienced issues with our AC and called Sub Zero for service. We paid $250 for what we believed was a proper repair. Unfortunately, we recently learned that the original problem was never actually fixed. Instead, a temporary repair using an inexpensive part was made to get the unit running, without addressing the underlying issue. When the unit began having problems again, my husband hired another HVAC company for a second opinion. They informed him that the issue from April had never been properly repaired and explained what should have been done at that time. My husband then contacted Matt at Sub Zero to discuss the situation. Initially, Matt suggested we might have been confusing Sub Zero with another company. However, my husband explained that Sub Zero is the only company that has ever serviced our AC. After hearing our concerns, Matt acknowledged the situation and offered to provide the capacitor that should have been installed in April. This was especially concerning because we were under the impression that a new capacitor had already been installed during the April service. Based on our experience, we feel that the repair was incomplete, we were charged for work that was not properly performed, and the communication regarding the repairs was misleading. Unfortunately, because of this experience, we cannot recommend Sub Zero Heating & Air to others.

Timmy came out to quote me on a new system per a request I sent to them. He was a nice guy that did…read morean evaluation of my current system as well. Every other A/C company I have spoken with immediately says (before they even inspect the system) that I defiantly need a new system when they hear my old one is 20 years old. I'm not in total disagreement with that statement, but Timmy inspected all the pieces of the system and decided that the leak I had was very small. A new charge of R22 (at 1/2 the price of other A/C companies) and my units are running like they are new, cooling the house very nicely. It is a rare occurrence when someone isn't trying to sell you a 10,000 dollar system and is just as happy to offer a way to extend the usefulness of your current system. When it does come time to replace my system, I will be getting a quote from this company as part of the bidding process.

A serviceman was sent out to inspect my system when the AC unit would not blow cold air. He said my…read morefreon was low. Gave me more freon and was on his way. My system worked fine for a few months. When talking with other AC repair experts, this is a total hack job. AC units are a closed system. Therefore, if freon is low, there is a LEAK. Good companies will find the leak and address that issue. Bad companies fill you up with more freon.
