Fantastic beer selection, good food, good service. I love this place and at a whopping 3 minutes from my house it's quickly become my go to bar... They need a little help with theme nights... The times I've been in for trivia night it's always busy but my friends and I let to trivia host know that we were first timers (we have done Sporcle before but not quizzo) so we didn't know the rules.. She said she'd explain before we got started... That didn't happen which was frustrating. Karaoke night could be fun but the times I've been in its the same two guys singing all night and only a few tables in the house... Not the crowd this bar deserves. Loved every minute of our visit to this bar. The seating can be rough on busy nights, but my husband and I found a seat at the bar. The cutting board appetizer is a nice starter with a good variety of items to snack on. The beer selection was great! I tried a few new beers and the bartender was very good at making suggestions of things I'd like based on what I knew I already loved. We had the chicken and waffles as well as one of the burgers (I can't recall the name, but it had german sausage on the burger... so yummy!) and the food was great. They also do a very fun toast every night at 9 pm. We happened to visit on a night that the Jalopy Brothers band was playing and I loved their sound! We stopped at the Bierkeller for an early dinner today after visiting a friend. We yelped this restaurant and it had a four star rating. We started with the 3 pretzels with cheese and grain mustard,very good. My wife ordered the chicken paprikas bowl which was huge and she liked it. My sister-in - law and I ordered the chicken on spatzels with Brussels sprouts. The sprouts were good,well flavored .The chicken should have been pounded thin and then lightly fried in butter but that was not to be. The breaded chicken was deep fried and just ok,but my spatzels were dried out and not very warm. The crowning problem was the sauce which topped the chicken. It was a green cream parsley sauce with some strange herbs in it. The parsley was so strong it overwhelmed every bite. This chicken was 13.00 and not worth it. I know from over 200 reviews that someone out there likes this food but I was disappointed. A squeeze of fresh lemon over a thin pan fried piece of chicken was all that was required. When this place first opened I gave it a try and didn't care for the food. However, recently tried it again (3 times in the last 2 months) and they have won me over. I think I just didn't care for the first thing I tried (chicken and waffles). My fav thing on the menu is The Sweaty Pig sandwich. Tender juicy pulled pork with a spicy/sweet bbq mustard sauce. YUMM ! My last visit I tried the Oma Goodness Schnitzel (pork schnitzel on spaetzle), the pork was fried nicely. I would rate that dish 4 stars. Great beer selection and vibe. Love the live entertainment, however it gets so loud you can't talk. Probably because the bar is on the small side. This is the best bar downriver hands down! I feel comfortable coming here by myself middle of the day during the week or during the weekend at night or even with my 3 year old daughter. The menu is comprehensive and the owners are so nice to listen to what their customers want. Being vegan, it's meant a lot that they now have a vegan burger patty. Best selection of beer available in the entire area. All of the staff are super nice. You will have such a nice dining experience here! read more

Excellent example of a small downriver restaurant done right. They have an excellent selection of German and American beer on tap, and the food is excellent. My family is vegan and we always enjoy their Blackbean Burger! This place has plenty of tvs and is always showing whatever sporting events are on at the time. The music is on the louder side for an upscale restaurant, but its to be expected since it's more of a bar than a restaurant. They do have TouchTunes though for those who are picky about the music selection and willing to pay to influence the ambiance. read more

Bierkeller is an amazing place with amazing staff!!! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!! Long story short: I had my mother in law's surprise birthday party planned for last Saturday at Smugglers in Wyandotte. The Thursday before, a friend had called Smugglers to find out pricing and the person who answered said that they were closed on Saturday. They had never called me or emailed me to let me know. I called and received confirmation that it "wasn't good business because it was cold out". I frantically called Bierkellers and spoke with Jen, who within minutes had me and our party set up in their heated tent for Saturday night. They even brought out a delicious desert and a birthday shot for the birthday girl!! Everyone had such a great time; our server, Kristen, and Jen were both constantly checking on us. They did not even hate us when we ended up in a small cupcake fight! I heard so many rave reviews from our guests that night about the great food, drinks, and service. Arrived too late for Sun.Brunch food but still was able to indulge in their Bottomless Mimosas Started with 'make your own ' Bloody Mary and Bierkeller provides a GREAT selection of garnishments including German Sausage all on the same serving table as Bierkellers awesome selection of Champaign and Juices for 'make your own ' Mimosas. We only had 30 min. left for brunch but our Super Heroine waitress Jessica said she'll keep making us whatever we want from behind the bar. Jessica took away all of our cares about whether we were going to enjoy our time there. Off the lunch menu, I dined 100% German. I started with a German Chili, followed it up with Wurstchen Feast - a variety of German Sausage eg Bratt's.Washed it all down with a 23oz Warsteiner Dunked and a 16oz Hofbrau Original. My wife dined on German Spring Rolls. If we never travel to German, Bierkeller's is good enough for us! I know very little about German food. As in nothing...I know nothing about German Food... or culture. I think they call a blind German a "not see" or something like that (Das a good dad joke). Anywho.... I like this place! The bartender was friendly and helpful. We took a couple of her recommendations, and ordered some kind of bacon wrapped brat appetizer and the schnitzel. This was my first schnitzel and I'm definitely a fan. Crunchy and salty (in a good way) w some kind of delicious gravy on it. It felt like comfort food. First time posting something on here but absolutely felt the need after our visit there last night. Just wanna say thank you to Bierkeller and especially a huge thanks to our waitress Tiffany. Celebrated my 40th birthday there last night and she was absolutely amazing!! I mean just on point with everything! From her service, to her demeanor and well, basically everything....she killed it!! By the end of the night, she was calling everyone by their names and was so personal, friendly and prompt. They are so accommodating with my Celiac disease. The staff is well trained on food allergies and our very aware. They always made sure to bake my stuff, so that there is no cross contamination. I can still enjoy most of my favorite eats there because of that. They offer a wide variety of drinks and even carry gluten free beer. Super cute little bar. I love the way they remodeled and designed it. Love the big tables, I wish the place was bigger! Great beer on tap and good wait staff. Was there once when they had a little two man band playing, they were great too! Get there early though it's very small and if you have a large group you'll need a whole table and they fill up fast. There was one questionable incident. My friend ordered a Dirty Blonde and it was very off. Tasted like line cleaner and stale beer. The waitress told us that's how dirty blonde always tastes.... Then she said she could put some lemonade in it to help it taste better.... Bla, gross. In the end she still charged him for it. We were with a big group and there for a while; I know the bill was very large, just seemed like she shouldn't have charged him... He didn't drink it. Also, my favorite beer, Bean Flicker didn't quite taste right. So I don't know of its a problem with their beer or two flukes. I'm looking forward to hanging out there more to find out. read more

I'm reluctant to write this review as the venue was already overpacked on my first Sunday brunch visit. However, the Bloody Mary bar and food offerings deserve a 5 star. The prices on the Bloody Mary/mimosa bar were pretty good and the bar was stocked with most everything you would need for a great drink. I ordered their version of chicken and waffles and it was amazing! I was reluctant to do so due to the egg and cheese they top it with but both additions resulted in an over the top delicious meal. The crispy chicken atop the sweet waffles was a perfect combination. The chicken is more of a schnitzel (versus fried chicken) so the breading was a bit thinner but still had just enough crisp. Once I felt brave enough to add in some egg and cheese to my bites, my meal went from good to great. The added savory, gooey-ness of the two molded perfectly with the savory sweet mix of the chicken and waffles. This dish had everything is needed: crispy, tender, gooey, cheesy, savory, sweet, and some added spice thanks to hot sauce. It sounds over the top but the result was an amazing brunch meal soothing the hangover from Saturday night. The slight buzz my Bloody Mary left me with resulted in an amazing Sunday afternoon nap. This was a great Sunday brunch experience and adding to that was that this great gem is in Downriver. I will definitely be back & only hope that the owners have plans to expand the small venue. read more

We went on a Wednesday night, had a couple burgers and appetizer with the German spring rolls, and had a delightful server. The food was fantastic. One of the burgers was a little over cooked but still delicious. They had good music, the crowd was friendly, the server attentive, and overall just a very very nice environment on our first visit. If you like a variety of beers, this place is for you. It has a decent atmosphere. The server was polite and attentive. But if you want German food, you will not find it here. The spaetzle reminded me of instant noodles and sauce mixed with frozen peas with carrot cubes. I actually think that is exactly what it was. I stopped after two bites. It was not good; it certainly wasn't German by any stretch. The corned beef Reuben, also not German, was as thin and unsubstantial as a child's school lunch. Half off most appetizers from 3-6 M-F. We had the soft pretzels and they were good. Have a decent amount of beers on tap that rotate and like 85 in cans. Prices for the beers were very reasonable. Most have 3 sizes to choose from. Wife ordered a build your burger and I ordered chicken sandwich( not the real name on menu). Burger was ordered with their fries and you get a lot! I had homemade chips with chicken and received a lot as well. The chicken was large as well. Service and other staff....Exceptionably nice and made you feel welcome. Prices for food were perfect. We will definitely be back and will visit the new location when open as well. The inside is mostly picnic tables and a couple high tops. Great atmosphere with keno as well. Great beer, nice atmosphere and most importantly tasty food. I came here on a Monday for all-you-can-eat Spätzle. The space is not very big, slightly dark with long tables like you would find them in a Bierstube. The beer selection was just what I was hoping for. Münchner Helles please! An old map of Germany is decorating the space, the waitress was friendly and attentive. The Spätzle come in small bowls which gave us the opportunity to try at least three different types. I was positively surprised by the good quality of the food. The Spätzle were made in house, tasty and flavorful. My favorite was the version with Sauerkraut and Kielbasa. Local products like Wigley's are found on the menu as well. This is a great casual place with hearty fare and southern German beers. Prost! read more

I felt the drinks were a little over priced for what I was getting I bought a cocktail at this restaurant not long ago and it was literally 8 bucks for a small glass really just a single sip. fair enough I got my food and can't say i enjoyed that either I felt it had little taste what so ever...
