This library also serves as a bit of a community center, with big rooms to hold meetings in. I enjoy the fact that this library has a lot of local art from local high schoolers. Most of the art is themed around equality and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It keeps things interesting! There's plenty of parking in the front, and especially in the rear of the building. In the front, there's a big jungle gym, and a few park benches to hang out and read at. The librarians are always helpful at SAPL, and I'm always happy to come to this location. This public library is much smaller than other branches around the city, but the true gem is their newly renovated kids section. The kids area has a huge selection of books, as well as board games for the kids, computers and other toys for them to play with. There are also plenty of couches around the kids area, which makes it perfect for parents to take a break while the kids explore the library. Since this is a smaller library their book selection is not as complete as others, but regardless it is a great option if you live in this area. Besides the kid section, there's also a teenager area on the opposite side of the library and private rooms you can use for coworking sessions. Overall, a great experience and will definitely be coming back to check out one of their free classes.

This library is impressive - three floors complete with quiet rooms, private study desks, community…read morestudy areas, study rooms (some equipped with dry erase boards while others have walls made up of dry erase boards), and even charging areas for your phones. The folks who work here are really nice and for the most part, leave you alone to take care of what you need to take care of. It's also pretty cool that you can check to see what computers are available from a remote area as long as you go to the main UTSA website. On the ground floor, there's a cafeteria complete with Chick-fil-A, Subway, Starbucks, and a salad bar and a quick grab for sandwhiches. Oh and a sushi place that's there but not open. The prices are about the same as you would pay off campus. Just keep in mind that at least the Chick-fil-A won't have the entire menu available but they do have nuggets, chicken sandwhiches, and waffle fries there. Not sure about Subway.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, but I was told that area I sat in would be serving lunch for children at 12. Because my session was over at 12, everything worked out. At about 12, one of the library personnel came to the family I was sitting with, and told the mom that there was free lunch for the children. It seems this is a partnership between the Public Library, the San Antonio Food Bank, and Northeast ISD. I can't tell you how impressed I am. With all the issues that people are having these days, it was just such a nice thing to for families and children and teens, during the Summer months. The schedule can be found on the public library website, which also shows participating library branches. Kudos to the public library, SA Food Bank and NEISD for being there for the community.

IMacs fill up most of the general area. The children's room has the super cool tablet tables that I may have been hogging up. IPads are found all throughout the library. The staff is super friendly and really enthusiastic about the library themselves! So the library has many features to visit. But the actual library itself basically works two ways. Once you receive you library card and password you can on your own devices download the 3M cloud Library App. The app by the way was accessible from my Kindle, laptop and phone. Once downloaded you sign in with you library card number and can download/check in books from there. You can easily download books from anywhere this way and there is a vast selection to choose from. They do only allow you to check in five books at a time and it's at a two week period. There is a waiting time on most of the best sellers. But again there are plenty of books to choose from cook books to the classics. If you don't have any devices yourself don't fret. They are lending out e readers for the adults and nooks for the children. These are at limited supply but such a wonderful opportunity for people without access or lacking in their technology expertise.

First, you have the sweet staff who complimented my daughter's odd Austin-y name, second there are the rows of iMacs for reading on site or the checking out of e-readers for the adults. Next, we head into the children's room where there are 4 iPads and 3 interactive LARGE tablets where kids can play games and do a lot of hands-on leaning. Story time for toddlers is on Sundays at 2, although I hope they have a remedy to reading off the iPad for a larger group of kids. Also, the iPads were just that iPads...no software installed yet, no free books, etc. I see a lot of possibility with these iPads and I hope they are used to their full potential. You ready for negative nancy? I wish people were quiet in this library. Yes, it still is a library but there was a dad ON HIS CELL PHONE the entire time in the kids section. Maybe my ADD mind couldn't shake the disruption and you won't have a problem, but I really wish the staff would have asked him to step outside or get off the phone to discover the room WITH his kid. The funny part is, I used Apple Maps to get here (and didn't get lost. Hey-o!). But that's not the funny part. As soon as I turned the corner to see the BiblioTech building I saw a bunch of cops cars instead. Driving a bit further I discovered that the BiblioTech is in the same building as precinct headquarters. Way to reinforce the security and send a silent message about the south side.
