This place is a sanctuary.. Amazing teachers, & an amazing vibe. The owner Betsy is one of the kindest, happiest, most genuine people you will ever meet.. I've been to a to of studios around the area and nothing comes close to comparing to bhakti barn.. I highly suggest stopping by no matter what your level of yoga expertise! Great for beginners and masters alike!

It's less of a spiritual practice than a light cardio workout. We go through the poses quickly, and repeat them almost like a circuit. After class, I feel like I've done some light exercise rather than limber and relaxed. I did enjoy classes with Hailee. She has great energy and goes around to help you out with your poses. If hot yoga/cardio is your niche, you will enjoy this studio. The instructors are kind and it's very welcoming place

Doors lock promptly when class starts, so don't be late! Our class was pretty crowded, over 20 people. We had five mats per row, pushed so that if everyone sat crosslegged, you'd probably bump knees with your neighbor. But it worked out okay. Most of the people who were taking the class seemed like regulars and they were fairly friendly. Overall, I really enjoyed the class, but I didn't really think it was geared that well towards beginners. The instructor called out poses instead of explaining them, and she walked around the room a lot so it was not possible to look at her for reference. Instead, I had to hope that the person in front of me knew what she was doing, since I was just mimicking her. Luckily, the woman in front of me was a pro, but it still made class kind of confusing. The class lasted over an hour. I really enjoyed the semi-meditative talk through at the beginning and end of the class. I felt like I got a good work out, and I felt mentally rejuvenated at the end. The studio has plenty of yoga mats if you don't have your own, as well as blankets, "bricks" (which I'd never used before, but they do help with some of the poses!), and small towels. There isn't really a private changing area, but there is a back space with sliding doors where they keep the aforementioned supplies. There are two sinks, hand soap, and a mirror there. There is also a water cooler in the front. I'd love to come back for this class whenever I have time. I don't know what their regular classes are like, but hopefully once I have a better work schedule I can try those too!

I'm a total novice at Pilates, so Tara took time to explain proper form and alignment, which I really appreciated. We spent the first part of the session doing mat exercises, and then she led me through some exercises on the Reformer. Tara was friendly, encouraging, and patient, and her explanations were very clear. She adjusted the exercises to my level (absolute beginner), but she also made sure that my form was totally correct, and I'm really grateful for that. Setting up the appointment through the Align website was easy, and I was relieved to find that the studio has its own parking lot, so I didn't have to worry about finding street parking. The studio space is clean, welcoming, and large. I'm looking forward to checking out the group classes at Align and maybe taking some more private sessions.

I was expecting an easier labor since it was my second, but it wasn't really the case. I was progressing slowly, but already at the hospital so after a while the pitocin talk started. I was exhausted at that point and started breaking down because, to me, that automatically meant c-section. Taylor helped us through the decision, encouraged us to speak up about our hesitations, and got me through labor on pitocin without an epidural. She was always ready with positions/tools and gentle but empowering words to help me keep going. Her soothing presence kept me and my husband calm. Her visits before and after were always pleasant and helpful. No matter what my fears and insecurities were about birth, motherhood or wife-hood, Taylor always validated my feelings, offered solutions and was never judgmental. She says I could have done it without her, but I just don't see how that would have been possible!

Definitely worth the money (currently $50)…read more You get access attend classes both in-person and virtually as well as access to that weeks video recording of classes. I attended over 14 classes by either medium in this time. It was a great way to try out a bunch of classes to see what you like. I am personally not a dancer (beginner) and have done more yoga and there were plenty of options that weren't intimidating. The instructors I met were all very nice and welcoming. I'll include my two cents on each class below- but note as I said I am a beginner dancer and I also did not read the descriptions on the website before booking, i usually signed up through the app. *Fun tip for shy or dancing-intimidated people you can attend classes virtually first (or watch the past recordings for that class prior) if your are unsure of the difficulty level before you sign up for in person. Check the schedule before buying the trial or classes, there are not many afternoon/evening classes especially on the weekend. Pilates - Loved the pilates classes the most, attended several in person. It's not on the reformer machines, its on matts. This was doable and lightly challenging with my existing exposure to yoga. If you have no exposure, as with many of these classes, you'll catch on after a class or two. Dance Fusion - If you are a dancer or were a dancer in the past this is probably the class for you. It's a lot of choreo and you learn a routine during the class, line up in paris or groups and do the routine. Too hard for me but I didnt read the description prior and attended virtually so it was fine. Thrive - This was a fun calm dance class, lots of older ladies there. it incorporates chair yoga, dancing, legs and arms work outs. You can still work up a sweat and get your cardio in but it's not high intensity. Groovefit- I think this was my second favorite class. It gives zumba vibes Totalfit- cardio/aerobics and weights, not too hard. can get sweaty Ballet- I attended 1 session virtually and it was not too hard considering my lack of experience. I think they had people line up in the in-person sessions and do leaps/ sashets one by one etc, I would have been nervous doing that. Overall I had a great time attending classes at Studio 509, this deal was totally worth it. Highly recommend

The yoga instructors each have a unique style which I appreciate. It's fun to mix it up each week. The classes are a little different than your typical vinyasa flow and might combine a slower flow with strength and core work, use of blocks, straps and other props, hip, heart and shoulder openers to counter all the sitting we regularly do, deep breathing, alignment and relaxation to end the class. Classes are small and Instruction is really individualized. Modifications are suggested if one can't do everything. The Weekday Warrior and Alpha Burn classes are similar, with Alpha adding more cardio into the mix. These are circuit-type classes where the students rotate exercises throughout. I love this time-based format because you work as hard as you can during the exercise period and then there's a short rest before the next exercise. Each class is a little different although exercises are repeated. These are small group classes with excellent instructors who correct form, suggest slight modifications if needed and really support your goals. Since I started at Evolve, my strength and flexibility have increased tremendously. I train consistently and safely. I have not suffered any injuries. Weight loss has not been my goal but I have lost body fat and increased muscle mass. Most important, I am healthy. At 50, my bloodwork is better than ever. I had driven past the studio hundreds of times and heard friends rave about the Pure Barre method and finally decided to take the plunge by taking their complimentary "Basics" class... and then I was hooked! Not only are the instructors warm and welcoming (even at 5:50am!) but they make it a point to learn your name and gently adjust you during class, so you can get the most out of each workout. The other thing that I love about Pure Barre is that the entire workout is shaped by accountability. There are no machines or distractions for you to compensate with... your mindset and your body get to be in charge of how hard you lift, tone and burn and that kind of accountability ignites the fire and confidence to push yourself more and more every time. Although I've only attended around ten classes, it is evident that not only my body has gotten stronger in this short amount of time, but so has the positive dialogue in my head. I also have to commend the studio on hosting live online workouts during the COVID-19 outbreak. I know that for many of us who thrive on routines and being physically active, the restrictions the coronavirus has placed on us has made it difficult to feel "normal." I am grateful that Pure Barre Short Hills has created a safe and healthy option for people to continue to build strength and confidence during these trying times.
