She loves school more than anything, to have your child beg to go to school, happy every morning is priceless. She grew to be a confident and kind girl and I am positive the school had an immense impact on this. I always felt heard, communication with leadership as well as teachers have been amazing. The performances always blow my mind and last years robotic show for first grade surpassed my expectations. Truly recommend.

Then, were so impressed with their handling of the pandemic in 2020 (we experienced no "covid learning loss"), it was an easy decision to stay on for the primary grades. And we have not been disappointed! We continue to have truly great teachers, that you can actually interact with every day at drop off and pickup and build relationships with them. I highly encourage anyone who is interested to schedule a tour or go to one of the open houses. Not only is it a charming environment, you will be amazed at how much more they manage to cover than just the basics. There is a focus on fine arts and performances, which are so great for confidence building. But they also get into robotics, go on cool field trips, and seem to have more fun events and activities than you might get in public school. The summer camp sessions are great, too! We'll be very sad to move on after 4th grade!

BEWARE! The teacher in this review is moving to the…read moreWoodlands campus next year. Beware, parents! *slight edit* I was just sent an e mail that this teacher is not at the Woodlands Campus but at Greengate Academy in Spring. I've lost count; this may be my 5th review. SHSU Charter has a way of making poor reviews vanish. My child used to attend SHSU Humble campus and I regret leaving him there as long as I did. My own background is almost 20 years in education as a teacher, trainer, curriculum developer, coach and specialist at both the site and district level. Due to the nature of my positions, I've literally been in 100s of classrooms. Most teachers are good, or at least have potential. It is the rare few that should not even be in the profession. The K/1 teacher at SHSU would fall into this category. First, the teacher was very rude and uncaring most all the year. She constantly ignored everyone and never let us know how our kids were doing. Anytime I tried to have a conversation with her she'd roll her eyes, sigh and basically act like a spoiled teenager. Next, it is NOT TRUE that SHSU charter doesn't do testing. They do MAP testing 3 times a year, weekly reading tests, and unit math tests alongside several science and social studies exams. It is also NOT TRUE that all the teachers are experts with over a decade of experience. While my child really liked the PE and music teachers and I heard positives about some teachers at other sites, the Humble teacher had never worked with a group larger than 8 and was in desperate need of a mentor or possibly a job change. Not once did I get the impression that she liked her job, the students and most certainly not the parents. Possibly she went into teaching thinking it would be easy, and lucky for her; her position was. Working all alone in a class of only 7 far from the main office in Woodlands must have been a dream come true. Nobody was checking in on her so she could do as she pleased, or more specifically, do as little as she pleased. Not working was certainly her motto. She arrived each day 15 minutes before class and left when the kids did. Each day the same 2 girls would get "red cards" for small infractions. As an educational coach I know, if 25% of your class isn't focused the problem isn't the kids, it's the teacher. The teacher became upset/ embarrassed when it was discovered she was playing on her phone rather than working. The kids would sit alone doing piles of worksheets while she sat at her desk much of the day. Due to being found out, she started a "new policy" that no parent was allowed 1 inch in the class without an appointment. I spoke to both the principal and superintendent about this, and they seemed perfectly happy with the idea of parents being cut off from their child's education. They disguised the door policy as being something all the sites were doing in response to gun control, but as I found out from a friend at another site; this policy was only placed at the Humble campus. One day I entered about 6 inches past the doorframe and was treated like gum on the bottom of her shoe. Yelling, screaming, eye-rolling and telling me to get out. She acted like a maniac in front of the class and I realized my child would be better served staying home watching TV than in a class with a lunatic. I pulled my child an hour later and he told me he was so happy and he never wanted to be in a class with a mean, bad teacher again.

My son started first and just grew so confident and learned so many things from this school. My daughter started after and she is getting this blossoming personality and just lights up when she sees her teachers. The owners and front office staff are the best humans and are willing to work with you. The best communication. This will always be the "the one that got away". Wish I could bring this school with me in my move. I want thank everyone at Klein-Spring Montessori for every single minute. You have been one family to me and we will miss you.

The school does what they call "transition days" I was explained it was 2 hours long for 2 days. Day 1, I take him and as expected we are both anxious I was worried the whole time expecting my son was high stressed, to my surprise I picked him up an hour later as instructed, and he was playing with the toys and engaging with his teacher, not crying not crying or fussing. Sandy, the owner (beware) explained that she was concerned and used verbiage like "I'm not sure if he's capable..." in reference to my child adapting socially. He is two and as they explained he is already ahead of their curriculum but we have struggled with the social aspect. She then implied to that ny two year old may have ASD or ADHD based on a single hour long interaction because he wasn't responding to His name for her. After ONE time around his for less than 2 hours. She said she didn't know if it would be a good fit after that 1 time. However, She suggested we try him in the class for two year old rather than the 3 year old Class he was in so he didn't regress. Her verbiage and response to My toddler naturally rubbed me the wrong way so I shopped around and prayed on it. I decided to entertain her theory of the toddler 2 class despite her obvious frustrations, since the directors were not the teachers. After taking him for the 2nd time I was immediately greeted with an eerie smile showing their clear discomfort that I was back with my toddler. She told me he couldn't eat the breakfast I brought although their rules are to provide their meals she wouldn't let me say bye and the later told me it won't be a good fit based on atom of contradicting statements. Just like most parents my baby is my world to be mistreated or given up on after a max of 2 hours total is disheartening. All children are not accustomed to childcare or exposed to other children. The behavior for Middle Aged women who are running a facility for out kids was disgusting. I want my son to be in a nurturing environment where he is given grace and patience rather than one of hostility and hopelessness for his future.
