The mailed estimate however was $14,000.00 and some change. They took down the trees and said someone else would remove the cut down trees and grind up and remove the stumps. The stump grinder came and said that he was only going to do 4 of the 5 stumps and I could pick out which ones. I called the company and told them that this wasn't the deal so th sent out their team again. I showed them that they didn't finish the tree trimming and ivy removal on a tree in the back yard. They said they needed a lift to do it and would be back but did grind the final stump. When the team came out to finish the tree in the back, that team said they weren't going to work for free and had the office call me and tell me there was an additional $600 charge to trim one additional branch that they had forgotten. I paid the almost $15k and told the office that the French Drain in my backyard was not working after they dropped 2 trees on top of it and I was told that the owner (Steve, the 5 star review on here), would come look at the French Drain. He never came but sent out the bill for the additional $600. So my estimate of $8,000 went up to $15,000.00 and I've got to find a contractor to repair what they crushed (the French Drain) and still haven't seen anyone from C S Flournoy to even look at what was damaged and what wasn't done. I had to remove the ivy from my trees myself even though that was part of the initial estimate. The secondary tree trimmers have left huge tire tracks across my front yard bc they didn't want to backup from the street.

We selected Truetimber because we liked the idea of arborists advising us rather than a generic tree service. I could not have asked for a better experience. James came out and walked the property with me. I told him we wanted to save as many trees as possible but were absolutely willing to take out anything that was sick or potentially dangerous. With that kind of latitude I assumed he would tell me 10 or so trees would probably need to come out. That was not the case. He said one old pin oak needed to go (we knew that, it has dropped major limbs several times.) He also pointed out four Red Tip Photinias that were dying (Again, we knew this.) Beyond this he didn't recommend any further removals but did note several trees in bad need of pruning for safety reasons. The quote came in about three days and was very reasonable. The work was scheduled for 8 weeks out. The crew showed up and was polite, professional, and thorough. They cleaned up everything and finished it all in a day. The stump of the pin oak was ground down 4 days later, ahead of schedule. The bill came in exactly at the estimate. A+++ Credit cards and debit cards accepted with a 3% fee attached.

The owner was great about showing exactly the work he would do and making sure we agreed. They called and came to do the work in just a few days. He has all the right tools. I never had tree work done without someone having to climb a tree. He has 2 lifts. The one he brought run on rubber tank like tracks and goes up 90ft. I was amazed. The stuff that would not fit in the grinder he had a lift arm to put it on a trailer. Very efficient crew of 4 guys I could not have been more pleased with the quality and price of their work. I was extremely impressed with his professionalism in reviewing the trees that I wanted down along with providing recommendations in identifying other trees that were at risk to our home. He also took the time to review trees that I could address on my own to take care of. Larry and his team were very expedient in their work where they had an impressive assortment of equipment to get the job done right. And in working with one family member that thought there was something wrong with a tree, he informed them that there was nothing wrong with the tree. A very honest company to work with where I would highly recommend.

The suggestions made by the owner, Paul Hutto, made a lot of sense and seemed more appropriate than plans put forward by some other companies. His prices were so much more reasonable compared to other quotes we wondered if the job would be done as thoroughly as we wanted. But we need not have worried."Thorough" is exactly Greenleaf's approach. The team was impressively professional and so well organized everyone was FAST. The team used two high-end pieces of equipment: a bucket truck and a chipper. The chipper made big branches just vanish. I know our job was a small one compared to what they are capable of but it was a big deal to us and we are much more comfortable now that some large overhanging branches are gone. The plans were mindful of the well-being of the tree in question, a large Spanish Willow Oak which is mature and healthy but with a tendency to drop heavy limbs. Some branches had crossed others so in windy conditions they would rub and cause damage. The tree is more balanced and therefore steadier after Greenleaf's treatment. We didn't consider it good luck that a strong storm blew down a bunch of branches the night before our Greenleaf appointment but they took on this additional work just like the rest of the project although the damage was not strictly included in the estimate. This typified the Greenleaf approach: above and way beyond what we expected them to accomplish. Here's an example of the care taken: if a branch threatened to fall on anything on the property that might be damaged, the team used a sort of rope and winch to ease the limb safely down to the ground with no harm done. When the team left after the job was done, you couldn't even tell that they had been here - except the place looked better than it did when they got here. After much research and comparisons with other companies we chose Greenleaf Tree for our project and what good luck it was that we did.
