BEWARE SHOPPERS, particularly those who shop estates for small items including media - records,…read morebooks, etc. Mulrooney asks buyers to use masking tape to identify items they wish to buy while they continue shopping. I am a record dealer and found out the hard way that they are fine with someone masking tape an entire collection of LPs before any other LP buyers have a chance to look. The estate sale company sets the rules, and Mulrooney should restrict the use of masking tape for smalls. Some estates have quantities of these smalls and the buyer who gets to scrutinize the collections first should not be the one who is earliest in line, is fastest, and who has the most masking tape. The masking tape approach is fine with furniture and large items, but they should restrict the masking tape use for small items. People with small item specialties have codes of their own, and it is unfair for a single buyer to claim entire collections before we all get a chance at picking. They just lost one solid customer. FOLLOW UP: Mulrooney seems to have forgotten that the people who come buy things from the estates he has are also his clients. To allow people to rush in and claim large quantities of smalls with tape is bad business for his buying clients, period. I also showed up hours earlier, was one buyer behind this other vinyl buyer. He got to the pile first, and then body blocked me when I expressed interest in the vinyl also. This approach is not supported in any other DC metro area estate sale companies. As I noted earlier, the community itself deals with these circumstances with a modicum of politeness and fairness. Not Mulrooney.

Had a terrible experience with Jeremy and Mulrooney Estate Services. Met with Jeremy for an estate…read moresale for my father's estate weeks in advance, and we scheduled both a prep date for the sale and a weekend in June for the actual sale. Jeremy's exact words at this time were "I'm going to lock you in for those dates so no one else goes on the calendar, and I'll check back with you near the end of May to make sure everything is still good." So I text Jeremy in the middle of May just checking in and reconfirming everything is a go. Jeremy texts me back if he can now schedule sometime in July. I call Jeremy and in his words "He gets tons of calls!" and "If we get a client that confirms for those dates then they have to take precedent". We were ALREADY confirmed. Jeremy's own words were that "no one would go on the schedule", and we ARE confirmed for that weekend. The only thing he said was that he would circle back end of May just to make sure we're good. We were always good. Now he wanted to change in July, and his second offer was in the middle of the week of another week in June, completely different dates (and no weekend). We had made all of our plans around the dates of the estate sale that we made with Jeremy. Completely unreliable, lied to me directly saying the dates "weren't confirmed" when they absolutely were and he even said "no one else would go on the calendar that weekend", and tons of time wasted and he could care less. I guess because he's getting "tons of calls!". Thanks for making an already incredibly difficult time that much harder. Wish I would've seen these reviews on Yelp earlier.

Writing this review as a BUYER at a sale run by this company (specifically someone named Aubrey…read moreGledhill). Came to a sale this past weekend and was pretty shocked at the unreasonable pricing on nearly everything in the house in question. As an example: Lily Pulitzer dresses priced at $20 each, when a resale shop would easily put them at $10. Was also there at the second half of the *last* day of the sale, yet Ms. Gledhill was deeply uninterested in making any kind of deals or accepting offers. I noted that a woman was interested in an extremely large and heavy hanging bell that was sitting unpriced in the basement, for which Ms. Gledhill wanted $50. When the woman said that seemed like too much, Ms. Gledhill copped quite an unprofessional attitude in her expression of disinterest in negotiating. I also must say I was shocked at Ms. Gledhill's attire. If this is meant to be an upscale estate sale agency, you would not have surmised this by her manner of dress; she seemed as if she had just come from a yoga class, and not like someone present and representing a classy agency looking to help turn over high end estates. At the same time, it seemed like there were many higher value items whose prices had been overlooked, so ironically I bought an epensive blazer and an vintage sweater for $5 each. If I was the *seller*, I would be quite irritated to know this. Based on what I observed as a *buyer*, I would not suggest turning to this agency for your estate sale needs.
