I have never had the pleasure of visiting this yarn shop in person so this review is solely based…read moreoff my experience as an online customer from California! I found Michigan Fine Yarns when looking for a place to supplement the soon to be closed Joann's. Someone recommended this on an online knitting forum and I took a risk. They have a very easy to navigate website with a ton of offerings in any color, thickness, weight, and material you could image. The only downside to being an online customer is that we cannot feel the yarn. However, I received a call once when purchasing the pink yarn where they inquired as to what I was making because there were two lots with different dyes used so there was a slight color difference. I was taken aback by how thorough their customer service was and how thoughtful that interaction was! I've attached photos of some projects that I have completed (I'm new to knitting so any mistakes are truly my own and not due to the yarn). I will continue to purchase from Michigan Fine Yarns as they have a range of yarns that can fit any budget. I like to work with the 100% Peruvian wool from Cascade yarns the most and my local yarn stores don't have them in the quantity that I need. I cannot wait until life brings me to Ann Arbor and I can visit this store in person! I might feel like I've died and gone to Heaven.

The yarns are high quality and reasonably priced for what you're getting. I bought value yarn for a…read moreblanket at $7.99/ea and it's beautiful, 20% wool, and has withstood multiple attacks from pets. The staff is very friendly as well. I'm rather introverted and I appreciate that they greet me but don't crowd me. They're very knowledgeable and the store hosts classes and offers 30 minutes of help on your project for $10. The only downside is it's very tight inside but I would say the selection is worth the sacrifice of space. If you're looking for your JoAnns replacement this is definitely it !!

She teaches me something new every time I am there. There is a wonderful selection of wool and alpaca yarns and everything is priced very competitively. Definitely come here and purchase since you can feel all of the yarns instead of buying online. Plus she is a wealth of knowledge and will always steer you in the direction that works for you, not just what is good for the business. I came in originally wanting to knit a super bulky blanket and instead of selling me yarn that would cost a mortgage, she recommended either I go to Joanns so a more affordable yarn, even if it wouldn't hold up as well over time, or to maybe pivot my project, unless I truly wanted to spend that kind of money. She is more than willing to order what you need as well. I have already learned so much and am so excited to have this shop near me.

The selection of different types of yarn and other fiber notions make for a fun fiber filled trip every time. Prices are also reasonable, it is always me first stop while looking for my next project.

There are great sample pieces to look at as well, showcasing different yarns they offer and patterns. I am always welcomed with such kindness and leave feeling so inspired! Amazing yarn store! The stock is great--a diverse selection, knitting supplies, books, and more!…read moreThe store is divided into two sections, and the larger section has a help table to aid people with patterns etc (so cool!) and also is where the store hosts events. The workers are very kind and helpful. I was quickly assisted in finding the yarn and tools I needed for a project. I was convinced to give metal knitting needles a try (I've only used wood so far) and I've been loving it! I got all my questions asked and more :) Being a knitting store, the price of items are a bit spendy, but that's also because the quality is great. The store sources beautiful yarns which comes at a cost, but you know what you're getting is great. They are also able to purchase print your patterns if they are on Ravelry (maybe other sites as well). Additionally, it's so important to support local stores like Ewe-nique Knits, so please stop by!
