I've been a loyal client at Beyond Hair Studio since November 2022. Every two to three months, I visit the salon, not just for myself but also for my three daughters who get their haircuts here as well. Orlando's work has always been the reason I kept coming back -- I've genuinely admired his craft and the way he's handled my hair in the past, which is why this review is especially difficult for me to write. Today's visit, however, was deeply disappointing and hurtful. My hair had grown out to shoulder-length, and I came in hoping to have it cut like Orlando had styled it this past winter. I even showed him a photo of the exact cut I wanted -- a cut he himself had done before. Unfortunately, what I received was far from what I asked for. The cut was uneven and didn't resemble the style in the photo at all. When I expressed that I wasn't happy with it, rather than acknowledge my concern, Orlando got defensive and began to justify the result by saying the original haircut had been done while I was transitioning from a pixie cut -- which didn't make sense to me, given that my hair is now significantly longer, offering more room for the same style. He then tried to convince me that "the length didn't matter," which completely dismissed my feelings and the photo I brought in for reference. What hurt the most wasn't just the haircut -- it was the way I was treated. I didn't raise my voice or create a scene. I simply told him I didn't like the result. Instead of an apology or a solution, I was met with frustration, blame, and ultimately, rejection. Orlando told me he no longer felt "comfortable" cutting my hair and that he "knows himself" and just "can't" do it anymore. After years of being a kind and loyal customer -- even bringing food to the staff to show my appreciation -- I was heartbroken to be treated like my loyalty meant nothing the moment I gave honest feedback. I quietly teared up in the salon. While Orlando ignored it, one of his staff members noticed and asked if I was okay. All I could do was gather my things and leave. Not being charged for the haircut didn't make up for the emotional experience of being dismissed and blamed after all these years. This experience was not just about a bad haircut -- it was about the lack of professionalism and empathy from someone I had trusted for years. Feedback, even when it's not positive, should never be met with rejection and blame, especially from a small business that has been supported with loyalty and gratitude.
Excellent service, great location and very clean. The staff is very welcoming and professional. This is my go to salon in the DMV. Orlando did an amazing job a capturing exactly what I envisioned: the color, ombre, cut and style. Angela did great blowout.
Will definitely visit again. I took my niece for a great haircut the day before and convinced my sister to go the next day for color and cut. Connie did a great job both times! My sister has long and thick hair so she was worried about how long it would take and the quality. She was pleasantly surprised at the time and how great her hair looked and felt after it was all done. Everyone was kind and friendly.
Orlando has been doing my hair for over a year now. He is great at his craft. I decided I wanted something completely different this time. We made our plan and Dulce executed the plan perfectly. She's very educated and explained the process and upkeep as we went along. As a bonus, Sama did my makeup and did an awesome job. The 3 of them made me feel like a queen today and I highly recommend all three!!! Before and after pic...
So, to begin with my hair was black I went in for a color correction to get a balayage. Left like a messed up calico cat:( However, my hair was multi colors after they completely bleached my hair twice. The reason I'm giving 1star is because I explained I wanted my grey hair blending on top and a lighter money piece. I left with absolutely no grey blending and my roots just covered with dark dye and absolutely no money piece. Also, my hair is still extremely brassy and very orange red with wheat colored highlights. Absolutely nothing that I wanted. I do understand there is a process and going from black to blonde is impossible but I wanted a caramel color. I was there from 10am till 6:30pm and I regretted the whole $800 process and now have to wait till my hair recovers from all the damage to find a new stylist with more experience in color correction. To get a whole new correction. So, positives the environment is great the employees are amazing I really liked the place everyone is very friendly and nice. I also, got my eyebrows done which was amazing definitely 5 stars for eyebrows. Would I recommend this place yes for hair cuts and yes for eyebrows. Absolutely would not recommend for color correction if you have black hair but in all fairness it's always a risk. However, the highlights aren't even at all completely different on both sides and just looks weird. The stylists was Orlando and Angela
Orlando has being doing my daughters hair for years and he is the best. He always does an amazing job. He also is helpful with hair health and provides her with the best way to protect and care for her hair. Everyone in the studio is always pleasant and polite. My daughter is very comfortable here and we will continue to frequent this salon. Thank you so much Orlando you're the best!
I loved my experience at the Woodbridge location! I had not been able to take care of my hair for 2 years and my color had grown out and my ends were horrible. I walked out a completely different person and I absolutely loved how they made my hair look and feel and the color... was amazing!! They even treated my scalp for my dandruff issue when washing my color and my scalp feels so soft! They did all that within my budget and I was so surprised! I would deff recommend this salon!!
This salon is must go. They are fantastic people, welcoming and accommodating. I got my hair colored from another salon and they messed up my hair color. So I called Beyond studio to request appointment and they booked me right away. They explained me all process of fixing my hair color and gave me price quote as well. End result was great I appreciate them. Highly recommended try them and thank me later
This salon was amazing! Everyone was super professional and nice! I LOVE my hair! I got a cut and color. Angela was wonderful and did an amazing job on my color and blowout. The owner even gave me a consult on my cut and color and I trusted him fully he even cut my hair himself. I will definitely be going back!
Came in with red hair and left with my beautiful natural brown hair. The workers are so nice, friendly, kind, and fast. They are a well oriented team that is very fast, but efficient with all their work. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone who has a tight schedule as well as anyone who wants to leave with beautiful soft hair!!! The salon itself was also very beautiful and so well clean. You can tell all the workers have hard work ethic and care about what they do!

After moving, I was stressed about finding a new salon that knew how to work with blonde hair. I have had negative experiences in the past and ended up wasting my money. Orlando at Beyond Studio did a phenomenal job of understanding what I needed and was able to provide his expertise on what the best route for my hair was after about a year of regrowth. He answered all my questions and walked me though each step during the highlights/balayage process. The service and kindness of all the staff was absolutely unbeatable as they truly cared about making sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. This was my first time at this studio and I will definitely be coming back! read more

This place is AMAZING! Run, I repeat, run here to get your hair done. You will not regret it. I was sitting on the fence about it for a while and after a disastrous hair nightmare, Orlando was like a knight in shining armor. Everybody at this place is so incredibly nice and professional. Orlando took the time to research looks for my hair and explained everything we needed to do to get it better and healthy again. Immensely happy with the results and with Orlando. He's amazing. Proof is in the pudding. I will include before and after photos read more

I can tell that owner really takes care of her business. My first experience here was not the best. She texted me right after I contacted them and suggested to redo my haircut the next day. Thank you Orlando for doing great job and fixing my hair! If you are coming to this place you should definitely ask for him!!! read more

I came to Beyond Studio at the end of my rope. Statements Salon destroyed my hair. Orlando saved my hair. He recommended no more highlights and totally changed my hair. He put in extensions, colored the extensions, and I am now on a new path to restore my extremely damaged hair. Orlando you are my hero. read more

I was there for Make up and Hair, the hair was fine but the make up was not what I expected, I went there because I needed a nice make up that lasted for a few hours and bc they have almost 5 stars (must be for the hair) I asked the lady for smokey eyes and she said that wasn't good for my eyes! I said I don't want fake eyelashes since mine are long enough, she insisted they were gonna look very natural and put them on, I told her I didn't like them and she said it was bc I had extensions on my lashes already! I told her they were my natural eyelashes and she insisted they were not! she didn't use primer, concealer, brushes (only for foundation) the eyeline wasn't done right, and the lipstick was a pink which I didn't like, I paid $145 for both hair and make up, ("with discount") wasn't worth it at all! I wouldn't recommend this for make up to anybody. read more

*Update: Now they are trying to get Yelp to remove my review, even though there is photo proof of there lack of customer service. They need to move on and maybe not send rude private messages if they don't want it to come back on them. I just tried to make an appointment as I'm looking for a new stylist and their website has a promotion that POPS UP, saying first time clients get 20% off when you call in and mention The Internet Promotion. So I called and the lady acted as if she had no idea what I was talking about and when I kept telling her "it's on YOUR website" she spoke with a manager who then said it's expired. I explained there is no date on this, it's not a printable coupon, it's a pop up on your own website. She just kept saying sorry it's expired, and so I told her it should be removed from the site if they won't honor it. She didn't even acknowledge my statement and just asked if I wished to continue booking an appointment. Nope. That right there is a red flag not to do business with them. read more

DO NOT GO TO Beyond Hair Studio, especially if you have a biracial child!!! Please read about my daughter's horrible experience at this place! What makes me that much angrier is that they were trying to tell me that her hair had to have been really messed up for a long time before I brought her in! Anyone who knows me and has even just seen Talia knows that this is absolute BS!!!! (Pictures in comments!) My daughter had the most awful experience ever in her life yesterday! She's 6 and we brought her in to get a hair cut and left with two huge mattes in her hair that took HOURS for a different hair stylist to comb out! When I brought her in yesterday, she had her hair in a braided pony tail in the back with a couple of tangled that are there every day just because of the nature of her hair. I comb and brush her hair and put it into braided pigtails or braided pony tails every singe day. When she first got to the hair place, Dina took My daughter to the sink and just put shampoo into her hair and started rubbing it with her fingers. Then, she took conditioner and started putting it into her hair. By this time, my daughter's hair had become even more tangled. Dina took a comb and started combing it at the top and not the bottom like it should be done. Then, she had my daughter sit in a chair and three different people worked on combing her hair. It was apparent that they didn't know what they were doing. I told the guy that was combing her hair that I comb her hair every day and that I've never had to deal with tangles like the ones she had after they had been combing her hair. So, I started to explain to the guy how I comb her hair. He asked me if I could show him how I comb her hair and I stood up and started trying to comb her hair the way it needed to be combed (from the bottom tips of her hair to the top). I was able to get one side of her hair combed the right way. Another lady came over and told me that she knew what she was doing and that she would take care of combing it out. This had taken me an hour to get through this part of her hair since my daughter had shampoo and conditioner put in her hair that wasn't appropriate for her hair and people combing her hair that didn't know how to comb it. The other lady tried to comb through her hair and when we were by the sink, she asked me who it was that had started doing her hair in the first place. I told her and at one point, she brought Dina over to let her know that the way she started doing her hair wasn't the way that biracial children should have their hair done in the first place. She brought my daughter back over to the chair and started to continue trying to comb her hair. By this time, my daughter had two huge mattes in her hair. The lady started talking to me about having to cut them out or having me order dread removing cream from the internet. Finally, she told me that there was nothing else that she could do and asked me if I wanted to go over and sit on the couch to talk about what could be done. Then, she started asking me what happened to her hair and tried to tell me that her hair had to have been like that for more than a day. I told her that I do my daughter's hair every single day and he hair is always done nicely. (I also told her that her child care provider and teacher see her every day and can attest to how nice my daughter's hair looks EVERY single day.) Needless to say, she kept asking me to tell her "the truth". Then, she kept telling me that she could either cut my daughter's hair out or that she could put it up into a ponytail and I could order dread removing cream from the internet and see a dread specialist. I was fuming by this time and eventually, I had the strength to get up and leave the store. She said there was nothing else she could do at that point and she said that she'd take "full responsibility " for it. Not being willing to leave my daughter's hair with two huge mattes in it, I contacted a hair stylist who was willing to come in and help me with her hair. Tracy worked for about 5 1/2 hours to get the mattes out of my daughter's hair. Thankfully, because Tracy knee what she was doing, she didn't have to cut the mattes out and she was able to put my daughter's hair up in a braided ponytail before we left the shop. Please note that this was an awful experience for my daughter. There were several times when she was crying and saying that her head hurt. She fell asleep on my lap and her scalp was so tender. I felt horrible for her and I would NEVER recommend that anyone go to Beyond Hair Studio, especially with a biracial child. However, about 8 hours later and after paying $100, my daughter's hair is finally the way it was the day before bringing her to Beyond. In response to the comment below - no, I didn't pay $100 yesterday. The $100 was paid to the hair stylist who spent HOURS removing the mattes that were made in her hair by Beyond! read more

Hair Cuttery ruined my hair with a horrible bleaching job and made it weak, dry and brittle. Orlando took the time to examine the damage and figured out a plan to revive my hair. I came out the salon with my hair being the healthiest it has been in a very long time, even after Orlando did some babylights. Orlando and his team did such an amazing job!! I've been seeing Connie for my color and haircut for the last few years. I've had a hard time letting someone color my hair because of previous damages but Connie has been great! She is an absolute professional and takes care of you 100%. She is thoughtful and careful. Spends time with her clients and will take time making adjustments. No rush, great style, i trust her with my hair. read more

Very patchy, stylist missed my roots in the back and front. The stylist was very sweet and managed to save some inches on my hair after the bleach, however, $300 for this patchiness doesn't seem justified. Keep in mind I have not washed my hair since the color was first placed (about 5 days, I was told to wait a week or my hair would fall out!), so color has not been washed out, this is the way it was left at the salon. The staff was friendly and they educate their clients prior to starting the hair color/cut process which I greatly appreciate, but missing patches like this is disappointing. read more

Is anyone at the salon a curly hair specialist? My hair is extremely curly & thin, I really need a haircut but with my hair being so curly I haven’t had a good time with salons .
No! I wouldn’t trust that place ever again!
I have very dark skin but I'm looking at permanent hair removal options (bikini area and beyond. Which laser equipment do you all use? And is the owner able to perform the procedure personally? Do you numb the area prior to starting the procedure?
And Beyond Studio we don't perform laser does hair skin removal but we hold a master aesthetic and cosmetologist and this is what we recommend you…
