I absolutely love this place! I used to come here all the time as a kid when they were in their old location. The amount of costumes and props they have is astronomical! It's honestly the perfect place to rent a costume for an event or to have the most amazing costume for Halloween. They also have a large amount of props and decorations you can also rent as well. It's run by the same woman who used to run it back in the 90s. This Place is the best place in westchester and Beyond that has over 20,000 Costumes instock for rent or sale in a 12,000 sq foot Warehouse in South Yonkers. they supply broadway with their costumes authtic period costumes from all Peirod, Monkey suits you name it they got it. So this year instead of buying a crappy costume for 80 plus 50 for the accesories you can rent a quality costume and all the accesories and custom Tailoring included for around 80 bucks. This place is terrific! They have a GIGANTIC selection. I think they rent to professional TV and movie productions, but they have the personalized service to rent to regular people. They had exactly what we were looking for for our tradeshow presentation. The women there are incredibly friendly and incredibly helpful. I think they did sewing alterations to our costume for only about $6. Finally, our costume got lost by the shipper when they shipped it back from our trade show, and Beyond Costumes was totally understanding and didn't even change us a late fee. THE BEST!!! One other note, park across the street from the building, there are inexpensive parking meters. It's on the second floor and they have to buzz you in. read more

Beyond Costumes is my first stop and usually last for ALL costume needs, rentals and purchase. The owner, Yan, a lovely person, who will work with you to get the exact look you wish. The alterations department will give you the perfect fit. Biggest selection I have ever seen and plenty of "multiples of an item". The customer service is tops. I had to put up a rating and review after reading some of the reviews. We have a special events and entertainment business, yep a small business, like Beyond Costumes, who has added a whole new inventory of costumes from Creative Costumes which was another great small costume renting business in NYC. I use this business to rent costumes for our professional actors and variety performers and I cannot, and should not, go to Party City to do that. They have authentic and beautifully constructed pieces, an decent selection of period costumes (wish their period hats were better organized and displayed) -- we just costumed the Royal Family and Kensington Palace guards this week. If you are a costume designer I feel they are certainly worth a look and wish they had their inventory online but they've got everyone extra sewing, which tells you they are busy. At least 2 to 3 sales costumers available to help, who are always busy when not helping, tweaking, cleaning and steaming items that go back into their stock! If a costume smells musty in other words, they are more than happy to clean as it hasn't been worn or cleaned that year (I admit, like some formal wear in my closet). Discounts to student productions, which makes me want to support them even more. Well run and helpful small business which I wish there were more of instead of Party City. read more

Bad customer service. Rented a couple costumes (took a long time to find someone to help us); picked them up on the day of the event and found one of the items defective/unusable upon returning home. Asked for a refund and was told they wouldn't refund the rental because, "that's just how rentals are"- (i.e., "we don't guarantee serviceable products, and if you rent an unusable item from us anyway, we will charge you for it"). When I questioned this policy, I was told that since I brought home the defective item and didn't notice it ahead of time, "technically they could charge me for it." Not going back here. read more

This place is amazing. A friend told me to go for the pieces we were missing for my son's costume. It seems they really do have everything. The hat I picked out was even big on my head so they conveniently gave me some foam tape so size the hat smaller for him which worked perfectly.
