Ethan is visually impaired and has multiple disabilities. He has been attending Beyond Blindness since he was a year old. The staff is attentive and helpful. They are the only people other than family who I trust to take care of Ethan. Ethan has shown immense progress from having difficulty attending early intervention and not being able to sit up and to now walking to class. He is always happy to go to preschool. He loves Ms. Alicia, they are the best buddies. As you walk into their campus, you feel welcomed! My son and our family have been involved with Beyond Blindness for years. My son is 11 now and has been receiving services from their staff since he was 5 months old. My son is completely blind in both eyes and has multiple disabilities, he would not be where he is today, walking, talking, and reading braille, without them. The staff has been by our side every step of the way and what they could not help with they found resources for us. This is a very special place and filled with teachers and staff with the biggest hearts, who have the experience and skills necessary to work with kids who are visually impaired and have other disabilities too. 5 stars! I try to spread the word about Beyond Blindness as much as possible because they have been a blessing for our family. I spent countless hours calling different facilities only to be left in tears when no one was able to take on proper care for my son. Then we found Beyond Blindness. We began receiving services with in home early intervention before my son turned 1. Soon after, he began their day program. Being around the kids, the amazing staff, and getting all of the group therapy offered during the school day, he blossomed. They have all kinds of adaptive equipment so that my son can always participate, they make sure to have a ton of staff and volunteers as needed to give him and the other children the assistance they need, and they always make him feel loved. He is now enrolled in their preschool program since it opened up again this year. We drive 160 miles round trip just to have him at this school. That's how much we love it! To top it off, they always have free, inclusive events for the entire family. These events give us the chance to let our son participate in activities that he otherwise wouldn't be able to thanks to their innovative ways to make them adaptive (ice skating, horse back riding, etc). In preschool, he receives group physical, occupational, speech, and play therapy. We also have him enrolled in one on one speech with their speech therapist. The services are endless and the care they show for the kids is priceless. It's the only place I can drop my son off and know that he's well taken care of which is so hard to find when your child is nonverbal. When we first heard of Beyond Blindness, we were skeptical if it was the right place to entrust our 1st born child. As new parents, we had our son in a program that was highly rated, only to be disappointed that he didn't behave in a manner that made it easy for them. We were recommended to Beyond Blindness, as a place that works with infants and toddlers, that understands that each child needs love and care, in their own way. After attending orientation, we were amazed to see the amount of resources offered by BB. From many specialist, to help and support for family members as well. They care about the well being of the children, and that includes making sure the Family is also cared for. Additionally, they have events on a monthly basis, that allows us as a family to spend more time together. Movie night was our favorite so far, we hadn't been on a "date night" in some time, and the kids were able to join and watch a Movie all together. Encanto, popcorn, candy, and a drink for each family member, how can that not be a perfect day. Our son enjoys being at school 5 days a week, and we feel better knowing the curriculum is fun, relevant, and challenging. My son has special needs with a vision component and at 2 years old, Regional Center sent us to Beyond Blindness to receive services in Early Start. The first time we came on campus, I was so relieved to see what a small and welcoming place it is. Immediately, I felt my son was safe in this environment. He has now been receiving services there for three years and my love and gratitude for this special place has only increased. My daughter was hospitalized for 421 days. Upon her discharge, I was extremely anxious and nervous to start her therapy regiment. Beyond Blindness has been heaven sent to my family. I've had the absolute pleasure of working closely with one of their physical therapist, Katrina. She is extremely knowledgeable, takes time to throughly explain things, she's always enthusiastic, and she is so sweet and patient with my two year old. Katrina makes PT fun and is great at making necessary modifications so my daughter can reach her full potential during her sessions. When my daughter started therapy a little over a year ago, she was wasn't able to hold her head up without assistance. Now she's doing independent sitting, rolling over, and practicing her sitting to standing. I would highly recommend Beyond Blindness to anyone. Especially if you have a medically fragile child like me. They go above and beyond to support and treat their clients well and like an extension of their family. read more

My review for Beyond Blindness is way overdue, and is much needed. I am new to having a child with special needs. And my son was placed in Regional at 7 months old (13 months now) and was approved to start getting his therapies through Beyond Blindness. This was the only facility that had available times PT/OT/Speech therapy... so, we had no choice but to take him here. Yelp didn't have a lot of reviews listed, so I really did not know what to expect, and was VERY reluctant to take my baby here. After some time has passed and seeing the kind of care my son has received with each of the therapists and staff members. I cannot say enough great things about this facility and the staff working here. I am a Registered Nurse and have worked with many therapists in hospitals, but I AM SO PLEASED with the kind of care my son has received from Beyond Blindness. Not only do they truly care about my son, but they also care about each and everyone one on the family members as well. Their value statement says,"Recognizing that special needs impact the entire family, and that support and resources provided to the family directly affect a child's ability to thrive." And they mean it! This facility cares about providing a safe and nonjudgmental environment for our children with special needs and for siblings with every event they have. We absolutely love their monthly events where it includes all family members to enjoy. The past event Beyond Blindness has had was movie day at the cinema one cinema for the sensory sensitive and the other theater for the non sensory sensitive, strawberry field Picnic, and many more. Aside from these events they have all been so kind, patient, supportive, and informative about everything. They know and understand that having a child with special needs can stressful physically and emotionally. Since being apart of the Beyond Blindness Family we have felt less alone, and more supported then EVER! Beyond Blindbess has a great program, awesome teachers and stuff that they support our child's developments. The teachers are patient and knowledgeable and the school staff are very kind and helpful. My identical twins have been seeing Vivian, Andrea, Hannah, Jessica, and Nancy since they were teeny weeny and they are now almost 3 years old. My son has received services here for 9 years. He is visually impaired and has multiple disabilities. He has received vision therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. Every staff member I have met has been great! He has made so much progress thanks to the dedication of everyone at Beyond Blindness. The school district has taken over providing speech, OT and PT at his current school, but fortunately we were able to continue Vision Therapy through Beyond Blindness. My daughter who had a speech delay also received speech therapy at Beyond Blindness for some time until she entered kindergarten. Bright Visions Early Childhood Center at Blind Children's Learning Center has been such a blessing to my family. It is the only school in Orange County where my girls can go to school together. My five year old visually impaired daughter was struggling in the local school district because no one had the experience and skills necessary to teach a child with limited vision. Now, at Bright Visions Early Childhood Center, she is learning in an environment with other kids like her as well as well as with typically developing kids her age. This environment works best for her because she can identify with the other disabled and visually impaired kids and can learn from the typically developing kids. My youngest daughter is a typically developing 17 month old and also attends Bright Visions Early Childhood Center. I love this program for her because not only does she get to go to school with her sister but she gets to learn and play in an environment that is multi-sensory. Bright Visions Early Childhood Center is better than a typical preschool because students are taught using multiple modalities while integrating sensory experiences in an inclusive environment that is more like the real world than a typical preschool. Both my girls are learning empathy, compassion, and leadership in addition to their academic learning because they are in a school that welcomes students of all abilities. Bright Visions Early Childhood Center at Blind Children's Learning Center is Orange County's best kept secret but it's time to get the word out there.
