Really disappointed in the maintenance/service that i've been getting here at Beyer Subaru nowadays, as they used to be so much better. I feel like the atmosphere is very drab, people aren't quick to move, so I end up staying here for hours on end for services that should be more efficient. I had a service done here a few months ago and ended up staying all day. No one told me it would take that long, no one recommended that I maybe take a loaner, and at the end of it all, they had me take a loaner because they never got to my car. As a courtesy, they gave me a "free detailing". When I came back, they never got to the detailing and by the last hour of when they were open, they ended up doing a super quick job (albeit a fairly bad job) in detailing the car. It wasn't even worth the courtesy service for their inefficient services. I'm so disappointed in how long they've been taking to do routine maintenance. Every time I would check in and ask, the service advisor would not necessarily own up and take accountability. Even state safety inspections are estimated to take 2 (or more) hours, despite how early you may schedule your appointment. Since the intense downturn, I've been taking my car to another Subaru dealership, which has been a much more pleasant experience. Please do better, Beyer Subaru. You were once so great. read more

My son and I were interested in a used 2016 Subaru Crosstrek Premium we saw online, we spoke with Mario and wanted to see said vehicle that afternoon, but Mario asked us to waiting until Saturday morning so he could attend a dance recital. Fine, we understand, assuming the vehicle would be held for us to see. The following morning, it was cold, and windy with a severe wind chill, (coldest day of the year in early February?) drove 10 miles and made the appointment, only to find out the vehicle was sold the night before. Entering the service lane I'm met with a super friendly advisor that was super transparent and informative with wait times and what exactly was getting done to my vehicle. Did a little walking around . The receptionist,parts clerk and even the sale team just super friendly. Did not feel like a dealership at all from what I'm used to. By far the worst customer service this morning. We usually come in and get sandy. Sandy is great, professional, keeps us informed, and is a true problem solver. This time we had the misfortune of dealing with Shay - yes that's right DEALING WITH (because she treated us like an inconvenience). From the moment we pulled into the garage we noticed that she begrudgingly was willing to help us and didn't even bother to say hello. Immediately started barking our existing reservation out loud with no mannerisms. ZERO SOFT SKILLS. Worse, we get to the desk and the entire time treats our maintenance appointment like an inconvenience. It's like we had asked her to do the maintenance herself! We weren't even looking for a special service to get done to our car. Just appalling. We had the best experience at Beyer today. My daughter lives in Virginia attending college for the next 2 years and we wanted her in an AWD Subaru Crosstrek. Not being able to physically help her while in California she was on her own setting up a new lease agreement. I can't say enough good things about her experience. I always choose Beyer Subaru where i got my 2020 Forester Touring. I prefer this location for car maintenance etc. Today , i went for a change oil, After two hours the gentlemen who's assisting me came and say everything was good except for old wipers , i keep waiting and waiting , it was almost 3 hours but my car hasn't done yet. I asked and he said it's coming out soon. I admit i'm being impatient because it never happens before, they should tell me what was the reason, the hold out, or why it took longer but no words , i've seen people come and go, i've seen people who came later than myself but they had left already, i've been waiting for more minutes and finally it's done! I can not believe the high cost of service Beyers Service department. I went in for an oil change and safety check and ended up paying $647. They wouldn't pass my safety because light bulbs, the little ones that goes around the actual lights. The headlights were functioning fine. They charged me $43.98 to put in a $3.40 bulb twice, quoting the lightbulb cost over the phone as being $43.98, not mentioning the actual bulb cost. They charged me $157 labor for putting a battery in. They wanted me to do a Premium Service that would have double charged the battery check, tire rotation and oil change. The service department is unclear about the actual costs of items. read more

Bought a Subaru in March. The sales reps are amazing! Very knowledgeable and friendly. The day we bought the car was awesome and it was seamless and one of the best car buying experiences I've had. From there it all went downhill. They didn't pay off my trade in until 30 days later. I almost had to make another payment on a car I no longer owned and they had already sold to someone else because they failed to pay it off. It took multiple phone calls to them and for them to overnight the payment for them to make it right. The worst part was tag and title. We bought the car in mid March and now it's mid July and I finally got my license plate situated. They were supposed to simply transfer the tag. Six weeks went by and no new registration. My temp tag had long expired. I have to call them. They send another temp tag. That expires. Still no registration. I have to call multiple times, leave multiple messages. Then I get a call that my new tags are in. I call and explain that we were transferring tags. They are disabled veteran tags and they gave me traditional tags. They don't know what to do. It's another 3 weeks of phone tag before someone ultimately admits that they can't fix it. No apologies. Just an oh well. So we had to spend an entire day at the DMV with my disabled husband to get the plates corrected. They were able to fix it immediately and had no clue why the dealership messed up as bad as they did. The worst part for me was that I had to constantly call them and stay on top of it and they took zero responsibility for the error. I'd still be driving around on expired temp tags. It's a shame because the sales team is amazing but the management is for crap read more

Wow, I don't think I can go to any other spot to get my husband's Subaru serviced! Very easy to get to and check in. Employees were efficient and friendly. They did heavily suggest I add on one of the premium service packages but once I declined they didn't press it any further which I appreciated. They offer pick up and loaner cars but I opted to wait while service was done. I had a recall repair and added on a standard oil change. They gave me a time estimate and showed me to the spacious and comfortable waiting area. Two large TVs but not playing too loudly so I could read my book in peace. There were also plenty of magazines as well as packaged snacks, fresh popcorn, water, tea, and coffee. I really am writing the bulk of this review on the waiting room but it was a very enjoyable and easy experience for me overall! After staying home for so many months this felt like a vacation I definitely won't be going back to the previous location I went to with a small outdoor waiting area! Masks aren't required if you're vaccinated and I noticed an employee thoroughly sanitizing the areas while I was there. I highly recommend this location! read more

I bought a 2023 Subaru Outback here in late 2022. Purchase experience was very good. I was told that one service would be free each year. On year two I was told that I never was told such a thing. Strike 1. My car with 6700 mile on it started having electrical issues, shutting down without warning, warning lights on, losing connection with Eyesight system. I made an appointment, but called, since I will be leaving town in 4 days for an extended period. I was told an appointment did not mean they would actually diagnose my car, they still had cars backed up for a week. It is still on warranty, which I don't want to run out. It was suggested I try another dealership, which I did and they can diagnose it as a drive in within 2 hours. Strike 2. I guess I found a new dealership for the new Subaru I was planning to purchase (but might not if this issue is any indication). read more

I purchased and picked up my car in April 2022 and I'm STILL (as of July 2022) waiting for my title and license plates. The salesmen I've been working with have been unreliable and did not submit all of my paperwork to their title and tax team, despite sending it to them virtually THEN BRINGING IT IN PERSON. My bank is now saying my loan is going to go into default if they don't get my title, yet Beyer Subaru doesn't seem to care. If I could return my car so I could go to another dealership, I would. I've gotten three temporary tags from them, and not ONCE when i went into their dealership did they mention I was "missing paperwork." This is a great spot to get your Subie all fixed up! I've been here a couple of times, and can't complain. The customer experience is great - you are welcomed when you drive up and the technicians make it easy for you to understand what's going on. The waiting room they have is really nice - fresh popcorn and candy, plus some good ol' daytime TV while you wait :) When I was there last time, they offered to check the ambient temperature sensor that seemed like it was acting up after I had my car fixed. They offered to order the part and get it fixed whenever I had the time. It turned out that the sensor was fine, but I really appreciated the extra effort they took to make sure that the car was in tip-top shape. I'll keep coming back here as long as I'm in the area. I was interested in some information on a BRZ to model. I sent a request for information and got a reply from Franco Deoliveria who answered all of my questions. I asked that they not send me unsolicited emails and that I would reach out to them if I had questions. Franco replied that was fine and that he would try to get answers to any questions I had. Over two or three days, I sent a him a couple of emails. His answers were always prompt and very helpful. Other than the responses to my emails, there were no unsolicited emails from him or the dealership. I was totally amazed, car salespeople don't list to what you ask or request and yet, that was exactly what he was doing. If I do decide to buy a BRZ it will definitely be from Franco at Don Beyer Subaru. The level of service and attention to buyers requests was totally amazing. I purchased a used automobile from Beyer and was remiss in looking it over carefully. Noted on the paperwork was a small accident. The damage was not apparent when I went to see the car but as I am driving it, the damage is more apparent. The car was taken on a trade-in and was not badly dirty but it was obvious that it had not been washed nor cleaned which I believe is routine and standard procedure. I find this transaction was sloppy and leaves something to be desired. This is also a disappointment as a relative also purchased a used vehicle which was a successful transaction. read more

Very disappointed with my recent car sales experience at this dealership. You cannot trust them to deliver on their word. At first I was impressed with the salesperson following up politely, not pushy, on my on line inquiry in my search. He checked in via text and proposed at car at a pretty good price, enticing me to make the hour long journey to the dealership and offered, in writing, a 100,000 mile certified dealership warranty since the car, while new, had been purchased and then returned because the owner wanted a different car. Once I arrived and test drove the car, he said he could not offer the extended warranty! I was shocked and asked why he could not honor his word. He said that it would cost the dealership an extra $1,200 to extend that warranty. So instead he agreed to offer a back seat cover (Subaru accessory) to protect the light colored cloth seats to make up for what he said was 'his mistake'. I accepted and bought the car. Yet when the car was delivered a few days later to my home, the back seat cover was not in the car. He promised to order the cover and send it to my house. It's been a couple of weeks and I still haven't received it, and the salesperson is ignoring my calls and texts asking when it will arrive. read more

Purchased a new 2023 Ascent Onyx edition in May 2023. Pretty good experience, but we new what we wanted and made a decision in about 15 minutes...only hiccup was that dealership never called when my plates/registration arrived at their location. When I called the VA DMV about the status, they told me the dealership had the items for 2 weeks. The dealership admitted they lost track and then overnighted the items. If this review were only about the sale, they'd get 4 or 4.5 stars. The single star rating is for the lack of support following the sale with a widely known and continuing problem with multiple Subaru models - parasitic battery drain. There was a recent class action settlement about this problem, which if you read Subaru owner forums, still exists in multiple new models. Within the first 45 days following the purchase, the battery in the Ascent was fully dead after the car sat for about 10 days while we were away. I called Beyer's who sent a roadside service that jumped the car. What I really wanted was an explanation of why this happened. This was my 6th new car in roughly 20 years (but first Subaru) and I never had this happen with other cars. The technician, who was not a Subaru employee, told me that he regularly handled dead Subaru batteries in new cars, and that his advice was not to let the car sit more than a few days! Fast forward to June 2024, and I would estimate that despite trying to manage this issue, the Ascent battery has had to have been jumped more than 10 times, and most recently after only about 4 days. That was the final straw and I called Beyer's, who offered to perform a parasitic battery drain test. I arrive at Beyer's at 10AM and explain the issue to the service employee and to a technician (not sure it was the tech who worked on the car.) I did explain that the tech I spoke with to schedule the appointment mentioned the parasitic test -- in fact, he was the one who said that was what was needed. Despite that being the reason for the appointment, after 3.5 hours, all Beyer's had done was test the battery, which they had not yet completed! I was incredulous that it could take 3.5 hours to test a battery, but the larger issue was that they had not even started on the drain test -- the service that was the reason for the appointment. So after 5 hours of a workday, I know nothing more than I did a year ago (although I know a lot more after reading many owner stories about the same problem with their new cars.) I have a $45K 2023 Ascent with ~3K miles that can't sit more than a few days before the battery dies (which then temporarily disables the anti-collision and other safety features.) To keep the car usable, I have to routinely plug it into a battery charger and I certainly can't leave it at an airport or take it anywhere where I must be able to rely on it starting. It is extremely likely this will be my first and last Subaru, and I certainly can't recommend Beyer Subaru, who didn't seem particularly interested in helping solve this widely known problem with the cars they sell. read more

I have purchased 2 Subarus from this dealership. Their service personnel are exemplary professionals. I managed to destroy my passenger sideview mirror on Tuesday. I called to see if they had the replacement part in stock because I wasn't going to bring it in for the repairs until they were ready to do the job. I spoke to Shea on the service desk and Josh in the parts department. Josh said he could get the replacement part in 2 days. I made an appointment for 7:45 AM on Monday morning. I called on Friday to confirm that they had the replacement part in house. I arrived at Don Beyer at 7:30 AM Monday and was out with a new sideview mirror and a freshly washed car at 9:30 AM. They offer courtesy rides to the closest Metro Station and if you opt to wait for your car to be serviced you can enjoy the free wifi and the company of your dog. read more

HORRIBLE. I traded my Volkswagen for a Subaru at Beyer in December 2020. They messed up and didn't even try to get the VW car title, so I continued to receive monthly bills from VW. I had to call 4 - 5 times to get Beyer to request the title, and finally mid-April they got it. I've gone through this exact process with Toyota years ago and did not have these problems. This is clearly a Beyer Subaru mess. When they took over my lease, they told me that Beyer would now be responsible for all payments on that VW vehicle going forward (common sense). NOW they are telling me that because that transaction happened 7-days before my next monthly payment they are not going to pay that bill. Now they're saying they needed to have 10-days advanced warning. Nightmare. read more

We bought a new car here in 2020 with extended guarantee. when they were cleaning our air filter for routine maintenance they notified us they found a mouse in it. Well they decided to leave the dead mouse in the passenger seat for us. they often return the car dirty or with trash in it after routine maintenance but this was the worst. We often have to argue with them to honor the service agreement we purchased when we bought the car. When we dropped it off for mandatory annual state inspections this year they performed one and not the other so we had to take it to another dealer to complete the inspection. read more

I purchased a used car from this dealer back in September 2022. Although the process and communication leading up to the sale was great, I can no longer say the same since the sale was completed. I have had repeat difficulty reaching various staff from different departments which include finance, tag and title and sales. During the test drive and prior to the purchase, I brought to the attention of the salesman a few concerns about the car (no access to the glove compartment, a warning VSP light on dashboard and charge system warning on dashboard). I was assured that all of these items would be taken care of when I picked up my car. I was also told I would have a limited warranty of 30 days or 1,000 miles in case any major issues came up. When I picked up the car the glove compartment wasn't repaired. I was told by the car salesman that they are looking for the part and would call me to bring my car back for repair. I have called and was told the part is hard to find but have not had any other updates since and it has been 2 months. The list of repairs done after purchase and prior to pickup only included work done for the power steering. Just under the 30 day mark the VSP light kept appearing and the car ultimately stalled. I reached out to the salesman and sent him a picture as well as an update and he never replied. I then had to pay for the repair via my own mechanic. I have also called back and left a message for the sales manager to discuss my concerns and have not heard back from him as well. Tomorrow makes 2 months since I officially purchased the car and I still have not received my permanent tags. I just had to contact them again for my 3rd set of temporary tags. Unfortunately I expected more from my transaction with this dealer and would advise everyone to avoid making car purchases from them moving forward. read more
