And you want a water feature too?? Seems someone is practising a bit of wishful thinking.... or.... they have been to Steel Park. If you are looking for a place to have a picnic with the kids, then this is it. You should know however that it is not perfect. The playground is not fenced off. The kids can access the river. The water feature has a lot of stone (which is not soft if kids fall on it). Finally.. if you did not know about the water feature and come here with children, no matter what you tell them, they will be a sopping wet mess by the time it is time to go home. All is all... so long as you actually pay attention to your child and supervise what they are doing (I know know I am likely asking far too much here), then they will have a blast, and the person "minding" all of the stuff at the picnic mat (as they read their book and sun bake a little) will also be able to relax a little. Need I say more. Check this place out. Still to find an awesome cafe in spitting distance, but you'll survive. I did... :-)

In fact, the park itself is quite big, and the facilities are pretty good as well. Not only is there a decent sized oval, but there is also restrooms, which is something that I always appreciate. This is definitely a nice place for a day out, or even a picnic.

My favourite place to go to is Rockdale south Bicentennial Park; it's close to home, ample parking and something for everyone. There are lots of swings and slides as most parks would have. What I find really interesting a boat shaped equipment called the wave rider. My Son and I just jump into it and we make it go up and down, little side to side and pretend that we are riding a boat. Fun! There are other see-saws and other play equipment. It's a pretty good spot for barbeques and picnics as well. There is a bike track or you could call it a jogging track which a lot of people use. And then there is a huge skating rink that is always filled with kids wither on their scooty's or skate boards. I always see younger children just enjoying looking at the older kids doing their stunts. Also they have a swing for the disabled children which I found so thoughtful. Basically they can just go and slide their wheelchair up on it and swing away. Aww ..every child( even disabled) deserve to go swinging..

It's a park right by the cooks river with heaps of history attached !! ..... Tempe House stands amidst the towering Modern Megaliths and preserves its charm with lovely landscaped gardens and native trees & plants to the region. I love Wolli Creek for many reasons ..... Discovery Point is just one of many.

And what better way to have lunch than in a castle? Mock castle that is, but it's amazing all the same. The view from the top reveals everything the park has to offer, including the amazing waters of Jew Fish Bay. But amongst its many swimming opportunities, the park also has some great windy bike and walking tracks and a great playground for the kids to enjoy while the adults relax on the nearby grass. Overall, a great way to spend the day without having to worry about money. Make sure you're out of the grounds before the boom gates close,because without any lights for hundreds of metres, it can get a little bit spooky.

You can walk, ride a bike, fly a Kite, throw a frisbee, chase a friend around with a stick or just have a picnic. There is a kids play area with lots of fun equipment ..... BBQ facilities ..... and lots of bush walks to explore. You can enjoy the bush or get closer to the water and enjoy the lovely views across the bay. Joey had a great time, did not get lost ..... felt awkward walking past teenagers making out ..... and felt closer to nature ..... closer than I planned but still a fun few hours out.

To add to all the attraction is the flying fox. From an elevated wooden plank about 1.5 meters tall, kids sit on a disk attached to an overhead cable. They're never more than about one metre off the ground as they fly forward around 25 meters and rebound back. There is always a queue of kids for this. As the park is located adjacent to the airport - it's a joy to watch all the kids get excited about the planes taking off and scream with pleasure. There is a huge barbeque area and also a bike path. I really like going to this park - oh yes I forgot to mention the ice-cream man who adds to all the fun.
