Everyone needs suburbia green space to make them feel at home, ey?
One of the things I love most about Sydney is how green the city is. There are trees along the streets, even in downtown, and tons of tiny hideaway parks tucked into laneways. Just a quick downhill kilometre trot from my house brings Enmore Park, one of the largest parks in the greater Marrickville Area. While it may not be as avant-garde as Newtown's Camperdown Memorial, it's definitely a lovely setting to enjoy a book or, if you're feeling racy, a cider or two.
This plot definitely has a family orientation to it, which is partially due to The Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre being inside the park, as well as a really cute children's playground; one that I've reminisced in one too many times. It's located just off of the Marrickville Metro Centre so it's a perfect place for a post-shopping snack and easy to get to and from using the close bus stops. There isn't any exercise equipment in the park, but you'll find heaps of people working out throughout the day and into the evening.
On the weekends it surely picks up its pace and you'll find clicks of friends having some drinks, families having picnics, and heaps of exercise groups lunging in and out of it all.
While largely a conservative, family-friendly spot, Enmore Park is an attractive afternoon getaway destination; just be sure to check your bag on the way in. read more
