Monkey Mania - Another interesting find: A chip that wanted to go playing as well.

Great place for the kids to come and run around and expend some of their never ending energy…read more $12 entry on week days and $15 entry on weekends.. adults pay $4.50 but also receive a free coffee of drink.. It's got a two story play ground with lots and lots of room to run, jump and climb. The staff seem friendly and the place is well kept. It is 930am on a Friday currently and we are the only ones here so far. My kids are having a blast so it's well worth it!

I was hesitating whether to give it one or two stars, then decided on two, because while the…read moreproblems don't seem to disappear there are some benefits. Monkey Mania in Top Ryde doesn't seem too bad of a place at first sight: There are climbing structures, a soft ball shooting range, wobbly bridges, a tunnel, slides, even a jumping castle and an under-5s area. But the equipment is not well maintained, not updated and all of that also comes at a price (i.e. bad value). The toilets had some problems too, with broken doors and cockroaches coming in for some business. Somebody please check the kitchen! There's members pricing, which during school days is $10 and $13 on weekends and holidays, while adults pay $4.50 each and get a lousy coffee included. So, given you're there on a rainy weekend with your two you end up paying $35 if you committed to a year's membership, planning to return to make it worthwhile. If you just came to have a look as a non-member you'd be paying $12 on school days, $15 on weekend and holidays and $4.50 for each adult and still get the same lousy coffee. If you can't be bothered playing with your kids that's $26.50/child for a "Drop 'n' Shop": Drop your kids off, while you have a better latte somewhere else. And if you stay there and prefer to look at your phone then you better have enough data left, because there's no Wi-fi for adults. So what do you get there (apart from lousy coffee and the standard battered and fried fare)? There are structures on two levels, with the ground level mostly taken up by a soft ball target area, with those vacs (or blowers, whichever way you see it) that suck in the ball and move it to the air gun area. There's also a dark 'n' dingy ground area behind the slides that look forgotten or overlooked in planning. The upper ground has access to slides, the pneumatic gun shooters, bridges, a tunnel, a tunnel slide and a jumping castle. The latter one is probably the highlight. If a jumping castle (air trapped by polyethylene fabric to make the same bouncy) is the highlight then that's a poor outcome for a play centre. You can almost hire them for cheaper than the entrance price for members. There's also a mini race track for "sort of" dodgem cars, but the track is just a circle and most of the time 80% of the cars are broken, plus you have to pay extra for a 5 minute ride: $3. On top of all this, and this is probably my main gripe with Monkey Mania in Top Ryde, is the cleanliness. I understand that kids are not the super clean type and neither am I, but there's always food somewhere on the ground and layers upon layers of dust on the structures. How hard would it be to vac that out once every 6 months. The owners probably think that once these are setup there's no more maintenance necessary. Wrong! Lollipopland BTW is much better maintained, though while adults don't have to pay it's also costs a bit more for the kids. Mentioning maintenance: in all the time that we've been going there (yes, there's unfortunately not much else in the vicinity in terms of indoor play) the layout hasn't been updated. Other play centres add new gear or at least change the layout. The kids got bored quickly and it's time to venture further out.

Never have I been so appalled at the lack of organisation, helpfulness and sheer friendliness of a…read moreparty venue. I had my daughters 2nd birthday party at Ultimate today, and the rudeness started from the moment we entered the building. I arrived early (15 minutes) to set up (arranged previously and apparently not an issue).. But instead of being greeted with good morning, the staff member grunted, "we don't open until 10". I was eventually directed to our party area, which was clearly in a shambles from a party the previous day. I had to rearrange the tables and chairs and rip down all the banners and signs from the previous party. All my guests arrived and the party got underway. 1 hour 20mins after the party started I was still waiting on the water/cordial (included with party) to arrive. The kids were thirsty from running around, and getting my hands on water seemed like the most difficult task of the day thus far. After asking 3 times, I attended the cafe counter to chase it up, only to be rudely advised that I should ask my party host. I had a party host??? Nobody introduced themselves as my party host, nobody introduced themselves full stop. We were pointed in the direction of our party area and that was the end of the interaction with staff. I had also ordered adult platters for the party. I had a large amount of adults due to it being a toddler party, and kids requiring adult supervision. I only received the cheese platter, which I was absolutely gobsmacked at how small it was for $40! Certainly not what I envisioned. I had also ordered wraps, but no idea what the actual story was behind their failure to be delivered to my party, as I received 4 different stories (excuses) from 3 different staff members. 1. We are Making the wraps now and they'll be out shortly. 2. The cafe that delivers our wraps didn't turn up 3. We ran out of wraps 4. (This is the clincher) I've been on the coffee machine all day and didn't have time to make your wraps!!!!!! So I book in a party 3 months in advance, pay per head and pay for adult platters as I'm STRICLY NOT ALLOWED to bring food into the venue, and your staff member/s were too busy making coffee (coffee?) to provide the pre-ordered food to my party!!!??? Absolutely atrocious!! Furthermore, no one bothered to advise me that the wraps weren't coming, we had to chase them up 20 minutes before the party was over as we wanted to cut the cake and have everyone fed beforehand. I didn't receive an apology, not a smile, nothing. Just a too bad and here's your platter refund. And just to top off an already fabulous day, a staff member came to shoo us out of the party area (fair enough as it was past 12pm), but instead of a nice, "hey guys, just letting you know your party is over could you please vacate the area," I was told we needed to get out as another party was starting in 10 minutes. Well let me tell you, when I finally drove off from the venue over an hour later, there was no party happening in that room. A little bit of plain old honesty would have done the trick. Unfortunately I had to apologise to my guests for the lack of food and organisation. It reflected really poorly on me when the kids were all asking for water and no amount of asking your staff, could get drinking water for toddlers. I understand there can be hiccups, But today was simply a joke. I spent the whole party completely stressed out, which is ironic considering I chose to have the party at ultimate so it would be easy and stress-free. The kids had a great time playing (of course) but that's where the fun ended. Renee
