I didn't see any Macallans. Maybe that type of drink is hard to find? I feel almost all their products are reasonably priced compared to groceries stores and even Total Wine and Spirits. I want to care for this location simply because it's conveniently located, but they have repeatedly proven they're not worth my love. The customer service sucks. The people working here continuously cause me to feel as if they do not want me there, and their social skills are undeniably disappointing. Come on people, you sell alcohol for freaking sakes. Their "policy" is iffy, and nothing short of questionable for online orders. On the bright side, the store is immaculate. Parking is never an issue, and they stay stocked with everything from A to Z. That's probably where it ends as far as compliments go. After my last visit, I highly doubt a foreseeable future in returning. Poor customer service. Let me help paint the picture for you. I'm a middle-aged African-American male (Why is that important you ask? It will make sense as you continue to read). I entered BevMo! to make a purchase, which I did. As I approached the cash register, the young Latina cashier (whose name according to my receipt was "Ray") did not greet me at all. The only words she uttered were "Do you want your receipt". I thought to myself, this is very poor customer service. Well, maybe she's had a long night, I thought. However, when the lovely white couple behind me approached the register, "Ray" perked up greeting them with a warm "Hello". I couldn't help but feel a level of racial micro-aggression from this cashier, as she clearly didn't think I deserved even a simple greeting for spending my money in this establishment. Now, I understand that a warm greeting from a cashier is not always going to happen. However, when the cashier is being selective with who they decide to greet and who they do not, it can become a stain on the entire establishment. After dealing with the Costco afternoon crowd, I felt defeated but came in to look for a bottle of moscato for a gift since Costco only had one cheap option. I've been here a few times before but mainly for gifts since we don't really drink much. Upon walking in I was greeted with a friendly hello from the security guard and right as I found the moscato section, Riley (I believe that was his name) popped up and asked if i needed help. He was very friendly and was quick to offer a suggestion. He explained about their 5 cent sale and I was sold. Cashier was quick and friendly as well, very good service from this store as always. I had never gone to a BevMo location and afterwards have been like "I'm going to post a review" until yesterday. My boyfriend's friend was having a BBQ nearby and we wanted to stock up with some drinks and snacks. Immediately we were greeted by the cashier (wish I would've caught his name) but not in the typical type of "hello" way. Instead, he greeted us by telling us to put a smile on our face because we weren't stuck on the 405 and immediately made us laugh and made our experience there a great one. I was looking for some Angry Orchards but realized that it was take a while to get them cold, so I went straight to the refrigerated area and luckily they had them there. Also, there was an interesting assortment of snacks for us to choose from. We grabbed some Cape Cod Sea Salt Waffle Chips that were surprisingly good, as well as some delicious chocolate covered pretzels. Lastly, when we went up to pay the cashier once again was very personable and inviting and made us all laugh. Our trip to BevMo was definitely memorable and we would definitely go back to this location! read more

I heard about a bourbon I wanted to try, so I went online to see if my Studio City BevMo had it in stock. They didn't, but the Van Nuys store showed that it was available, so I drove over there. After trying to locate it in the aisle, I went up to the cashier (who wasn't helping anyone at the time) and asked where I could find it. I was told they'd never heard of it. I had to ask if there was someone else who could help me - that alone is irritating - it should've been offered. Someone came running by (obviously helping someone else) and told me I would be helped when they were free. I waited and wandered around for a while. Finally they came up to me and I asked my question. They immediately said it was out of stock. When I said the site said it was available, I was told the site only updates every 24 hours. So I was already annoyed by this. Then I asked for another item and they weren't familiar with it. I finally found that on my own. I asked someone else if they carried long lighters and was just told if they did, it would be at the back of the store. I never found the lighter. I purchased the other item I'd found and the price seemed higher than I'd seen online. When I got home I checked online and in fact the price shown on the site was about $5 lower. I called the store and the manager said that if I brought in a printout showing the lower price for their store, he'd refund the difference. He said some stores might be lower... Here's what you need to know: 1. They don't understand about customer service - what it is or how to give it. 2. Do not trust the website for accurate information. 3. The price for the exact same item can vary from store to store. 4. They don't know their own merchandise. I will not return there. They didn't do one thing to earn my business. The only positive thing I can say is that the young woman at the cash register was very friendly - but she does need to be trained how to give good service. read more

Let's face it...if you've been to one Bevmo, you've pretty much seen them all. Each store is a copy of itself and offers up a variety of liver killers to get your friends, family and love interests drunk with. BUT this Bevmo is special. Why you may ask? Because of its location. It is right down the street from Costco.................sooooooooooooo, if you are having a party, simply hit the Costco and load up on grub, then head south on Sepulveda and stop in here and do the rest of your alcoholic shopping. And yeah, you can buy booze at Costco, but generally speaking, there are better deals to be found here on wines and some spirits, especially during the 5 cent sales. Just sayin. read more

This BevMo location is not the best in the valley, but it gets the job done. It had a cool tasting area with special tasting events. The selection is not as big, as the one on Ventura in Encino, but for your common favorites and quick stops, it's not bad. The staff is nice and has answered any questions I had in the past. The wine is located on the left, liquor on the right, and beer in the back right. Parking is easy to find in the small lot, but Sepulveda does see a lot of traffic so entering and exiting the lot might be an issue. You can also join Club Bevmo for free with your phone numbrr, they give you cool discounts and send you coupons for large purchases. I even remember getting a birthday coupon!!! Overall, great place and if you can't find what you want here...cost plus is just down the street as well! read more

I looked high and low for Dogfish Head's Bitches brew and came up short till this Bevmo helped me out, oh yeah. They helped me out good. Now I'm going to be getting crunk while listening to Miles Davis' album on the same titled craft beer. Awesome customer service. Helpful and the selection.. well, it's your standard Bevmo, but considering they had something that seemed impossible to find all over L.A., I'll rank them up there. Good stuff. Not sure what else you really need to know about this place. It's damn bright and I don't think it's due to the alcoholic bottles made out of glass. One of my fave spots to shop for the most up to date wines, yes they don't have the "hidden treasures" like my other spots do, but if I'm looking for a decent bottle or two, or three, then I have no problem going here. Helpful employees (the women more than the men) and they have a decent array of cigars on the cheap, and sometimes on sale :D They have a new program there where they have certain varietals on an extra discount... not sure how they are, but it's good to see that they're still trying to make a difference for the little wineries. Enjoy a bottle of the Otima 10 year Tawny or my fave Cab, Bogle '06. Or they have a great desert wine too, EOS Tears of Dew. Try it. You'll like it ;) read more

Helpful is the key word at this BevMo location. I had to pick up some kosher wine for passover and had no idea what to get. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by one of the employees. I told him i needed Kosher wine and he told me that he was just setting up the display for all the Kosher stuff. He asked me what I needed and I said I had no clue. So while I called my folks to see what they wanted, he patiently waited and ran down the list of all the wines they had while I relayed the information back to my folks. After settling on a few different bottles I told him that I had forgot my coupon at home ($15 off $100). He said no sweat, that we could fax or email it to the store and they would honor it. Talk about friendly service. Not once did this employee sigh or express any grief with me for taking up his time. On the contrary, he was cool and wanted to make sure that there was nothing else he could do to help. I really appreciated all his effort and would recommend this BevMo location to anyone. read more

It's amazing how much this recession has dramatically improved my ability to be an opportunistic shopper that allows me to save while I spend, if that makes any sense. Yesterday I wandered into BevMo to check out their "buy one bottle of wine, get the second for five cents" offer and scored a nice bottle of Chardonnay and got the second for just $0.05! That's no typo..you read it right..five cents! Not all of the wine's apply, but many of them in all price ranges are. This location is much more convenient than the Burbank location at the Empire Center. I was able to park right in front of the store in Van Nuys; a huge contrast to the adventure that the Burbank location is to navigate/park. Perfect place to pick up a holiday gift that everyone on your list will love. After all, getting boozed up transcends all personality types! They also recently started to sell the good ol' stand by present: gift cards! So recently, in fact, that the SKU# wasn't even in their system yet when I tried to buy one! I grabbed another type and thankfully that one worked. The staff was very apologetic and helpful in trying to get my original pick to work, and I am all about service so that made me happy to spend my dollars there. As I was walking out, I noticed a guy at a different check stand trying to purchase liquor by presenting his fathers drivers license. "I ALWAYS buy here like this!" He even got on his cell to call his Pops to "verify" that he sent little Johnny to get him more booze. "I don't care if you call him, it ain't gonna happen" said the checker. So I walked out of Bevmo with 4 bottles of wine, a raspberry ale and a phone number on a business card. No, it wasn't that kind of party...I actually bonded with the cashier way before I even saw him. I heard him belt out "Dancing In The Dark" in a broadway bravado that made me smile as I was filling out my preferred customer application. As he happily rang up my bottles of booze, he gasped at the sight of my ID. Yes, I was used to it. My god awful IL driver's license picture that made babies scream and roaches scurry. No, he was amazed at the fact that he found a gal from Chicago! Cause he too was from Chicago, and he too graduated from Columbia, and he too moved out to LA to work on film. But we differ in the fact that he was working at BevMo and I had just finished editing a wedding video. We bonded for a bit, exchanged info and swore to meet again. BTW: BevMo as an establishment fucking rocks. I was amazed at the selection of just wine alone, and didn't get a chance to puruse the other sections just yet. But they did have a lack in Midwestern Beers. Oh well, at least they had cheese. read more

I really like alcohol, in most of its forms, so how can I not like a place that specializes in just that? But being a BevMo isn't what got this particular location its 5 stars. Its the selections they have, the friendly people who work there, their location right off the 101, the parking, and the general ease of buy all drinks here. The location is very close to the 405, and this used to be the closest location to my house. Now that i moved out of the valley, I still come here on my way home from work instead of traipsing into West Hollywood and dealing with the awful parking there. If I ever have a question, there is always someone to ask, and when you go to check out, they always tell me about the drinks I'm buying, and are always very enthusiastic. They have a wide selection of wine and beer, and I'm always grateful for their fridged beer selection that allows me to have my craft beer right when I get home, instead of trying to cool it down after its been purchased. All in all I love this place and come here a lot, and who doesn't love being a card carrying BevMo customer? read more

The employees are always happy and I always feel good vibes in this store. Hopefully you're lucky enough to meet Warren, an employee there. I've taken a fancy to American Patriot beer. It's a full-bodied American-made lager. A perfect match for the 4th of July. I called in advance and they had some in stock. On sale for $3.99 a six pack. Bonus! I'm searching the isles and don't see said beer. I'm a man. I don't ask for help, but I got to get to work so I ask the dude in the cornered off area the managers sit at. "I called in for the American Patriot beer" "Yeah, the beer's in the back" Thanks Magellan for the coordinates to 1/4 of your store. "Yeah, I looked but didn't see any" "Leeme get someone to help you" Scored two cases of American Patriot and a case of Firestone 805 Blonde Ale for good measure. Cashier asks for my ID. Really Broheim? I'm six months from being 50. I must have looked like the most run down twenty year old he'd ever seen. Actually, I got a big kick out of getting carded. Like old times. After promising that they would price match, due to the fact that they are way more expensive here, they then weaseled out of that promise forcing me to drive to Northridge. There I found not only better prices, but the staff were super knowledgeable and didn't make the simple transaction awkward, like BevMo did. This bevmo usually has everything i need when i need it. It's ideally located to where i live - have a great wine selection but what is really great is the beer selections. Microbrews from around the world as well as one of the best selection of imported brews from around the world. Prices can be a bit high if you are going with a standard coors light or budweiser but whereelse can you pick up Blue Tounge, the newest New Belgium brew and Lowenbrau at the same time. They also have a full selection of kegs available. They require a 3 day notice on most kegs but i've called them up with a few hours notice and gotten a keg of bud light before - they actually had a pretty good selection of "on hand" kegs. If you are throwing a party stop here for your liquor needs but don't get suckered into the party supplies - they are very overpriced. Stop by the CVS on the corner or Ralphs down the street. Wandering around the store and not a single green shirt comes over to ask if I need assistance. Then, at 4:50, I stumble into the Saturday tastings, which goes on from 2-5pm. I stand around from 15 minutes, until I excuse myself for some attention, when Theresa (a green shirt) tells me that they ended tasting 5-mins ago. (Really, lady?! I've been standing here for 15.) I excuse myself again and ask if she can direct me to a particular type of beer and she says, "I'm not really good with beer. I'm better with wine." Mind you, she's serving beer and wine. She mumbles someone's name "is better with beer." However, she doesn't try to get a hold of the guy she just mentioned, she just turns and continues to serve wine to the two girls she's been chit-chatting with for the whole duration I'm there. (Thanks for nothing, lady!) I leave the tasting area because it's clear that I'm unwanted there and try to flag down another green shirt passing by. Ignored once again. Then, I see my third green shirt and I yell "excuse me" twice before I get a turn back. I ask her if she can direct me to the particular type of beer. She shows me a six pack that I already have in my basket (Great observations skills there!) and a seasonal, which she sells as "20% off for 3." I ask how it compares to a popular beer. To which, she ignores the question, then when I repeat myself, she clearly dodges it. (Umm, if you don't know how to answer my question be respectful and resourceful, tell me that you don't know and find someone that does, please.) I felt like the people I interacted with "just worked there." The knowledge base is just what you see on the index cards on the shelves. It's sad. The beer, wine, and liquor options are OK in a pinch. World Market and Total Wine have better selections, if you have the choice. *Drops mic.* read more

Great Selection. So so prices. I purchased a big bottle of Kettle One Vodka for the Holidays. it cost about $29.00. Checking prices at the local market - the smaller bottles were around $24.00 so I think I got a great deal. As for wine and champagnes, I still think World Market offers the best deals. Can of Sales Mixed nuts ran me about $7 .50 which is a little higher then the market but not bad when you add in the convenience factor. All in all - great variety of all areas. Great place to gift shop and sneak into when you are looking to pass some time. read more
