Staff was helpful and they had a good selection of NA beers and spirits. But I was expecting more competitive prices. For example, Topo Chico is the same price as Whole Foods. I bought about as much as I could carry. But then I asked for them to take me down the elevator to my car. I explained that I was in pain and was awaiting knee surgery, and I thought this was a reasonable request. They denied my request and said I had to hoof it down the same flights of stairs that I used to climb up to the store, while carrying all the wares I just bought. I said they weren't busy, they seemed to have lots of staff, and I would wait. They wouldn't oblige. I stated this was a reasonable accommodation. They said that it wasn't. I'll consult the Mayor's Office of Disability (MOD) tomorrow and seek guidance. read more

Local delivery is just really bad using DoorDash. Bevmo charges a premium for its local delivery service, but fails to warn buyers that they just outsourced this to DoorDash. In turn DoorDash isn't using professional delivery but just random people who are likely also delivery take out food orders. I ordered 2 cases of champagne and the DoorDash delivery driver was too old / weak to carry the cases, didn't have any equipment to wheel the cases of champagne and had to have us help her get them out of the car. To add insult to injury Bevmo doesn't even package the bottles well. They just threw 24 bottles in two random boxes so we were lucky none of them broke. After writing in complaints I basically got nowhere and was told they valued my feedback. No thanks Bevmo. I'll just keep ordering from K&L Wines, who actually know what they are doing. read more

Had a great experience at BevMo on Geary! They made concerted effort to ensure that everyone sanitized before entering their location ( a practice I haven't seen much throughout COVID). After browsing around a bit, I found what I was looking for and got great customer service from Micheal. He was funny and charming and his energy and thoughtfulness when packing my bags did not go unnoticed nor unappreciated. And his WuTang Clan mask was also on point. Shoutout to Rick and Lhiz to being UNBELIEVABLY terrible at customer service. Over the course of a few weeks, I was repeatedly shocked by how rude and unhelpful nearly every employee was. It started when I called to ask which keg size to buy for an event with 30 people and was told by Lhiz that she didn't know. She said to just do the math ourselves. We asked how many serving are in a keg and she just snapped to buy two kegs. We went to the website ordered but didn't receive any confirmation so we called a few days later to ensure everything was set. I have been here several times since this store opened years ago and had positive experiences, but today, the customer service was appalling. From half way down an aisle, I ask for assistance from a sales associate at the entrance to the aisle who ignored my request for help. He then spoke to a colleague in an ear piece for a minute not so and I waited patiently in front of him. He then walked away and when I kindly beaconed him for assistance with a "Pardon me." The last time I went to BevMo, I really didn't think much about it - I thought it was fine. In recent years, I've really learned to really appreciate wine and when I was recently at this location, I was surprised by the sheer variety of wines as well as the quality of some of them. I was looking for a particular chardonnay, Rombauer, 2007, which never seems to be anywhere, yet they had it ready and available at the store - it was great! I also noticed they had a ton of other wines that are very good. Besides wine, they have a great selection of other beverages: soda, liquor, mixers, beer (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and it really is a great one-stop-shopping spot for all kinds of drinks. read more

No Mo Bevmo. This store is right on my corner. Despite horrible experiences in the past -- poor selection, dingy, chaos, untrained and indifferent staff - I gave them one last chance today. I thought I could avoid going to Laurel Village for the forgotten apple juice or cider for brining. Nada. Not only did they not have any (it's a beverage, no?) - the one staffer whose attention I could get (not that he looked busy), waved in the area of the non-liquor beverages and said "if we have any, it would be there." I like the concept of BevMo. I also like the selection of BevMo. What I don't like is the inflated prices of BevMo. Most Spirits here are marked up substantially over supermarkets. Also the staff is really hit and miss here. I would train your cashiers to focus on serving the customer and not chit-chatting with other employees why wait at checkout. Their products are laid out in a way that is easy to shop and to understand. Pricing is great and I can always find something fun / interesting to try. I usually come for beer and I have found some interesting new brands that I had never seen before and I almost always come away with something interesting or cool for $8 or less. Oh BevMo!, why are you not everywhere. This place is like Target for alcohol. Huge selection, great prices, several convenient locations... I particularly like this Geary location as they have tons of underground parking. I stopped by this place to pick up some "Christmas cheer" for the holidays. They not only had the liquor I was looking for, it was reasonably priced and and marked off an extra $5 off per bottle if you join the (free) BevMo club. Score! She just need to treat everyone with respect . Not that hard . All the other bev mo in San Fran that I go to pick up have separate counter to pick up . We don't have to be in line to pick up . Plus if we do have to be in line , she can just tell us nicely not shout and scream " YOU HAVE TO WAIT IN LIKE OTHER , GO BACKKKKKKKK IN THE LINE " like a mad dog , and make a scene that all the customers look at her . Embarrassing. If I am being respectful / polite and ask about pick up order , she doesn't have to act rude and scream ( every time ) . It's not the 1st encounter I have with her . Can't go wrong with BevMo. I prefer the Van Ness location (with it being more spacious, a larger selection, and less complicated garage), but the Geary location doesn't disappoint when you need cheap and/or more than your average corner store selection of booze. The beer selection is a few aisles worth, along with a cooler in the back. If you're not looking for anything too unusual, you're sure to find it here. The liquor area follows it and seems to have all your basics, etc. The wine selection takes up the majority of the store, so you're really in luck if that's your poison of choice. It's not usually too busy in here, unless you're close to a holiday, in which case prepared to wait in some long lines. Fortunately, the staff are all nice and get you in and out as quickly as possible. read more

I travelled over 300 miles over the weekend and purchased few beverages at Bevmo store as a gift for a friend of mine that I ended up not meeting during that weekend. So, I decided to return beverages back and came to this location on Geary. To my surprise these items weren't returnable. Manager Tiffany failed to accept the return even though everything was in sealed and originally packaged condition as brand new. She rudely offered me to return them to the location where I bought them instead - the Bevmo store that is over 300 miles away.. Very poor experience. Bummer! read more

Times are hard and new, but that's no excuse for terrible customer service. I ordered a few bottles of wine online for pick up, the order was confirmed via email with no indication of any problem. I called the store an hour later to get an idea of when it might be ready, just ballpark, since I'm new to the system. I was "helped" by someone who scoffed at the idea of any sort of assurance the order would be ready in another hour, three hours, or even today. And then the employee has the audacity to say she already told me there can be no estimate. I asked her to at least tell me the order will be filled and said she cannot because she doesn't know my order or anything. All in a very unfriendly tone. My bad for trying a large chain. read more

Great place to go if you want to be profiled and followed around. The security guard silently followed me from aisle to aisle, standing just at the end of each aisle staring at me the entire time until I just decided to leave instead of purchasing what I went there for. Attempted yesterday to buy some wine, but why does it have to be so difficult and unfriendly. Having your delivery truck block the entrance to the onsite parking, hmm I guess I will pull up front and pay for parking at the metered parking spaces on Geary. Upon entering the sales clerk is so engrossed in her cell phone not even a look or hello. Upon checking out this same sales clerk is texting on her phone as she is ringing out my transaction and doesn't say two words to me. The kicker is that as I get to my car parked on Geary, the same Gallo delivery truck that had been blocking the onsite parking is now pulled up in front and is blocking my car in. Now I don't do this at all but this so call "store manager" was very rude. I came in wanting to return a bottle of liqueur because I made a mistake of the pricing of it. Long story short the store manager or supervisor try to handle the issue but made it worse by questioning me on why am I returning the bottle. Saying "why are you returning it if you didn't even open it", and I told him I was dissatisfied with the price and he responds was "how can you not like it if you haven't tried it". I grew up in a dry town. Pity my teenage years. Consequently, the border of my town was dotted with liquor stores. Most of them were small, had names like hobos, and carded heavily. However, there was one glorious warehouse of a liquor store that carried anything you could want, from the obscure to the common. This is where my friends would pay hobos to buy booze for us (with a little something for the hobo.) BevMo takes me back to this time, minus the hobo. It brings back some of the wonderment in seeing so many different kinds of beer, wine and liquor. And it's right on the edge of my neighborhood. It's the most excitement and anticipation I've had to drinking since I was a teenager. Only downside is, much like my teenage years, things don't always work out exactly how I want them to. Flagging down the nearest associate, I asked for recommendations for Zinfandel for a friend's birthday present. I very much appreciated that her honesty in admitting she wasn't a big fan of Zins -- too spicy, she said -- and so declined to give me a recommendation. Instead, she found her co-worker who was an expert in Zins. So, one staff provided great service through her honesty, and the other staff provided good service with her quick and friendly recommndations. Five minutes and two bottles later and with the birthday gifts stored in a lovely metallic bag, I was on my way . . . and only a little late for the party. What a refreshing and quick way to shop! I'm getting married today. And I'm writing a Yelp review. Sure, I'm a little jittery. But that just may be the coffee talking. "So what's this gotta do with BevMo?" you might ask. $1600 for wine, bubbly, and beer: 30 bottles of Sixth Sense Syrah. 30 bottles of Pacific Rim off-dry riesling (5-cent sale, baby!) 36 bottles of Banfi Rosa Regale. 3 cases each of Windamir Hefeweizen, Guinness, Anchor Steam, and Modelo Especial. The manager that helped us out was friendly, professional and had our order shipped on time for free. 5% off with my club card was added bonus. As is their flexible return policy. Unused cases and bottles with labels intact can be returned, just in case your friends and family aren't thirsty. Hopefully, they are. I want everyone to have a blast. And now, this neighborhood BevMo, a go-to spot for stocking reckless college parties, hard-to-find brews, and the occasional bottle of wine for that special occasion, is going to be one small part of one of the biggest occasions in my life. BevMo...I used to love you. You were once like an alcoholic Disneyland to someone fresh out out of college and of drinking age. You always have consistently good prices for vodka and a decent, though prosaically mainstream selection of wines. Sadly, I've grown older and wiser. Case in point, it's your wine pricing that I especially take issue with. Many of your lower end wines have an everyday low price which is two to five dollars more than what you can get the same wine for at Safeway. Coming from such a large chain whose primary focus is on alcohol, that's inexcusable. This may come as a shock to some, but I think your 5 cent wine sale is a joke. I can't believe how many people fall for that gimmick. If you peruse the limited selection of 5 cent wines and do your homework, you will find that these wines are often priced at double the sale price you will find at other venues. I'm not kidding. Giving me a second bottle for only 5 cents after charging me double for the first one does not constitute value in my book. Those that are not double are often unpalatable or are prime candidates for cooking or perhaps homemade wine vinegar. In addition, some of the worst wines I've had over the years have been from Bevmo and were 5 cent specials. No other place in recent memory have I bought a wine and found it so unpalatable that I poured it down the sink after taking a sip. Years ago, I got some real clunkers from Trader Joe's and Cost Plus which resulted in the same, but since then, they have really up'd their game so it never happens anymore, except when I go to Bevmo. I want to love this place and will continue to support it for their good vodka pricing (although Costco is better if you can stand the lines), but it is a true disappointment to me when it comes to their wines. Price shop and you will see exactly what I mean. Per above, I do like your vodka pricing and I believe I saw a wine from Morgan winery on your shelves the other day, so I'll bump it up a star. read more

I wrote a letter to BevMo a while back. Here's a short excerpt: Yesterday afternoon, I unsuccessfuly attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages from one of your San Francisco locations. The reason your employees gave me for this thirst denying failure was that my VALID Hawaii State driver's license was not an acceptable form of identification. Now I've shown that ID to bartenders, bouncers, cops, potential girlfriends, whathaveyou and "that's not a flattering photo" comments aside, not a single person has ever found anything unacceptable about it. Yes, I know that San Francisco is in California and not Hawaii, but let me finish. My mother once told me about this really interesting thing where people from other places visit other states and purchase products and services from the locals there. She called it "tourism." Well it looks like they are consistent. Their customer service sucked before the pandemic and it sucks now. They have two lines. One for online orders and one for phone orders. Since the store is closed to customers you would think that they would have two people out front to handle both lines but no it's just one and he focused primarily on the online orders. Be prepared for a wait if you are unfortunate enough to have called in your order. The one blond cashier is the worst. I don't think they have a word for customer service in her language! She is the worst. Reminds you to pull your mask up but she doesn't have one. Has attitude or maybe that's how she always is! To the best of my ability I will never go to that Bev mo again read more
