I'm no beer drinker, but I enjoy going to BevMo for other drinks. I've gotten many different hand-crafted sodas and sodas such as Frostie, Cheerwine, Dr. Brown's, and Fitz's sodas which are hard to find elsewhere. I've also found glass bottles of Coca-Cola with the old-style logos. And when I'm in a hurry and want to some COke 12-packs, I can get them here. read more

I'm unsure what the 1-star reviews are for-unless they had different employees months ago-but even though I've only been to this store a few times recently, the service has been top-notch & especially this last time with trying to find a recently discontinued mixer. The employees who helped went all out and pulled all their tricks to find this flavor! After a failed company site search, Mary Jane located it at the store in Carmel & promptly brought it the next morning. I can't remember the last time I shook a worker's hand in such fashion, but she-THEY-have all my "lost booze" gratitude!! Only been here a couple of times. I was searching for a particular type of beer. I had it in a restaurant but could not remember the name or type but I did remember what I liked about it. I told one of the BevMo employees that I was looking for a beer that was less bitter and less carbonated. He steered me towards some IPAs (India Pale Ales). I guess these are the rage now so the employee just pointed me in that direction. I bought a couple of bottles and was looking forward to drinking them. Guess what? IPAs are known for their hopiness (bitterness) and high carbonation. Exactly opposite of what I wanted. Isn't that special? So I spent about $13 on two bottles of beer (I didn't want to experiment with a six pack and they don't sell smaller single bottles especially for independent beer manufacturers). You better know what you want before you go in. read more

Worst bevmo ever! Took a while looking for anything that wasn't uber typical so the staff decided to have their overly obvious loss prevention goon watch us while pretending to shop. Nice job by the way guy I'm sure you catch tons of people trying to steal a $5 beer smh. Then upon asking if they carried a certain beer they all had the knowledge of a lobotomy victim. Then the i guess you could call him a manager assumption gathered from his snazzy red button up shirt came over looking like depression in human form half ass acted like he was trying to help us but whole heartedly acted like we bothered him to do his job. I went into the store to get some sodas, that was it! And I was kicked out because I was not 21. Why have sodas in your store if minors cannot buy them? I was really disappointed. I get it if I was a minor trying to buy alcohol, but I just wanted some fancy sodas. Plus the woman was really rude about the whole transaction. Bevmo you lost a paying customer today, please make a way for minors to buy your sodas, because you are one of the few places I can get my favorite soda. read more

I went back in recently and was pleasantly surprised that things have gotten better. Must be under new management. Anyway, I came in the store and was immediately asked what I needed help with by a chipper blonde cashier who then showed me which vodkas she likes and steered me to one I had never heard of called Gvori said it was very smooth perfect for sipping and in my price range but unknown in comparison to other brand names. I took it home to try on the rocks and I must say I'll be back for the handle. No more smirnoff for me! Its up there with the goose and titos definitely am a happy camper to have found this! read more

This place is go-to for me. The hubby is an IPA drinker and the guys here are always willing to help me pick new stuff out for him. We learn something new from Adrian, who has a brain full of beer and wine knowledge, every time we go in. Today he explained how Mexican beer is brewed. Apparently there are wine tastings from 2-5 on Saturdays for a nickel and we will try one out sometime. Highly recommend this place! read more

Called last minute the night before NYE to see if they had any kegs available. David? I believe his name was, was extremely helpful over the phone. Then I came in the next day and had no problem picking it up. The other gentlemen was extremely nice and loaded it in the back of my truck with no problem. Terrible experiences here every single time I go. They at least carry a decent wine selection and a good selection of beers but their management team is terrible and their customer service skills are awful. I will say, I have had some employees here help me with some wine suggestions and they have been very friendly and helpful. Multiple times I have been in and have been accused that I was using a fake id or would be paying the parent I went in with for alcohol once I left the store and that they assumed I would be buying illegally despite my being 24 years old. Tonight was an exceptionally terrible visit, and will be my last. I care for a minor that came with me into the store while I grabbed one item, and went to purchase and the employee who identified himself as the manager began to give me issues I said he couldn't ask my minor child for id (not to mention she is a child, and not many children carry photo id's, her included). He proceeded (as I was pulling out my id) to tell me he was refusing my sale so we left. Came back in with my parent who he proceeded to instantly tell I "gave lip and attitude to" which is completely untrue and also highly unprofessional. He proceeded to tell my father and I repeatedly that he was not "stopping to our level" and refused to listen and answer our questions about their policy about id'ing minors and why he did not id the other minors with parents in the store and told us "I made the assumption the teens were all going to consume the alcohol." Very upsetting and absolutely unacceptable how I was treated considering he acted on an assumption and then proceeded to lie about what happened. I did not make a scene and simply left when he refused the sale as there was no point to argue with someone who clearly was not intelligent enough to even be capable of thinking and acting according to policy (because I am pretty sure the company policy does not state it is ok to make assumptions and id based on profiling). The asm then decided to chime in when he never was involved to begi with and proceed to agree with the other employee's assumptions i was a) purchasing for a minor an b) i was under 21, when i had a valid id. All in all, I will never be returning to there ever again. This has happened several times when I have tried purchasing when a parent was present and I was simply shopping with them and have never touched the alcohol. Pretty sure their bogus policy of "California law staying if you touch alcohol you need to be 21, is not true as the two employees refused to furnish a policy of their rules and said they "don't have it, everyone just knows it, it is California law." All in all, never shopping at this location ever again. I do not appreciate being treated like some teen who is out to just get into trouble, being told I have attitude when I acted professional and simply left when they said they refused my sale, and was told in a very rude manner on the way out, to just "go to the liquor store around the corner." I have worked retail for over five years and have a degree and know this is absolutely unacceptable in other workplaces and that if there is an incident, a policy can be furnished for any customer to review at any time detailing why their policy is such. Highly unprofessional and child like behavior makes me all the more willing to shop elsewhere where my minor age child in my care will not be harassed for an id nor will I tolerate someone assuming I am a teen when I have perfectly valid id like everyone else. read more

Apparently, you are allowed to be dissatisfied with anything but price if you want to return anything here. Note to you... Shop around before going here. I went to Nob Hill and got the same exact bottles of champagne, plus two more for $40 less! When I went to return, I was told "we'll, I'll do it for you this time, but price doesn't fall under our return policy for dissatisfaction". I will say that the clerk did refund my money, which will take two-three days, even though I had purchased only an hour earlier, and he ended up apologizing for the high price. Still, they need to re-evaluate their prices, and return policy. Oh yeah, they also told me that the return policy is because of the government, and that I should yelp the government and not them. Ummm, BevMo chooses their business practices and styles. Don't blame the government when your corporation specifically chose their entity type. read more
