Great selection of alcohol for sure. Prices are a little bit pricier for some items than at other stores. We mainly go there for Hibiki and other specialty drinks we can't get elsewhere. Sometimes costco will have it on sale, but it's rare. Staff can be rude at times, kinda like you're inconveniencing them for doing their job. One time we went when they first opened to grab some Kirin. I wasn't sure what line to get into since none were open. I asked the group of workers that were standing together talking at the cash register if they were open. So just a little background...I have been to my fair share of Bevmo's around California both northern and southern. I am surprised it took so long for us to get one and I know I read an article that stated we were the largest city in California without one. The Bakersfield location is smaller than most but it's selection is still pretty good. I am not a huge drinker but they do seem to carry a good selection of beer, wine, and spirits and almost always have what we are looking for. We, however, are a big fan of the craft soda selection which is constantly lacking at this location. I do understand that it may take awhile for them to figure out the clientele and ordering. It seems that it is either completely full one day and bare bones the next. We are always on the hunt for Leninade! I really am surprised how early they close. Being a liquor store I would like to think that they would get enough business past 9pm to make it worth it, at least on the weekends. I have frequented this location several times now and the staff is very nice and helpful. I wish I caught his name but there is a gentleman that has short dark hair with glasses and is always out on the floor stocking and helping people that has helped me a few times now. WOWIE! This place is amazing! The store is large but not as massive as I thought it would be thankfully, as I once heard someone reference it to be the Costco of liquors! I found so many cool items here from refrigerated cheese, fancy crackers, nuts, high end chocolate bars, candy... anything you would want to bring to a party. Found Sangria in a box imported from Spain. So many neat cooler flavors. Wine, beer, spirits galore! I found more varieties of my beloved Smirnoff than I have ever seen! Cherries soaking in bourbon. Bitters in every flavor you can think of! Mixes for every liquor! They even had our favorite hard to find rum from Venezuela! (Santa Teresa!) We spent way too much cash here but we found the prices to be very reasonable. Get a member's card and save even more at the cash! Even if you do not need anything right now, come and take a look. Staff will make you feel very welcome and will likely ask if you are finding everything ok. Check out was super friendly as well. Michael not only walked me over to the location of the beverages but was very knowledgeable of the different types. This will be quick. Their selection was surprisingly good. I'm docking a star because of the couple in the store that refused to put their masks on properly and kept pulling them down and away from their faces while not maintaining social distancing. Bevmo in Bakersfield is a great place in that they deliver. But they are sorely lacking in the quality of the delivery when ordering online. Much of their inventory is marked "Out of Stock." But the most aggravating thing is when the website says everything is hunky dory and your order has been accepted, and then after paying for it you get a message saying a bunch of your stuff is "not available." Rarely they'll send you a text to that effect, giving you the option of cancelling the order and trying again some other day, but usually not. You simply find out the hard way. And speaking of the website, I find it almost impossible to navigate. Slow to load, dances around, jumps from screen to screen, etc. And, as I said, it does not reflect the reality of what's available in the store and what is not. So when ordering online, you simply take your chances and usually don't get everything (or sometimes anything) you ordered. BevMo, please get into the 21st Century with your website! Very disappointing today . I called to reserve a 15 gallon, half barrel keg of Bud Light. Pretty simple right? Evidently not because when I drove all the way down there they didn't have anything in the store for the size that I requested. Then they tried to sell me other sizes / brands... that's not what I asked for and when they told me they had the product there I figured you've got it there... Finally! This Bevo is pretty small compared to others, the location is great for the area, but is far if you dont live in the area. Grand opening was pretty busy, just purchased the moon shine cherries, and ran lol I will not go back until it slows down. They had the wine tasting in the back, free enrollment cards for disounts on items, and a pretty wide selection for the alcoholics. My negative they hiked a lot of the prices up on certain drinks $2-3 more which is why I left with one item, there were quite a few items I saw cheaper at other Bev's which is why I'll wait until I'm in the area of those locations. I received an email as I regularly do being in ClubBev member enticingly me to do business with them. So I know with all the COVID-19 stuff going on it's strictly curbside pick up. I thought I would check it out to see how it went. I was excited to see the store in my area had 1 bottle left of a bourbon I was interested in buying. So I added to my cart along with another bottle of one I like and set up a time to pick it up. When I got there the bottle that I was excited to get was not in my order. I was told it "wasn't available, sorry" and "oh..and we didn't charge you for it". Needless to say I was disappointed with the online/pick up experience. So when I got home I went back online and the bottle still shows available to add to my cart and there's only 1 left? When I heard we were getting a BevMo! a few years back, I was so excited because I had been to several other locations in the Southern California area and always loved walking into one! This location is no exception as its located in the Riverwalk shopping center next to prominent stores like Sprouts, TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack. As soon as you walk in to BevMo!, your eyes will light up with delight as you see all the booze in front of you! This store is always very, very well organized and I can easily access any of the alcohol I need. They also have non-alcoholic mixers, appetizers for parties, and cups and plates for your next get-together! I specifically come here for tequila and whiskey since those are my drinks of choice. I particularly like the fact that they have rare tequilas that no one else in town has due to being an alcohol specialty store! I get Maestro Tequilero Dobel Diamante Reposado (which is an amazing Tequila that is beyond smooth) here because no one else in town has it and I went crazy for it when I tasted it in Mexico! Also, if I want a higher-end scotch, I'll come here! My only downside of this place is the price. It can be very pricey here, even with a BevMo! rewards card. Then again, it is a specialty store and you will have to pay the price to get this much variety and alcohol. I also need to add that the cups and plates are REALLY overpriced and this is a last resort if you can't get them anywhere else. So, don't buy your cups and plates here! Get them somewhere cheaper! Overall, I really enjoy BevMo! It's a really neat store that has tons of different types of alcohol that will suit the palates of many a connoisseur! My only caveat is that they do have steep prices sometimes, but they make up for it with sales like "Buy one and get one for 5 cents." Pretty neat! We have been purchasing kegs of beer from Bevmo for the past 3 years. Took a break from the keg and came back today, ready to buy! What happened to this store? Horrible customer service, it was like uprooting a 109 yr old tree! The stump (Managers on duty 12/1/2022) didn't want to move or be bothered to make a sale! I had to track down the keg we wanted from a local brewer and coordinate delivery to Bevmo. I called a couple of times to track delivery which annoyed them. We previously worked with their great Manager Jeff who is unfortunately no longer there. He was there to sell! "Let me know what you want, and we'll get it for you!" Nice man, great above & beyond service, with a smile. We would take 2 empty kegs and swap upon purchase of 2 new full kegs. Easy peasy! No worries about "old receipts" to exchange an empty keg for the purchase of a full one. Not new management, no receipt, pay another $40 deposit and we'll still take the empty keg..BS! Went back home and got OLD receipts. Returned to store but only had 2 of the 3 empty kegs! They refused to honor the 3rd deposit, and stated they've never sold that beer....WRONG, we have their old ad/flyer!! It may cost us $40, but it will cost them waaayyy more from a lost customer, along with our friends and reviews such as this! Read other reviews from this year, and we're not alone! We found that every box, whether it was in the cooler or on the shelf, was expired as well. Seriously, how is it that even Visalia has had a BevMo! for years and Bakersfield hadn't made the cut until we scored this relatively new BevMo! located in Riverwalk shops. For YEARS I have been shopping at the BevMo! store in Valencia every time I traverse the Grapevine and stocking up on liquor like a survivalist preparing for the collapse of the government (though comparing the fancy cheeses I can purchase at BevMo! to freeze-dried combat rations is almost sacrilegious). Why, you might ask, has it been worth driving out of town to find a BevMo! to purchase most my liquor up till now? Simple, a great selection of specialties liquors, beer, and wine at discount prices. Usually if a place has a great selection of liquor, the prices are going to be higher or if a place offers great prices on liquor you're probably not going to find a good selection; it's usually a trade-off, one or the other. BevMo! Successfully combines the best of both worlds. I don't know how they do it (does it really matter?) but they do. Is it the absolutel BEST selection in town? Probably not, but it splits the difference well. You may have guessed from the name that you can buy a variety of beverages here; what you may not have realized it that they sell so much more. You can find an assortment of glassware to furnish a reputable home bar from shot glasses to champagne glasses to Moscow mule copper mugs, and more. Need a corkscrew? I never realized how much I needed this store until it actually opened. BevMo! is like an adults playground. They have every alcoholic beverage you can think of. There are aisles and aisles of beer, wine, liquor, and mixers galore. They also sell cheese and caviar if you're looking for that. Their rewards program is extremely convenient when wanting to buy some cheap alcohol. If you input your email, they also send you coupons that you can use. On the weekends they offer beer and wine tastings at the back of the store for $2 but that gets removed if you make a $10 purchase. Not willing to spend the cash on a full bottle of liquor you're not sure will taste great? Well, they also have the 1-3oz bottles of different drinks that you can test before making the commitment of buying the full bottle. These are especially great if you plan to travel on a plane and don't want to spend a lot. I'll definitely continue to come here for my alcohol, especially if planning a large party. read more

Amazing customer service! I was trying to place a large beer/wine order for my wedding and the website would not accept my credit card payment. I called the store and though I was re-routed through customer service, Jeff talked me through the process and was very patient with me. After my order was made, I made additions and BevMo accommodated the changes and Jeff accommodated my several calls to make sure everything had gone through accurately. BevMo also agreed to deliver all of the beer/wine for free to Springville, CA which is outside of the county. The venue was out of cell service, but they assured me that was not a problem. Jeff rented a truck and drove it all the way to Springville for the delivery. He wouldn't even accept a tip. The service was incredible and we would definitely order from them again. This is my first time to visit BevMo, actually any BevMo. I have been wanting to come here to check it out especially the tastings on Fridays & Saturdays but never remember. A co-worker told me about an IPA that was going to be sold here today and it was limited to 12 bottles per store, Sticky Monkey by Firestone.We came to BevMo in the morning at 9am as that is the time the shipment was supposed to arrive, but it didn't so we left our name and numbers. To be honest, I was already thinking, next time cause I doubt they will call. Most places won't follow up. Time passed and about 2pm my co-worker said BevMo called and they are holding two bottles for us. We went purchased it and requested to keep it there since we cannot bring it back to work and it is very hot outside for it to be kept in the trunk. Great customer service, especially with the follow up call to hold the bottles requested. I plan on coming back here for the tasting but just do not know when. The reason I only gave 3 stars is because I don't know if this customer service was just this instance or is this their natural service. Only time will tell as I returned a few more times. FINALLY! We needed a Bevmo so bad here. The store itself may not have the largest selection in town but it has the best selection in town. You won't find much cheap product here. The greatest thing about Bevmo, in my opinion, is if your local store doesn't have something you're looking for another one of their many stores will. They'll have it shipped to your local store and hold it for you at no additional cost. I stopped by just to peruse and where else in town can you go that has not just a great craft beer and liquor selection but also quality mixers. This is important to me because I enjoy good tonic water. Bevmo has all the best quality brands and for decent prices. The wine selection could be bigger but like I said, if you need something specific, you can get it. I almost feel like Bakersfield is worth living in now. read more

This is one of the smaller Bevmo! locations I have been to. I think it is in a great location. The employees all seem very happy and hardworking. The times I have had questions I have only received knowledgeable and kind help. The prices aren't as fantastic as you would think except for certain regular specials and seasonal sales they have. Overall, it is nice to see in Bakersfield because it is an excellent place for finding the unique drinks you can't find at normal stores here. This place is awesome! Went for the first time and it is an alcoholics Wiilly Wonka factory dream come true!! We danced, alcohol of every kind filled the aisles and angels sang! Lol, no really it is an awesome, locally owned store. The prices are good, the staff were helpful and friendly, clean, beer of every kind, and it is in a great location. This is going to be my spot to buy my beer now. We stopped by to check out the craft soda section. It's not as big as some other BevMos we've visited, but they have some of the big hitters. I love Leninade, a USSR spoof soda brand with a cherry lemonade flavor. This is by far my favorite. When they get it in they sell out quick, so pick it up if you see it. My wife loves Cheerwine, a cherry cola favored drink. Both use pure came sugar, which I think tastes much better than high fructose corn syrup in sodas. We also picked up some flavored for our son. This is a review strictly on Customer Service. I had encountered Bevmo's costomer service both in person and also over the phone. I had ordered some items online and went to pick them up. I asked if I can sign off one of the items and pick up the rest later. They told me no because they don't want to be responsible for items being restocked. I understood and it made sense to me perfectly. My problem is that the manager or whoever spoke to me did not an ounce of customer service. No introduction of who he was but just abrupt with his answer. Have you ever heard of speaking to customers with a smile? Have you not learned to introduce yourself? Another situation, had a friend who ordered a beverage for us online. I called Bevmo and talked to an individual and ask him how this all worked. He said I am going to put you on hold and then someone else picks up the phone, I told them I was being helped by someone else. The first person didn't even tell me that he was handing the phone to another person. None of them have good customer service. You can hear from their voice that they don't want to be bothered and questions are unwanted there. Just buy the stuff you need and leave. No point in returning there. read more

Don't rent a keg from here. They expect their customers to keep their receipt in order to get a $40 deposit back per keg. This is outrageous in my opinion given that I planned an event (a wedding) and I am expected to keep tabs on something as small as this. I live out of town and it was impossible for me to return it so I had a friend return it the next day. The store worked with me on waiting until I could get back into town to receive my deposit, but I was held responsible for making sure I could keep a small piece of paper in order to get my $40.00. There is no other back up plan for them to keep track of their rentals. I won't be shopping here again. read more

He took me to another aisle to find the brand I wanted, and we chatted for a few minutes about mixers, and types of hard root beer they carried. Upon entering my first impression was that it was smaller than expected. However it's very clean and well organized. The staff was friendly and there was plenty of staff to help customers. They also are very knowledge about the products they carry. I didn't peruse the wine as we were there for beer, but there appeared to be good selection. I mean you are going to find a bottle your are satisfied with for the night, no problem. Now for the beer as I am a beer girl. They have a refrigerated section in the back for kegs. Awesome sauce! They have some selections ready to go. If it's tagged it's spoken for, if not it's free game. They had plenty that's free game. We got a 5 gallon keg, but I believe you can also get a 13.5 gallon. They have a large selection of beers you can order for kegs. If you are looking for that day not everything on the list is going to be available. Plan ahead and preorder though and there are tons of options. As for the bottled beer they had plenty of my favorites. Chimay in every variety. Always a plus if they carry that. The prices aren't cheap, but any liquor store that carries the specialty brands is not going to be cheap. Let's face it good beer isn't cheap. read more
