Seems to have a decent selection and prices are on par with other places in the area. Still prefer Total Wine, but this place is closer. I'm a bit creeped out by the location, it being on the lower level of a garage. It's a bit dark and smelly. The location is convenient when making a stop at the grocery store next door. Skip this and go to the Main Street location if you want liquor or wine, or go to Stop-and-Shop if you want beer or seltzer. This location is large and you can find common staples, but for instance when it comes to cocktail bitters, they only carry one or two types (Angostura, maybe one other), which is laughable and frustrates even the staff (why no Peychaud's bitters?). They are also often frequently out of liqueurs I would consider common, such as Midori and Luxardo. Have not been impressed with their beer selection as of late, especially seasonal beers October-December 2023. Really you will have better luck finding beer at Stop and Shop. And oddly they don't carry margarita-style Truly seltzer, but again Stop and Shop does. The staff is friendly and will try to help you; but often times they can't because the store just doesn't stock some items you'd expect them to. So it's ok if you're nearby and need to pick something up, but really would recommend the Main Street location over this (or Stop and Shop). read more

I don't know if they read all the bad reviews but I think they have upped their game. If you are needing help ask for Sylvester. He is great and knowledgeable and a really nice guy. I agree with another poster , the selections are very good. The only place better that I know about is Total Wine in Norwalk, but who wants to drive from Stamford to Norwalk to get a bottle? Maybe it's a sign of the times but in this time of COVID when customers brave the environment to support businesses, isn't good customer service the minimal expectation? This afternoon about 2:30pm I approached the clerk with my selections in my own bag and pushed then under the barrier and awkwardly took them out so she could scan them. I asked her if she could please find me some cardboard separators for my bag. She retrieved a few and placed them on the counter and as I awkwardly tried to place them and my bottles in the bag, all while I'm maneuvering my hand under the protective barrier, she played with her phone that was sitting in the register, unconcerned about my challenges to load the bag and place the cardboard separators, despite a growing line behind me. read more

Went there to buy beer about 10 minutes before closing. The employee at the entrance told me no backpacks, asked me to put mine down in the front. I said "sure", then the guy starts giving me crap about how there's a sign on the door, as if I'm going to pay attention to that when I'm rushing to buy stuff before they close at 9 p.m. Rude. This BevMax is located in the Ridgeway Shopping Center in Stamford. It's pretty conveniently located next to a Stop and Shop. It looks bigger from the outside than the inside, but it has a pretty decent selection of local CT micros, as well as a wine and liquor selection. You won't find anything super rare here but they've got a satisfactory selection. Service is pretty indifferent. The cashiers are polite, and I haven't ever had any of the staff ask me if I've needed help. read more

Not impressed with this place. Parking, for me, is always a hassle. Never can find a spot on their lot. Cashiers are not overly friendly. I can walk around for days looking for something, and no one will ask me if I need help. I have to look for someone who looks like they work there and ask them. Customer service could be a lot better all around. And I don't like how they have the cashier line going directly into the product isle. If you want something in that isle, you'll have to look between customers who are standing on line. Really?! They really need a better system for their check out lines. read more

I saw with my own eyes someone blatantly walking out of this store in between the security sensors with a case of beer and bottle of liquor. I immediately told the blonde woman at the register and she literally said "meh" ... and continued to ring me up. Really? The current manager is rude and not helpful. The cashiers are the only good thing about this store. They had good people when they first open. I rather pay more or go out of my way for good service.
