I took my good lady (who was recovering from illness) on a short break via coach to the lovely town of Beverley in Yorkshire where we stayed at the Beverley Arms Hotel. The hotel is a three star, tastefully decorated, and on the whole appeared worthy of the star rating it had acquired. However the dining experience did not match up with the rest of the hotel, it was over an hour before starters were served, another forty minutes for the main course, and as for sweet - many of our party never stayed to find out !.There were only TWO waitresses to cover the whole dining room. Next morning the Coach company were inundated with complaints, including that morning's breakfast - absolutely vile. Things improved slightly as the week wore on - but not to the standard expected of the place. On speaking to locals, they all spoke of it as THE hotel in Beverley, which makes you think - a coach party from Scotland? - let's make a fast buck. As usual the staff were left to fend off irate customers, and the management kept their heads below the parapet. Maybe at another time we could have had a better experience, but for now it's not on my recommended list. read more
