The service is different from what you get in America. There is never a rush and as always at any restaurant here, no tip is expected. As an American, I would expect y'all learn the conversion and tip. They have a low minimum wage here. This place is paradise. It's worth every pound to support their economy! Keep places like this alive with locals. Tip, and help places like this survive and thrive! As almost every cafe I have been to in Scotland, dogs are always welcome! I love that! Like almost every cafe I have been to they use limited silverware or either the utensils are recyclable. Almost everyone is super conscious about protecting the earth. I find this appealing and hope it catches on across the pond! September 2023

There offer fruit picking, a play area and a cafe. they have a wide range of foods available for picking at different times of the year. A fabulous, huge out door play area with sunken trampolines, slides, sandpits, cars and swings. the also have a great cafe with out door and indoor seating. They sell the most gorgeous strawberry tarts i have ever tasted, and they are huge. infact all there food is lovely and great sized portions. The pricing for the pick your own fruit are very reasonible, infact we went back for more when we realised how little we had spent. in the end we went a bit mad n were handing out strawberrys to the neighbours because we didnt want to waste them. i highly recommend this place, for the strawberry tarts alone, but its a great family day out.

Would have been 4 stars but have to stand up for my niece, who was being resoundly ignored by the…read morecafe staff until her mother had to call them out (ignored meaning serving other customers around her and standing chatting in front of her... seriously) however Cairnie fruit farm is a grand day out for the family. Start off by wandering around the fruit fields - in August, there are tayberries, raspberries (giant and ickle), strawberries, gooseberries, red and blackcurrants to choose from. I believe this will vary due to seasonal changes. Once you have picked 30-40lbs of fruit and eaten 60lbs worth, wander over (hopefully with kids in tow) to the playground where you can entertain yourself with the mega maze (made with maize chortle... well, corn) - this year it is a Spitfire to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Britain, but once the crops are harvested, it will be regrown as something new next year. After that, the farmer go-karts, zipline, trampolines, mini hay maze... it's a good day out for the family. There is also a shop and cafe. The cafe is a bit of a disaster area - when we got there, it was heaving, so naturally expected to bring a little drama. However, with 3-4 girls serving from one location behind the counter, it gets a little bit confusing. I ordered a mug of courgette soup (uber salty but otherwise good) and a panini. I was given a wooden spoon with my order number for the panini. However, it was ready before I even managed to pay. At this point, I had one girl trying to give me a mocha and charge me, and another coming in from behind to give me my lunch. As an attack tactic, I applaud, but for serving lunch... not so much and it started to frazzle me out a little. The panini was pretty lacklustre with some rather minty-tasting pesto, and the scone I ordered (yes I had big eyes) was pretty good although the cream to jam ratio was about 200:1 - a little less cream and more jam please. Saying that, overall the food was ok and not super-expensive.

**WARNING** This is a lengthy review and you WILL be hungry after reading!…read more Just outside Perth and a short detour from the A9 lies Tibbermore (I know, cute right!), a typical 'blink and you'll miss it' kinda place, but really, just don't blink cos this place is awesome! It really does have it all - fresh fruit and vegetables all leafy and colourful, a gin lovers corner, wonderful cheese and meats deli, health foods section including a variety a GF flours, breads and oatcakes (try their own oatcakes, completely different from the brand that sounds like Talkers but sooo much tastier!), tray upon tray of freshly laid eggs...I could go on but you get the idea! And that's just the food section! They also have a glorious gift section where I could've easily spent a small fortune. Everything from kitchen gadgets to picnic baskets, kiddie gifts to Emma Bridgewater pottery and everything in between. I spotted a few local producers too which I loved as I always like to see locals businesses supporting each other. Then there's the café/restaurant which has a few outdoor tables but plenty inside if they're taken; the day I visited it was glorious but somehow we got lucky and got a table outside (my shoulders can prove that #scottishtan!...). The menu has lots of tasty options incorporating as much of their own produce as possible - I opted for the Homemade Chicken Liver pate while my parents both had the Smoked Ayrshire Ham & Gloagburn Curried Banana Chutney sandwich (Dad went hunting for the ham to buy later he was that impressed!). Once decided, we had to go inside and order at the counter; I'm not sure if this was due to us sitting outside or standard practise as when we asked for a second round of coffees (and some more oatcakes for me as I'd ran out!), a waitress came over with one of those electronic hand-held thingys to take that order so I wondered why she couldn't have done that initially, anyway, not really a star-affecting issue. Pricewise, we were just shy of £10/head for a sandwich and coffee (exc our 2nd coffee round), a tad steep but it's all fresh and local produce so I don't mind paying that when you know you're getting good quality (and it really was!). Given it's out-the-way location it's a busy wee place but worth the trip as you could easily spend a couple of hours here eating and browsing. There's plenty parking available and even a small play area for kids. Farm Shops like this don't come around too often, which is a shame as they really are wee gems of places!

This one doesn't need too much of an intro as the clue really is in the title!…read more Hidden away on the wee winding road between Scone and Meikleour this is the hidden gems of all hidden gems. Stepping foot inside the farm shop you are met with a marvellous mass of colour - succulent strawberries, beautiful blueberries, rosy raspberries and cheery cherries already picked from the surrounding fields and ready to take home. Move past these (if you can, they're on 3 for £6 mix and match!), and you'll find homemade jams, fresh breads and bakes, eggs, vegetables and plenty chilled goodies all screaming to be picked. To my utmost joy I also spotted a coffee machine and with sheltered seating next to the shop in the form of one of the fruit tunnels, I can't think of anything better to do on a sunny afternoon than gaze into the Perthshire countryside with fresh fruit and a cuppa, oh happy days! On the other side of the shop you can also buy some lovely plants and flowers to take away (I'm not very green-fingered so will admit to not spending much time noting the details here!). Okay so if you're thinking that's all very nice sounding, but it seems too much of a trek for you then good news! They park up at one of the Glasgow farmers markets (Partick I believe) too! And, having had their raspberries with my breakfast all this week, trust me, it's worth the visit, there's nothing better than fresh Scottish berries :-)
