This organization is one of the reasons I decided to stay in Tulsa. They offer a variety of…read moreleadership development programs to build skills and create connections in the community through service. Going through their main flagship program, LT 360, (Class 51 #BestClassEver!), when I was relatively new to Tulsa was one of the best decisions I made. Even though I graduated from a Tulsa high school, I had never heard of the Race Massacre and how it still impacts our community today. I learned so much about Tulsa as a whole and the amazing people tackling different issues to make it better. It changed my perspective and made me excited to make Tulsa my home. I still keep in touch with some of the other members of my class and it allowed me to network outside my regular field. I have also gone through their Hispanic Leadership Institute and it was an amazing opportunity to connect with others and reflect on relevant topics in our community. There was also a project component to it which increases engagement and involvement in our community. Lastly, they have recently opened an amazing facility with conference rooms and event spaces open to the public. I've attended events and workshops here and it's an amazing space. Their staff is amazing too! Can't recommend enough.

LT REPRESENT CLASS 2! I started following Leadership Tulsa…read moreon social media before ever moving to Tulsa. I knew I wanted to get involved with them once I was in a position to make the commitment. I moved here as a "single mom" while my husband was stuck abroad with immigration issues. Once we knew he was coming home, I applied for the Represent program. I make it sound like a huge commitment-it's not. But each cohort they have requires a kick-off overnight retreat and I'm one of those moms who won't allow my child to sleep over with anyone except her grandparents. LT runs a few different programs out of their center, with multiple cohorts each year. I was in their newest class, represent, which helps folks learn about running a campaign and what running for and being in different local and state office positions entails. I learned a lot, and I think everyone in my class felt that way over the six months we spent training. We got the opportunity to meet so many aha ing leaders from local school board members up to members of the OK House. Marcia and her staff who do all the programming here are phenomenal and you know they love the work they do. The new office space is great! When you are a member of a LT cohort, you have free access to co-work here. I have my usual co-working space, but sometimes it's nice to change it up, and I do that here. They have a monthly fee community co-work day where all folks can come check out the space. I'm really grateful for not only all that I learned in my cohort, but also the friends I made and cultivated through the class.

Welcome 2024!!!! I…read morecouldn't imagine going into 2024 without the help of Porta Caeli. "you have never really LIVED until you have done something for someone who can never repay you" ----Mother Theresa My family and I are forever grateful to the great souls at this hospice house. Many thanks to the staff and the great folks that donate to the hospice house. Although, we haven't lost our loved one as of yet, one week at the hospice house and we feel so supported. Going through these tough days are easier by visits from priests (at least 3 times a week), food prepared daily, attentive staff, and all the comforts of home. I can not say thank you enough!!! My loved one feels better about transitioning knowing that prayer comes from 90 year old priests and deacons that have traveled as missionaries throughout the world (with more than 65-70 years of serving under their belt). I think my loved one is in good hands!

This is a hospice residence on the campus of Catholic Charities on North Harvard. Towards the end…read moreof my moms life journey this place stepped up and made her last days as good as possible given her state. The property is only about 3 yrs old but looks brand new on the inside and outside. I believe they can house up to twelve guests although while my mom was there there were only 2, including my mom. The staff was nothing but kind and focused on treating their guests respectfully. It is NOT a medical facility, there aren't IV's everywhere and noisy equipment. The rooms are comfortable with TV's and Amazon Alexa to provide music. Normally (outside of this covid stupidity) there is access to a nice outside garden area, a chapel, and an inside social area.Hospice nurses check regularly on the guests to make sure they are as comfortable as possible. The staff not only check on the guests regularly but also check on the guests of the guest. In my moms case it seemed at first her meds weren't making her comfortable. The staff here noticed exactly the same thing so when the hospice nurses came by they worked with them to insure my mom was medicated adequately. I can't say enough about the staff. Hospice work HAS to be one of the hardest jobs on a persons physical AND mental well being. I know that I would be wholly inadequate to do this work and I really appreciate the folks that make it their calling. If you have to bring a loved one to this place I can say that they will be cared for and respected. Go to their website portacaeli.org and give them any support you can, this is a worthy ministry.
