I had an event not too far from here, so I stopped in to try out their happy hour. First of all, it starts at 1 pm, which is pure awesomeness and runs til 6. The cocktail menu is top notch, with a wide variety of current popular drinks (they are actually known for their unlimited Espresso Martini Thursdays once a month) but they are stocked well enough to make almost anything you might want. Food menu, is actually quite amazing for a happy hour. If you've ever eaten at the Bohemia (the in-house restaurant) you know how good the food is. Old school, traditional, rich and delicious are the words I would use, and the happy doesn't skimp on any of those qualities. Just a better price. Anyone who has ever followed my reviews knows I'm a burger nut, and of course I ordered the smash burger. I genuinely loved this one. While typically I don't like a lot of sauces on my burgers, the zip sauce on this was delicious and the bacon was of the highest quality. If you get lucky to have Mike as your bartender, you're in for a fun, entertaining time. He has a thousand stories, a manic energy and makes fantastic drinks.

Belle Isle is a beautiful island located just off of the coast of Detroit and in the Detroit river. We took the time to drive around the island and took in the views of the water and parks and lakes that were inside the island. Once we arrived to the yacht club, the security guards were very friendly and approachable and we gave them our names and parked. All of the staff amazed me. The bartenders were fantastic, and even the servers were able to bring us additional food Even though we probably were not meant to have multiple bread baskets. The sunset over the water and the marina outside was just the icing on the cake to a beautiful venue. I would love to be a member here!

The guys in the band were a lot of fun, and one of the singers was really good at interacting with the small crowd that night. They may or may not ask your name so they may call your name or what is in your order when it is ready to pick up. It took about 10 min for our orders to be called. They do not use cod (heaven forbid!), rather large pieces of hake and it is hand-battered. The fish was very tender, delicious, and flavorful. Batter was light and crisp. The dish comes with slaw and bread. We got the mushy peas for the whole cultural experience. We also got the steak pie. It was like a beef potpie without the veggies, packed with steak and gravy in a very tender crust. All were very filling and delish. Besides the fish and chips, a major highlight was how friendly the members were, welcoming us so warmly. The sweet older ladies that served us are the the cutest, charming ladies with their accents. Whenever I ESPECIALLY hear a British accent, I feel like I am in a movie or TV show. It is just slightly surreal. I want them to keep talking to hear how British they are.
