Incredibly rude and violated public health policy's. If you serve food, a bathroom that is available should be accessible. Your staff refused to let my family member use the facilities with the excuse of "just cleaned it." Well I hope they are clean, but they should never be off limits to customers. This place was great pre-buyout when it was Healy's Health Hut. Now they have exponentially more products, hot bar, etc. but the staff cannot be bothered to help you. Some of the cashiers are friendly and will remind you of your discount but others look bored and resent you interrupting their social time. Sad read more

I stopped in for vitamins, protein powder, and stevia sweetener. They're having a sale, so everything is discounted! That was a plus. I didn't see the Orgain protein powder in the size I wanted and ended up getting one I haven't used in years, Spirutein. A sales lady actually pointed out a protein powder with vegetables in it. I passed on it because it had almost triple the amount of sodium as the other products I was considering! I appreciated her bringing something to my attention even though it wasn't the protein powder for me. They always have someone offering help inside the store! I give stars because the cashiers are always great and friendly. The store itself is very overpriced and I typically go for specialty items or a few essentials because it's convenient (I'd never do my actual full grocery shopping there). That aside , the reason for the deduction in stars are the fact that they are CONSTANTLY overcharging and items ring up higher than they are supposed to. For example, I went once and got 5 items. Of the 5, 4 rang up more than the posted signs, with differences of $2 from the actual posted price. They will "fix it" and adjust the price when you point it out, but I can only imagine how many people don't catch it and just pay. It feels dishonest. I got some beverages which rang up as more than advertised on the sign so I let them know; they apologized and corrected it on my order. Went back over a week later and got the same beverages, still rang up as more again, so obviously the issue was not actually corrected unless caught by a customer. Just a warning to others to check prices, because there is a chance that you will overpay if not. read more

I'm so glad this isn't my regular Better Health. If it was, I'd stop coming. I was trying to ask an employee a question and apparently her conversation with another employee was more important than a paying customer. Plus, when I asked again she was rude to me and turned her back to me. I put my basket of items down and walked out. On more than one occasion they are so busy being in a conversation with other cashiers that you feel like you are intruding on their conversation. Even though the avocados here cost $4, I have found some good deals. There's a wide selection of "healthy snacks," and I went wild when my favorite chickpea puffs were on sale. The meal replacement smoothies, prepared foods, and rolled oats snacks are all great. I enjoy how clean the store is, and the staff here is really nice. I hope to one day be wealthy enough to afford staple groceries here, but for now Better Health fits into my budget for a quick snack/lunch. read more

If you haven't checked out the expansion of Better Health then you should! I use to go there when it was up the street and a small store to get supplements and what not. Now it has expanded and is a full on market. The first thing I noticed was the option of fresh produce. Right when you walk in there are fruit and veggie options. I actually came in looking for a green juice, but only had bolthouse juices in the grab in go section. Maybe the reason why they only had one ready to go option of juice because they make fresh juices. They are around 8 dollars, kinda expensive for a juice. Especially when competitors are around 5 and 6. I also saw the hot food bar. Looked yummy! Definitely a Whole Foods vibes, but on a smaller scale. Like I said they have a juice and smoothie bar. As well they have Açai bowls. While you wait you can get seduced by their freshly made baked goods. I was totally seduced and purchased the lemon poppy seed gluten free muffin. So to my gluten free peeps, here is an option for some gluten free treats. Also if you order a muffin, I would ask to heat it up. Lastly, I did end up getting a wheatgrass shot while I was there. I believe it was 3 dollars in some change. So, they have that and a lot more. Go check them out. read more

Great staff, great products! A very well lit, clean, environment tucked away on Detroit's East Side, near Grosse Pointe. The staff were very knowledgeable, down to earth, and helpful . I have been finding all of my shopping needs met here. They do a good job of keeping their customers informed of deals with their text coupons. I would highly recommend this place. There should be more of them in and around Detroit proper. Cass Corridor and or maybe the Woodbridge area would be a wise move for this business to consider some kind of expansion. During this time when EVERY other business is taking extra precautions and measures to protect and provide patrons with the tools to stay safe, Better Health in Grosse Pointe not only does not clean their shopping carts and baskets, they do not offer any way for customers to do so. Additionally, they have a sign that says "Mask must be worn", but every single time I've been in there since that notice has been up, there have been multiple people wandering around without them and nobody says a word. Please tell me why you are the only business I've been in that does not have any health standards but go by the name Better Health? read more

Spacious, pleasant place to shop, great selection of supplements and groceries. I enjoy the bulk food area, the beauty products, and the clean, bright feel of the place. The produce section is small and the veggies are often fairly well along, but I wouldn't expect produce to be their mainstay. I've been stopping in for decades now since it was the Health Hut, and miss the fresh, "lunch break ready" sandwiches they used to have. The staff is sometimes kinda friendly...they don't tend to go out of their way for you though. On one occasion, when I asked the cashier what the benefit is to having my key card scanned, the person replied "oh, nothing, really." I laughed in amusement-at least they were honest! After I was added to their database, I began receiving mailers with coupons on the back. Coupons that aren't great-ones like "save 10% when you spend $100" or something similar. Dropping dough here is easy though because the prices are quite high. Each price sticker has the "Regular price" compared with "Our price" on them, and I'm sorry but this is so misleading-you'll pay more here than other health food stores, Trader Joe's, and the health section at the chain grocery store. One has to eyeball labels too-many seemingly healthy things here contain MSG and other undesirables. I save this place for quick run-ins. read more

But they have things there that you simply cannot find other places if you eat a certain way. Great selection of Kombucha...that's hard to find. So if that's something you really want (and I do) you have to pay for it. Serious selection of vitamins and things like that but you have to know what you want...employees are not schooled in what's on the shelves. But they are nice and try to help. I'll go there for some special items, but Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Kroger are still tops for the way I eat. Stopped in and was able to locate the HBA items I came for plus a little extra I hadn't planned to buy. Good selection of pretty much everything. Picture perfect produce section, cold drinks, many gluten free selections, even a refrigerated cabinet for temperature sensitive supplements. Prices on a par with Whole Foods, my reward program signup saved me 10%. Also had no trouble with employees. I was greeted immediately when I entered and had just enough help offered and supplied by just enough people without feeling like I was being helicoptered or pressured with an upsell. While I was checking out an older employee in his 40's with not many teeth came behind my cashier and grabbed her chest inappropriately and she clearly wasn't happy about it and it made me super uncomfortable. I really hope this isn't the sort of behavior this company allows to happen. I really feel bad for the female employees if so. Yes it's small but I love the staff and help I get when I'm there. I only go in for supplements and small snacks so it works out great for me. The pricing for their supplements are actually pretty comparable. Clean store, great location, can't wait until they move to their larger location hopefully this summer. read more

I get way better service going to Kroger or Trader Joe's, and probably even Walmart. The selection at the store is okay, but totally overpriced. Just moved to the area and happy to find a place to stock up on my necessities. I was relieved to find my fav brands of dairy free products, different types of unique flours and flour blends, Annie's frozen meals, meatless pups and great selection of supplements and protein mixes/bars. Some reviews mentioned higher prices. I haven't had a good local place to compare to just yet, but being from out of state they are a little less. I frequent the BH Grosse Pointe location quite often, due to my son's food allergy. Every time I'm in there the staff seems less than cooperative (with the exception of the manager). I needed up purchasing enzymes for my son, and after looking around for about 10-15 minutes (in the same spot mind you),I was finally able to get the help of an older woman. She was very short with me, and refused to talk on the phone to my sister to understand what I was looking for. She wouldn't even cooperate on the speaker phone with us. I swear, if they didn't sell a few of the items I can't find at Whole Foods or Krogers, I would be complete through with this market. read more

Really, I want to love this place more than I do. I adored it when it was Healy's so I continued to shop there once the owner retired and sold it to Better Health. For the selection of food items, it's mostly terrific. Prices are good (although I think the "normal price" and "Better Health" price on all of the price tags is gimmicky and often not reality based) as long as you're comparing real equals. The same brand of distilled water as they carry at Kroger is actually cheaper here. They also have Organic Valley brand items, which I love. The downside, however, is you must be sure you triple check the expiration date of ANY of the food items, especially those in the refrigerated section. I once almost purchased 3 month out of date cookie dough. I'm sure it wouldn't have killed me, but I'm also pretty sure they wouldn't have given me a discount on it. All of the flavors of yogurt my son wanted? At least a week out of date. It's an ongoing deal I've seen every single time I go here. I also now realize I must double check ingredients on everything I buy there, unlike any other real health-food type place I've been in. I picked up a coconut bar that sounded good, only to come home and find out it's got sucralose in it. Ick. They do carry Just Delicious scones, which is a huge plus. This place is mediocre, at best, on vitamins and beauty products like shampoo and soaps. It used to be better when they first opened, but slowly the selection has gotten smaller and smaller. The prices on the vitamins they do have are also far higher than elsewhere. Helpful employees can be a hit or miss, trending to a complete miss lately. If you need vitamin advice, don't expect you'll find it here. Because I usually end up with half of my list requiring a visit to another health food store, I go to this place a whole lot less than I use to or would otherwise. read more

Prices are better than others but only shop here if you know what you're looking for. You won't get help from anyone unless you seek out an employee and ask. I was in the other day and there were probably 4 employees standing together talking about tv and whatever else meanwhile I'm walking up and down the isles because I don't know where anythings at. At one point I was actually standing just a few feet away from all of them, comparing products and not one of them asked if I needed help. I probably would buy more if I had more help. read more

The staff at this new location are not that friendly ,especially the one sever at the fresh food section , he walks with a limp ,I find him to be very rude ,I went there today and asked if they had any vegan selections and he said yes ,I asked f they had a menu and he said no you can go online and print it yourself ,it's not what he said but the way he said it ,the staff at the older location was much nicer ,and the prices are ridiculous ! the food at the counter that you pack yourself is always dried up and unappealing if you go later in the day and the salad bar is picked over and messy ,I was excited about the food section ,at first ,but I think I'll pass on it from now on and go to trader Joes ,the staff there are super friendly and helpful, I don't expect the staff to be my best friend ,but I do expect them to be courteous..
