I was considering a lower rating based on the wait for alterations but I think that would be quite unfair of me. I had a great experience picking out my gown. The owner and the sales girl tirelessly brought me formals to try. They spent at least an hour helping me find the perfect dress for my occasion. My one complaint was that when I returned to try my gown on after alterations, it simply wasn't ready. I was kind of grumpy about it but the seamstress came out, measured, and fixed my dress immediately. After a second try she made more adjustments on the spot. They spent about an hour getting the dress perfect. While waiting for the alterations I had an opportunity to speak with the owner. She truly is a gem. I understand how someone would think her rude but you must account for her ethnic background. What may seem sharp or rude is simply a difference in her ethnicity. She was a treat to talk with and genuinely cares for her customers. They did lose a star for the wait but that was my only complaint. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Betsy is the rudest, most disrespectful person I've ever met. My sister brought a dress from them for my wedding and they completely ruined it. They did the alterations because according to Betsy she's been the business for 41 years so we trusted her but the alterations destroyed the dress. She cut it on an angle, the under layers were longer than the actual dress, they decided on their own to change the top, the dress was so short and uneven there was no way to fix it. My sister left with the dress because she was waiting for so long and no one came in to check in on her. When we came back to let them know about the issues betsy came out ready to fight/ argue. She never once apologized about all of the issues and only blamed the seamstress even though betsy was the one that pinned the dress. She never took ownership or felt remorse once. Betsy's was recommended to me by a friend of mine who claims she has the best prices in town. Well, considering my current circumstances, she has not pulled through with my bridal dress. She said my dress would be in September 18 and today is October 7. My wedding is 6 days from now and she has still not received my dress. She doesn't return calls (EVER), she's very short with you, almost conniving. She has poor customer service and people skills. The only reason why she's still in business is due to her heavy discounts on dresses. That is usually what drives people, money. Unfortunately, I made the same mistake by trusting her with ordering my bridal dress. I could have probably spared the grief by spending another $300-$400 so I didn't deal with this. Although her alterations are included with the purchase, I will not have her do any other service, provided I do receive the dress. I will purchase the dress and take it with me and never turn back! Betsy should be more sensitive and attentive to important dates and deadlines! This was my first experience with her and after learning of others opinions and previous experiences, I was feeling regretful during this whole process. The one thing you don't want to do is upset the bride. I think that's a good rule to follow. For me however you don't want to upset my Matron of Honor and I together. It's kind of like dropping a Mento in Diet Pepsi, a small explosion may occur and things could get messy! The young lady who greeted up snapping her gum and blowing bubbles was nice at first. We waited for Betsy to arrive to take our measurements. IN the meantime we tried on the dress we drove there specifically to see. When Godzilla...I mean Betsy arrived she was immediately pushy and in your face rude. I was not comfortable with her AT ALL. I'm going to make this semi long story short and just tell you if you are in need of formal wear or a gown of any kind DO NOT GO HERE unless you enjoy being forced into making quick choices and rude employees. I never even set foot in this store but the customer service that I received over the phone was horrible! Rewind to three weeks ago, I was overjoyed to find out that this salon was an authorized retailer of my dream wedding dress...especially since it is only a mile from my home. So I called the store to inquire if they had my style number in stock. The sales person stated that she did not know and that I should call back in 15 min. I did just that. When I called the store back, the sales person stated that she still did not know and would call me back in an hour. An hour passed. A week passed. Finally, I called the store back. Seemingly annoyed, the sales person told me that they did not carry the dress. Considering that this store stood to make a couple of thousand off of me, you would think that they would have made more of an effort to make a sale. Owner is extremely rude. Treats employees and customers like garbage. I've never left a full review on any business because I never found it necessary until I went to this establishment. I walked in with my mom to find a dress a couple weeks ago and this woman was helping us put dresses aside until a fitting room freed up. I was waiting and this other woman who I later found out was Betsy was looking for a gown for a customer. The dress was put in the wrong section I guess and she she went off on the employee that was helping me. She kept yelling at her. It made me uncomfortable. 5 minutes later I was moved to the back area to get ready to try on the dresses. Betsy then was going on and on about how that other dress was misplaced and she's sick and tired of it blah blah. She wouldn't stop. She was snapping on the worker in English and Arabic. Then I looked at the two of them and said. You know what I'll come back at a different time. I started to walk out and then Betsy looked at my mom and started telling my mom about her employee and how she made her look for the dress blah blah. I turned around when I realized and told her... "now is not the time. You don't do this in front of other people" she then got irritated that we weren't agreeing with her and was walking away. And I asked who owns this place. She said with an attitude "Me!" So we walked out and said we don't want to give this woman our business. I'll never step foot in there again. What a horrible first impression. If I could have given zero stars I would have. This is the WORST BRIDAL SALON EVER!!! My mom got her mother of the bride dress there. Once we bought the dress we started to set dates to come in for alterations. On 3 separate occasions we came for our next fitting only to find out that the dress was NEVER altered or touched from the LAST visit!! The dress had stains on it that were NOT there when we bought the dress. Everytime we asked about the stains we were told "Don't worry, we will take care of it". We were done with alterations and went to pick the dress up. Once there, we found out that the dress was NEVER cleaned as promised and they tried to push us out of the door with a STAINED DRESS!!! I will never step foot in this store again. I came in to look at the bridesmaids dresses and evening gowns, with an idea of what I like and don't like, communicating those details to the woman helping me. Not only would she not let me look at the dresses and pick what I liked, but she was picking dresses FOR me and demanded that I try those on. When I would say very politely that I didn't like the dress, I was assaulted with a slew of questions and argument as to how I couldn't possibly like the dress. If you want to be harassed, yes, absolutely come here to shop. Otherwise, save yourself the time, aggravation, and head ache. I just wanted to thank Betsy's and her team for all the hard work they did on my dress. From the moment I stepped in the building everyone was attentive and made sure I was happy and comfortable. I picked a dress that was 10 sizes to small for me as I am plus size bride. Betsy said no problem!!!! With having a covid wedding it took a couple years to actually get married and they were absolutely wonderful about it. So over 2 years I kept going back and forth and every single time the dress kept getting better and better. The finished product was stunning to take a dress for a size 10 to size 22 without a seam out of place was no small task and the dress and veil was absolutely stunning. I do pageants so I am a regular to buying gowns, I noticed in the window they had potential pageant wear for me. I've been here multiple times and will continue to come to Betsy! She is absolutely amazing and a life savior! She gives the greatest deals on any dress in her store & if she doesn't have it- she will order it for you and still give you a better price! My recent visit was for alterations- I decided to go to Betsy because I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dress. This dress was not anything simple- lots and lots of jewels and delicate material that had to be altered 4 sizes smaller. I only had to go in for a fitting two times and it fit like a glove. She also doesn't charge much for alterations compared to other bridal shops. I also like that Betsy always makes sure the customer is happy and has an eye to make sure you look great in anything. I am a bridesmaid for an upcoming wedding, and after finding dresses to order through Betsy's, we were told the dresses would be ready in a week and a half. That was the first red flag...what bridal salon has bridesmaids dresses ordered, made, and shipped in ten days? We asked repeatedly for clarification and were assured this was not an error. I went back in some days later to get fitted for my dress, and after being measured, the sales associate turned to me and asked, "So, what size dress are you?" I was stunned. She had JUST measured me and was asking me what size dress I think she should order? She repeated herself and asked, "Small, Medium, or Large?" What bridesmaid dresses come in S/M/L?! Stunned, I told her what size bridesmaid dress I usually wear. Ten days turned into ten weeks. The bride called to check in a few weeks in and was told the dresses would be ready several weeks down the road, not the ten days as promised (not a huge deal, we weren't surprised). About halfway through the waiting process, I received a missed call from Betsy's. I called them back, and they told me my dress was ready. However, they had me confused for another order, somehow, as it was not the right style, color, or size. They apologized for their mistake and said they confused me with someone else. OKAY... Ten weeks turned into 14 weeks. Apparently a three day weekend causes a four week delay. When the dresses finally arrived, my dress was absurdly large (and no, in case you're wondering, the dress sizing is numbered, NOT S/M/L), and one of the dresses in our order had a large stain on it (visible through the bag) that initially the shop wouldn't take responsibility for and thought we could take care of ourselves. After some arguing with staff, they agreed to take care of the cleaning of the dirty dress. If you want drama, unprofessional service, error after error, a dirty and ill fitting dress, and inconsistent and false information about your order, then Betsy's is the place for you. read more

The entire botique smells like they smoke in there all day. It's horrible. She puts you in the back where there's lose curtains and ANYONE CAN COME BACK AND SEE YOU. When I told her can you please make sure you close the curtain better she said not to be paranoid and no one can see me. This guy standing holding his baby waiting for his wife saw my chest. I was absolutely mortified!! Also, when I bought a dress from her for my pre-wedding party, she told me no one else has it. I have 6 friends on Facebook who wore the same exact dress, 1 was in a different color (which is fine), but I specifically said I want a unique dress that not a lot of people bought. She squeezed me In to try on bridal gowns when I wish she would have said she was unavailable. I was literally put in a back "fitting room". She'd let anyone come in and out of the area, I wasn't fully dressed and stepped out to grab a gown and there were boys just hanging out with other customers. I was shocked. It's very unorganized and clumsy and full of cigarette smoke. When she asked where I've gone so far she just bashed them all, so unprofessional. I would not recommend Betsy's store. She treats the customer horribly and made both my mom and I cry. She did alterations to my dress I didn't approve of and the store is dirty it smells of smoke and there is no attention paid to detail. Don't let her fool you by telling you about her experience and how she is a dress designer! No matter how low the price it's not worth it, she also misrepresents her products. Good things about this salon: - They let me return and change my dress 2 weeks after I purchased it and I got to use the difference in price to purchase other accessories (the new dress that I wanted was $200 cheaper than the original one that I purchased) - I got $1299 dress for $499 - Dress was done perfectly in the way that I wanted - They charged me one set price for alterations and they did some extra work and didn't charge me extra for it Not so great things about this salon: - wait at each appointment. one time I showed up for my appointment, my dress wasn't ready, so I waited about 45 minutes as they were still sewing my dress. The other time I showed up, they told me to come back in 1-1.5hr later since they were busy. They only do fitting on weekedays where I have to change my work schedule around it, so this was very inconvenient for me that I came to my appointment and they weren't ready for my appointment - they may not be the best at customer service skill. They are nice people, but I wish they were more sincere and understanding and caring for the bride. When I asked them to make my dress tighter, one of the alteration lady said "it's too much work", and that really was not a comment that I wanted to hear since I am paying for the alteration and this is my special day that I wanted to look perfect. so overall, they did get my dress on time, 3 days before my wedding, and I am happy with the price that I paid. read more

Betsey is so rude and her staff is truly un professional. They are forceful and in your face. I went in thee looking for both engagement dress and wedding dress. Betsey commented on my weight at least three times in all four times I visited. They weren't busy so I had three women competing with each other and shoving dresses in my face. I told them for my engagement I wanted long sleeve, and each time I said no to a dress that was suggested, they'd push it back on me and laugh and tell me to try it on. I told them I didn't want to add on sleeves I'd rather buy a dress with sleeves, Betsey forced one on me and quickly brought someone from the back to tell me she'd add sleeves to it. They lie about being ready for pick up. They lie about having a dress ready and sewn. I'd be told my alteration would be done Wednesday morning, I'd call that same morning to confirm and would be passed down to random voices. I go to the store and there's still pins on my sleeves and my event was in two days. They literally had me in tears after I told them I didn't want to come back. She of course had me pay in full before doing anything for me. I'm so glad I didn't buy my wedding dress from them. I ended up leaving the original dress that was forced on me but I didn't let them add sleeves to it. I just didn't want it and Betsey tried convincing me to buy that dress and another one? I told her I wouldn't pay for a dress I wouldn't wear that wouldnt be fair. I ended up quickly choosing another dress LONG SLEEVE. PAYING 100$ EXTRA BC BETSEY IS A CROOK. This was my first encounter with Betsy's and I have to say it was excellent! From the beginning of my wedding dress shopping, to all of the alterations and fittings. I was so grateful for how nice and understanding each of the ladies were. They truly made me feel like family and knew exactly who I was and what I was there for the second I walked in the door. My dress was absolutely beautiful and VERY reasonably priced. There was some difficulty with the lining of the dress but they were able to fix it on the spot and get my dress to me same day. There is no sale or group discount good enough to compel me to return to this place. I was a first-time customer as the bride decided to order bridesmaid dresses from this store. The assistant sized me and ordered the dress, and when the shipment arrived I returned for fitting to find the dress of poor quality and not true to size (far too small despite me being quite thin), with a resulting spiral of poor customer service. The owner, Betsy, refused to exchange the dress for a larger size (she said they were ordered in bulk and therefore non-returnable), she offered in-house tailoring which was unreasonably priced compared to the price of the dress so I refused. Instead, Betsy grabbed the dress from me while I was still in the fitting room changing and took it to her tailor in a back room who subsequently ripped the waistline from the inside, without my consent, and threw it back at me to retry. She asserted that I gained weight since the fitting causing the dress to be too small (I didn't). The dress was beyond reparable and I did not end up wearing it. I wasn't provided a refund; I took the financial loss. During the uncanny time I spent there waiting for service, I was also audience to very bizarre behavior in the interactions with other customers as well. A girl (Girl A) from another bridal party came in to try on her dress and due to a mix-up with another bridesmaid (Girl B -- who was a smaller size and shorter than Girl A) already came in for her fitting and was given Girl B's dress so Girl A's dress was already cut too short, and she couldn't fit into the dress originally for Girl B. The team at Betsy's was non-apologetic. I saw another girl bring her heels in to try on with her dress for proper height adjustments and the owner spontaneously made derogatory comments about the girl's shoes (they looked completely find to me). Another girl broke into tears when the owner made rude comments about her weight when she didn't fit in the dress ordered for her. The store owner constantly cites the number of years that she has been in the business as a justification to be overtly rude and demeaning to her customers. The dresses in Betsy's catalogue are frequently cheaper when you search them online yourself. I will never return to this place and I urge others to do the same. She's extremely rude, mean, and doesn't care about your opinion when altering your dress. She thinks she's a designer and will try to tell you that the way you want your dress fix doesn't look right. If this is your dress and you pay good money for it, you should have it the way you want. I came to Betsy's bridal from Cleveland a 2.5-3 hr drive to find a wedding dress end of January. I recently just picked my dress up, 3 weeks before my wedding because it apparently takes 6 months to add sleeves and build up the chest area. She made me pay in full before she even got started, which was horrible because she already got what she wanted, she got my money and treated my dress like crap. I went many times for alterations, her seamstress is only there certain days so I would make an appointment to meet her and when I got there after driving from Cleveland, the seamstress wouldn't be there!! I had many pointless trips and it's frustrating. Every time I entered that store, I would leave upset. Betsy is unprofessional, even though she isn't the one working on my dress, she is doing a shitty job managing and making sure things get done. The reason why I am writing and spending time on this review is to hopefully prevent anyone from getting alterations there. DO NOT GET ALTERATIONS THERE!! Save yourself the headache. This last time I went there to pick up my dress because Betsy said it was going to be done. She called me the Monday before I went saying my dress was done. I didn't go to Michigan till Saturday so they had 5 extra days to make sure it was done. I got up early Saturday morning, a half hour away from the store, called and asked if they were done with my dress. She said yes it's done come get it. I get there, going to try on my dress and there's still pins in it. Appliqués were not attached to the dress! So after saying the finished my dress twice, they really didn't. I got so mad and was like I'm supposed to take it today and you guys called and said it was done. Then they apologized and said to come back in an hour. I gave them 3 hours to finish my dress. I called her before I arrived at the store and asked again if the dress was done and again they said yes. I got to put on my dress and I lost my mind when I saw the finished product. She writes down on a piece of paper every time I went previously of what needs to get done, and every time she writes "buttons". She just had the hook and eye rather than buttons and it looks horrible, there were large gaps in between and it just didn't look right. I started yelling at her and there was a store full of people. I didn't care. I told her that she is rude and unprofessional and I told a bride that was in there not to get her dress done there because she was rude to my mother in law and she literally had my dress thrown the last time we came. The last time I went there prior to this trip I waked in the back room where the dresses are supposed to be kept. Dresses are hung up and the worker was looking for my dress and it was not hung up. My dress was thrown on a pile of fabric for God knows how long. And when I called her out on it, she tried to deny it. I was literally screaming in the store because she made me that mad. I spoke to that moron Betsy 3 times and each time she said my dress was finished. She told me that she could fix the buttons but I said I didn't want her to touch my dress anymore. She had the longest time to get it done and now she wanted to fix the buttons? I don't think so. When I told her I didn't want her touching my dress anymore she told me to take the dress and get it of the store. Do not deal with this woman, get your dress somewhere else. Oh and she'll probably try to tell her version of this if you eve let mention it, she's a liar. Don't believe what she says.
