We supplied our own composite materials (i.e. Azek) and they supplied the rest. The first day of demo we were charged over $800 for labor and materials. They were at our home for about 3 hours. I paid without hesitation and even gave one of the workers an old bike I had in our garage for his kid. They seemed like nice, honorable guys. I expressed concern at one point during the work when I noticed that the cuts the worker had made were not straight. He informed me not to worry and that, "it will be seamless" once finished. On the last day of the job, I spoke with the admin assistant who informed me that my bill had increased by $800-$1,000 above the quoted estimate. This was news to me and I told her I would like an itemized receipt to account for all costs. A general receipt for "labor" and "wood" was sent to me. There was no itemization at all. Considering we supplied the vast majority of materials, I still have no idea what we were actually charged for. At completion of the work, I was immensely disappointed and could not believe the workers were telling me this was a finished job. For starters, my post now hangs over the decking on one side (see photo). Additionally, their cuts were crooked, their corners not square, and they tried to make up for their poor craftsmanship by filling in with caulk. They also removed our railing and left the post where it was attached unfinished, with a screw hanging out. See photos below for details. I refused payment at completion and called the owner (Jeremiah) to come take a look and help me resolve the issues. I sent him photos and he came to my home with one of his seasoned carpenters to review in person and determine a resolution. At first both men began defending the work, but ultimately it was clearly indefensible and they finally agreed to repair at no additional cost. We all agreed piece by piece which items needed to be repaired and replaced. It was the majority of the job. When they left, we had agreed that his seasoned carpenter would return to repair the shoddy work and that I would pay the remaining balance in full so long as the job was done satisfactorily. We did not agree on a timeline however, and I did not hear from Jeremiah again until over 3 weeks later (?) when I contacted him to inquire about when I might expect work to begin. At this point, Jeremiah's story had changed, and he was no longer agreeing to repair the job unless I paid in full up front. I told him that this was ridiculous because then I would have no guarantee that the job would be done well. He stood his ground and informed me that I "could not be trusted" to pay. I then offered to pay half of the balance with the rest at completion, to which he declined and continued to insist on payment in full before sending anyone for repairs. Since there was no way I could rely on a job well-done based on the first go-around, we decided to part ways. Now I am $800 in the hole, plus the $800 in materials we supplied that were ruined, and still do not have a porch!!! This business cannot be trusted, does not guarantee its work, is unprofessional, and in my opinion, is run by a shyster. I mean I could have written a poor review based on the extra $1,000 they tried to charge me, but their craftsmanship and unreliability are the most shocking. I am disgusted.

It was close to closing time when I called but decided to give it a shot as I needed a door installed ASAP. To my surprise, Dorian answered the phone. I let him know what I needed and he even came that same night after hours to do a consultation. Once he assessed, and understood the urgency he sent a quote that night, and made an appt that same week to install the door/door frame. He sent me all my options and picked everything up at Home Depot for me so I didn't have to move a finger. Dorian answered texts promptly, was very careful with his work, and kept me updated throughout the day on progress/issues he found when installing my door. While he was working he listened to my needs and customized the door to what I needed. At the end of the job he even offered to fix some messed up door locks in the house that my sister mentioned weren't working properly, free of charge. Everything was a seamless process from start to finish. You can tell Dorian takes pride in his work and it shows. I would highly recommend Dorian and the Handyman team for your needs. Now I have a handyman that I will only be using in Fairfield CT.

He came prepared and provided me with an estimate in a timely manner. Although the job has taken longer than expected, Dorian has done a quality job with great customer service. He has kept me informed through every step of the process and has asked me what my preferences are throughout. I'm so happy with the job he has done so far and I will be using him again for future projects in my home!

The moving experience with two studs was mostly positive because of the movers that showed up the day of our move. These two gentlemen make two studs moving look really, really good! Our moving made up for the subpar scheduling experience: The only complaint I have is regarding scheduling and confirmation. When we called to confirm the move for the next day. Chris the owner, mistakenly thought that my girlfriend calling and texting for an appointment confirmation was one of his workers. (At least he addressed her in a way that was unacceptable) He was rude, abrupt, and crude. He asked "why we were texting at 8 PM". Three points here: 1-When receiving messages, confirm you know who the message is coming from - a customer or a employee. 2-Revise your reservation confirmation system. There was a lack of clarity in terms of knowing whether we had a confirmed appointment or not. 3-Speak to customers with respect!

I worked my full hours and was not paid for all of them, despite being told multiple times that payment was coming. I had to repeatedly chase my own wages, and even then, I was still shorted. What made this situation worse is that I was asked for my Social Security number and told that it was the only way I could get paid. I was not given a W-2 or W-4, and to my knowledge, no other workers were asked for their Social Security number. This raised serious concerns for me, especially since proper payroll procedures were never explained or followed. Because of the unpaid wages and the way this was handled, I am now filing a formal wage claim with the Connecticut Department of Labor. No worker should have to beg for money they already earned or feel pressured to give sensitive personal information just to get paid. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision before working for or hiring this company.
