Concerned about how far I live from the hospital my OB delivers at, I decided to switch to a midwife group at the recommendation of a friend. I was thrilled she was willing to take me at 32 weeks. All was great until the day of my actual appointment.
I work in Manhattan- and make no excuses for tardiness- but we've all experienced the NYC subway system (always delays). My appointment was for 4:30. I arrived at the office at 4:38, signed in and sat in the waiting room. At 4:40, Rochelle Lipshutz called me to ask where I was and I explained I was in the waiting room. Well, my ten minutes late turned her into a psycho. She berated me in front of the other nurses. Began to tell me how no one in the office gets paid over-time, and that she felt I was taking advantage of her. This woman met me all of one minute before and she judged me... I would NEVER abuse anyone's time. I do NOT take advantage of anyone. I didn't stroll into her office with a starbucks. I ran out of work and got to her office as quickly as I could. At 8 months pregnant, I have not been treated worse by anyone, let alone a medical professional, who is supposed to deliver my child. I know we all have bad days, but her behavior towards me was absolutely unacceptable!! The nurses were all shocked with their jaws open. I shouldn't have to explain and apologize profusely about ten minutes- which I did. She then began to make lite of the situation by mocking me to someone else in the office. I know we all are busy in this big city and we all have bad days, but the experience I had with her is something I'll never forget (in a terrible way). I would NOT recommend her to anyone. read more
