After 3 years of Holiday Inn dropping service, rude, careless and reducing housekeepers and breakfast standards I went to Best Western. What a blessing. Here it feels comfortable. I'm not feeling like an interruption. Burden. I enjoy room 229. Ever day full housekeeping. Very rare today from the Palazzo to anywhere. Breakfast daily with care. Biscuits and gravy daily and thick gravy, menu daily by the front desk. No hidden agenda. No bait n switch agenda. Today most hotels blame corporate office for the rules. Not here. This place is wonderful. No ghost policies. Every stay full service. Your welcomed, greeted, and asked about your stay daily. If you are busy, they see this and let you be on your way. Not ignored like at HIE. Pools are very nice. Quieter than the HIE off the off ramp into Sterling. Jake brakes all night at HIE, this hotel is faced properly facing and silent. Thick walls. Great water pressure. Soap chips. Towels nice and fluffy. Clean, just clean. Mopping everyday and smells like it. read more

So thankful for the Best Western Team here ! We are road tripping cross country and needed a place to stay with our dog and this place came in clutch ! Ryan at the front desk was amazing and went above and beyond to ensure we checked in seamlessly. We even left the lights on in the car and he called up to let us know. As soon as you check in there is coffee, water, juice, cookies and even some doggy treats. Breakfast was great and the lady who was there was so attentive and always refilling and ensuring everything was clean. I appreciate all the staff here and 10/10 recommend. read more

Check in was super easy, they have 24 hour check in which was nice. Our room was so humid everything was damp and smelled like mildew. Otherwise our room was clean except someone's soap was still in the shower. It wasn't bad overall but I don't think it was worth the price I paid. read more

Love this place so much! Has the best service today 3:30. After getting accommodated last minute and given a bottom floor. Found out our room has a door that leads directly to the pool. Saw the nicest towel with a cute little duck! I am sooo happy I came here and the added duck and folded towel was an amazing touch! We couldn't go on any further on our road trip and our closest stop led us to this hotel. Was quoted a price of $114 with tax, which included breakfast. I was asked if I wanted to sign up for the rewards program and received a bag of snacks when I agreed. Although a great gesture, the snacks were horrible. We were given a second floor room near the stairs. No elevators here. Some brief noise from people lugging up their bags, but piece and quiet after that. The room was clean and beds comfy and included a refrigerator and microwave. Too cold to enjoy the balcony. Bath and body amenities were provided. Breakfast provided was great! The earlier you arrive the better. You'll find egg and sausage sandwiches, ham, potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits, make your own waffles and toast. For the healthy side, oatmeal, fruit, and cereal. For drink options, you'll find, juice, coffee, tea, and Apple cider. Woke up in the morning to see my checkout receipt by the door. Friendly staff and a hard working staff member monitoring the breakfast area. If chance would have it, I'd stay here again. read more

The staff was friendly the rooms were clean only gripe they didn't keep the coffee filled during the day or the hot water for the hot chocolate .We went back quite a few times to try and get coffee and hot chocolate and it was never refilled . Ok, I'm guessing the high prices are due to COVID and supply and demand. We traveled a lot before COVID so we have stayed in a variety of hotels. This is NOT worth $155.00 price tag. It's an old motel with no elevator for 2nd floor. The room seemed clean enough, old noisy air conditioner, it worked at least. I just don't feel super safe here. Not many choices for dinner options either. If the hotel was $80-95 I'd say go for it. Otherwise the holiday in. Across the street looks a lot newer for same price. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean relaxing rooms at value. Complete breakfast. We had business at the county fair grounds and it is easy to access the grounds from here. We are road tripping across the states and basing our overnight stays off of reviews. Originally we were going to stay at the local comfort inn but after seeing the surroundings we decided to come here. We did pay a little more then what we originally planned ( we also had our pet $30 fee not a problem for us) the extra money was totally worth it! The surroundings were very nice they have a little grassy outside area plus some history to walk around and see ( looked like a small town setup with a small museum ). You have access to your room inside and outside for easy pack up. They have two pools that looked nice plus a small fitness center that we used and it did the job! The rooms were very clean and very nice inside! They supply coffee 24-7 upfront plus a popcorn machine! Over all it was a great experience and we would stay here again! read more

We are in the middle of COVID-19 too! 3) floor in room was very wet near door 4) dead bug in bathroom light fixture and long dark hair on toilet tank. 5) left early in morning (7 am) and breakfast choices to go were almost gone. Our first stop was the Ramada because of the $0 pet fee but that was huge mistake (don't go to Ramada - you will regret it!) Stay here - it should be your first choice! Tina at the front desk was SUPERB! After frantically calling them trying to change hotels from Ramada to Best Western- Tina went above and beyond customer service. My husband and I were weary after an 8 hour drive, and to make things even better they gave my Yorkie treats and poop bags! (Nice Touch!) The rooms are SPACIOUS and clean! What a great hotel. We just checked in and already the service has been outstanding! The front desk clerks are really kind and helpful. We were stranded on 76 with a broke down car and they even offered to pick up up! The tow truck driver recommended them too. The room is clean and very nice. It's super spacious and comfortable. 100% would stay here again if I need a room in sterling. read more

I'm in love with this town. I'm traveling with dogs which is not easy and this is the first place I've stayed at that actually has grass for my dogs to romp in. Room was clean, staff friendly. They also have cookies and coffee at the front desk. It's very welcoming. Negatives: my room key only worked intermittently and my dog's sneezed all night long. read more

I have never had to stay at hotel long term. I have stayed in multiple hotels over my life, short term. However, my job has me staying at this hotel for at least 3 months. This hotel feels like the next best thing to home. The staff are all polite, kind, efficient & the hotel is kept very clean! From the indoor pool, to the weight room, the dining room, the lobby & the laundry room. The breakfast layout is amazing & every day the eggs are made differently as well as you have a different meat. There are a number of other breakfast items that usually hold me to dinner. I have NOTHING bad to say about this hotel. read more

We get here tired as part of our long drive to our destination, we booked the place and room prior to arriving, hoping that we can rest better and spend a relaxing time with our 2 kids, as we walked in the room it was a sudden wow as we loved it! disappointment was when we started looking at the beds seemed like it was just tucked in, as always i bring a lysol disinfectant spray and sprayed the whole room but then started seeing a popcorn just by the sofa bed which you can literally just see, thank God my little one did not pick it up, also saw a liquid dropping on top of the coffee table, and a crushed empty can of mt. dew inside the closet on top of the ironing board, i let my wife notify the front desk, she told my wife she will move us to a different room, so we waited to settle, after maybe 15min. we were told that the room is not available anymore and would give us inconvinience of getting someone up our room to clean up again. it is just frustrating how you try to understand what our world's situation is in right now but at the same time, some business that want to stay open only post compliance posters and on how they clean up and disinfect but never really comply or even train or educate there staff on how important there compliance and jobs are, in order to stop the spread, also not doing this to get perks or discount but im hoping that thru this review, top management would look into this and let local management be aware so they tighten up and keep checking on disinfecting and cleaning rooms and also following up on staff, making sure with what's going on right now, cutting corners is not an option, too many people lost jobs, they should be thankful and appreciate they still have it. read more

I stayed here for 7 nights and never had any issues. Renovated and updated throughout the entire hotel. Cleaning staff is very friendly while be efficient and quiet in their duties. Hotel is very pricey because there aren't many options here. The other options are horrendous at that. It was $145 a night when I booked but was able to book an extremely large suite for $155. New furniture, artworks, beds, and television. The first floor has entry to the rooms from the inside and outside. The second floor is only accessible from the inside. No elevator at this location. read more

The room was a good size and felt spacious. They accept pets with a reasonable extra fee. Unfortunately they have pet rooms on the second floor, which is typically not very convenient for people with pets (or for the other hotel guests). There is no elevator, so getting the baggage to the room took forever, since we couldn't use the bell cart. The wireless was TERRIBLE. It was unusable in the room. I could get a decent signal in the lobby, but that is not convenient. After they were unable to fix the wireless problem (while saying they had just upgraded it) they did have an ethernet cable to loan us, but that only gets one computer online. The breakfast selection was good, but the attendant was too busy chatting with another employee about personal matters, and watching a tacky talk show, to keep things stocked unless people interrupted her to ask if there was more. Overall, it wasn't terrible. It was reasonably clean, even if I did end up spending 10 minutes cleaning spilled dog kibble off of the stairs before I could reasonably let my own dogs come in. I assume that some jerk customer spilled and was not only unwilling to clean up after themselves, but couldn't even be bothered to call the front desk and report the mess. It gets about 2.5 stars, but if I was in the area again, I'd be looking for other options, so it gets the round down. I need my wireless internet to work. I wouldn't choose to stay at a place that advertised that they didn't have internet available in the rooms. I also really like the people who work there to work when they are on duty, instead of chatting and watching TV. At the price we paid, it just should have been better. read more

Holy Cow what a great hotel! Love this place. It was plenty close to all the action. We literally walked to the game and didn't have a need for a cab or Uber. Great restaurants all around the hotel. We really enjoyed Old Chicago as it reminds me of the deep dish pizza I love. We danced the night away at Polly Esters and ate a great breakfast the next morning. Such beautiful views it reminded me of California. We are going deep sea fishing today and I can't wait. You can't go wrong at this hotel! read more

We had the best night stay here. We are traveling back home from California to Michigan and stayed the night here to break up the drive. The room was clean, and updated. Lots of pillows! They also had Bath and Body works products for us (thank you by the way) and a bag of delicious chocolate raspberry popcorn. The front desk receptionist was friendly and welcoming. At breakfast they had cheese omelettes but my husband is lactose intolerant; the staff asked if he needed anything and my husband explained he didn't eat cheese, and without asking he came back with scrambled eggs. Very nice hotel, rustic-looking lobby with a fireplace and lots of hardwood. Woman at the front desk was friendly and professional. Our room (202) was right at the top of the stairs. I'm a light sleeper and thought this might be an issue for me, and it wasn't. Slept through the night. The room was clean and comfortable, bathroom likewise. And there was an added bonus: a bag of caramel corn from a local popcorn company and a bottle of water, both free of charge! How nice! Breakfast was hotel-typical, featuring cereal, oatmeal, muffins, yogurt, scrambled eggs, sausage, and do-it-yourself waffles. Coffee was great. The dining area was clean and an employee came through to check on things three times while I was there. Two minor complaints: I wish that there had been more healthy options such as fresh fruit or hard boiled eggs, and also the cereal was quite stale :/ Overall it's a very nice hotel. There are certainly cheaper options around, but I couldn't tell you if they're any better :P read more

Stayed in Sterling on our move across country. This Best Western was beautiful, the staff was super friendly and accommodating, they are pet friendly (with a fee- which they waved for us). They upgraded us to a room with a whirlpool which was amazing after spending days on the road. Free continental breakfast in the morning which was also very good. Rooms on the first floor have an alternate entrance which was great for the dog. They even will properly discard of your recyclables which is cool and super responsible. I have been staying here for a couple months for work. They are very nice and great with any issues you may have. I like the fresh cookies in the afternoon especially when they are extra soft! Breakfast isn't bad either. The breakfast attendant is nice I like her. Everyone at the front desk has also been great! I do find it strange they ask for tips for the housekeeping. I have never seen that before. I have had certain ones move the tip envelope onto my personal items as a hint hint?? I have stayed in all types of rooms and like the ones with the outside doors the best! It's nice to access your vehicle and get some fresh air flow! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the Best Western Sundowner Motel. Sterling is a very small town, so there aren't a lot of choices on where to stay if you need a hotel/motel. However, after my experience, I would definitely stay here again. I was born and raised in Sterling, so naturally, I made my California-based husband (fiance at the time) marry me in Sterling. :) We chose the Best Western Sundowner for our wedding night stay and were upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi tub for free. The hotel is pretty regular (yet comfortable) besides that, but I thought it was a super nice gesture. The hotel also has a pool, a decent continental breakfast (with yummy English muffin sandwiches), and good parking, so that was also great. Out of all the places to stay in Sterling, I would recommended the Best Western Sundowner Motel over everything else. read more

This started off as a marginal experience and ended the same way. The door opener and internet connection didn't work. The attendant came immediately to get both fixed but still not what's acceptable. Problems continued with an air conditioner sounded like a jet plane and the many small black bugs in the room were certainly not positive. Best Western could definitely do better by working with this property owner to improve the quality of this motel. If we come through Sterling again, we won't be staying here. read more

This is my 13th week in a row staying at this motel. I've never used the pool, never used the workout room and only 3 times have I taken advantage of the breakfast. Here's what I like: The various rooms I've been in are always furnished well and in great condition. The wifi has worked very well except one evening. I've streamed Netflix with very few problems. The breakfast is fine but the scrambled eggs are incredibly devoid of flavor. I love the cookies at the reservation desk. I like the rooms that have the extra entry to the parking lot. Easy in and out. Here's the one major complaint which is making me want to try a different motel: The noise of people in the hallway talking and the solid room doors when closing vibrate most awfully right into the pillows. This is not a quiet place. I've noticed that this noise is usually near the rooms up front. I've only stayed upstairs once so I can't give much of an opinion of that. There are balconies upstairs (not sure if all upstairs rooms have them). The other slight issue is they say they can't assign a room until you check in. You should be able to request and be confident to reserve a room. read more
