While attending a concert in New Orleans (30 minute drive away) I chose to stay here because I had a free night. I had a pleasant stay. The room was clean and spacious and the bed was comfy. Shower pressure was great and I liked that the remote was apparently sanitized and put in a little cloth bag. I read somewhere that the remote control in hotel rooms have the most germs-so this was a touch I appreciated. I didn't try the breakfast but they do offer a free one. Other points to note-the pool is outdoors so in bad or cold weather you're out of luck if you wanted to take a dip. The parking lot is quite tight but manageable. There are many food options within walking distance. All in all a decent hotel. Not a luxury hotel, but it's not a dive either. read more

It's the first time I've stayed here although I pass through about 4 times a year. Check-in was easy and she was informative. She was helpful about a restaurant within walking distance. The room was clean and nice. The fitness room needs a bigger sign - and some more equipment (therefore a large space). I was told breakfast would be at 6:30 but was open at 6. This is a rather average hotel with three significant negatives. The first negative is they process your credit card twice once for the room charge and the second time for the $100 damage deposit. They credit back the credit deposit once you check out, I don't like them having to process the card twice. The second negative is the very short breakfast serving time, 630 to 8:30 AM; every other Best Western I have stayed at gives you at least until 9 AM. The third negative is the very basic breakfast that they serve. It does have eggs and sausage, but the egg is a little omelette cut in half and the sausage is little balls the size of peas. They do have a waffle maker, which is nice but a limited selection of the tiniest muffins I have seen and not many bread choices. No pastry items as a continental breakfast. They do have a yogurt and packaged tangerine slices. They have coffee out in the lobby, but no decaf coffee. All in all one of the most limited breakfast I've seen at a Best Western. when you enter the hotel, you are in a medium size lobby with the breakfast room at the far end It is a two story hotel with an elevator. The room itself is decent size. The bathroom has a shower tub combination. The room has one wall outlet and two outlets on a light so you can only have three things charging at a time. The building itself was in good condition and the room did not have any condition issues. Based on the facilities, I would return, but based upon the negatives, I would look around for some other option if I was in the area again. read more

It took a while but after I posted my review on here I was contacted by Mrs.Candace and she said that she was the new manager and had just started working there 2days ago she knew what employee I was talking about & promised that she was no longer working @ Best Western. I also sent her all my photos and she said that big changes were coming. She apologized many times and asked that I give her 6 months and then come stay again. We stayed here for one night, we asked for a 2 bed none smoking room. She gave us a room, on the first floor, because she was afraid my grandson would jump on the bed and disturb the other guests. At first the room smelled ok, but during the night I smelled constantly cigarette smoke, which got me the whole night nauseated, my eyes were burning, my throat were burning, and severe headaches. I stayed in a lot of Best Western, but never had such bad experience. read more

En route to New Orleans for work, my coworker and I stopped in Slidell so we could stay just outside of the city for convenience. I was excited when I was told there was a pool on the phone and that the room was going to be under $100.00 with AAA discount for a double room. The lobby was basically as to be expected, decorated with Home Goods like décor and staffed by a chipper young lady. The entry to the pool was off the side. Allegedly somewhere there is a fitness center. Our room was smaller than I hoped, and awkwardly had the sink portion of the bathroom in the hallway right by the door. What made it worse is that the sink didn't have cold water--though there was plenty of hot and hotter. The water pressure in the bathroom was also average at best. And the lay out of the room was awkward. The television was in front of one bed, with a coffee table next to it and then a minifridge and microwave combo in an open faced cupboard. The bed had four small square pillows--I really hate odd sized pillows for sleeping. The pool was on the small side and only got to 4 feet deep. I did take a quick dip in what was rather warm water and then read sitting on a chaise for an hour or so. I wish the room had a more powerful air conditioner. Maybe I'm just not made for the South? I wonder if the other hotels down the street have cold water? I would reconsider staying here again, or at least make sure I check the water situation out before settling. read more

Not too shabby of a hotel for the price. My boyfriend was on a business trip and they booked him this hotel. I got to tag along and it wasn't bad for a free room! Room was clean, and they had a microwave and fridge in the room which is rare. The only complaint I have is that the bathroom is small and the driveway/parking lot is very tight. I like space and especially with big trucks coming in and out of the area, it'll be nice to have room to move your car without feeling like the trucks are close to you or won't hit you when they back up. Middle of the road hotel. But serves its purpose. Tight parking lot too. Stayed one night for a wedding in town and left early the next morning. The elevator smelled like cigarettes but that was rectified by morning or at least masked by the bacon Downstairs. Not the nicest place in the world, but a good quiet night sleep on a comfortable bed. read more

I stayed here because I had a meeting at Stennis Space Center and there are no hotels near Stennis. This Best Western is hard to find because it's off the main road (turn after the McDonalds to get to Taos St). The rooms are quite large with a couch, microwaves, and fridge. The shower and toilet are separate from the sink which is nice. The bed and pillows are very comfortable which is always the most important thing. The continental breakfast is decent - waffles, bagels, muffins, etc. The only downside was that the air conditioner was a little too noisy. Make sure to check out Copelands of New Orleans for dinner which is less than 5 min away on Gause Blvd. read more

This place is great. Rooms are big and spacious you have a lot of room in between each other and the walls. Like most others I would say that the only complaint is the parking lot is small and it only has one entrance but that's not to bad. It's is nice to have a jointing room, plus a frig and microwave. The room was nice, the staff at check in was friendly, the maid service cleaned our room daily and the breakfast was pretty good. Very clean and well decorated rooms. They seemed a bit behind as rooms were still being cleaned at 5pm but ours were ready. Had 2 rooms connecting and the a/c was a bit slow to get going but did after 5 min. Upon arriving was greeted with one of the friendliest staff members I have encountered. Small but clean pool area. The workout room os a joke but there are washers and driers right at the end of the hall plainly visable to use easily (not sure why the other post said they don't have it). Had fresh cookies made for our kids and gave us coupons for going to Fox oyster bar (highly recommend) without asking. One of the better BW's we have stayed. It is a bit smaller than you would think but who cares. Microwave, fridge, and safe in the room. One weird thing is an old fashion phone right next ro the toliet. Very convenient to gas, food, and needs like walgreens. Price is good too. read more

I don't give a rats ass if you are in the middle of your night audit. How can you not check in a guest to a room? I'm a diamond elite member with Best Western, and have NEVER had this issue before. There was not even the suggestion of "Let me get you a room, I'll take copies of everything, and you can sign the receipt in the morning." This hotel is average. It's clean, but not worth the rate they charge. I paid $130 for one night, was only provided 2 towels in our room and when my husband went down to ask for an additional bath towel for our daughter he was given a hand towel. I then went down to specify incase he hadn't said "bath" towel, and I too was handed a hand towel. When I told the attendant I needed a regular size towel for my child to dry off with, he smirked and told me that currently all they had available was this size but that he could give me a few of them. I find it ridiculous for a hotel not to have all types of linens available at any time of day for its guests upon request. Other than that, our stay was okay. I unintentionally made a costly mistake when booking this hotel. The friend I was to visit in Slidell lost her job, and moved to La Place, LA, so I booked another Best Western there (one with a $110 last minute cancellation fee) and cancelled the one in Slidell. What I had failed to notice was that the booking said non-refundable and they meant it. So, for an advanced purchase saving (very small amount- I think about $36) it ended up costing me $404 for nothing. No credit for another stay, no partial refund, not even the opportunity to re-book the room. I am a 75 year old retired teacher on a fixed income, so for me this seemed a punitive amount since I had made the cancellation a good month before my intended visit which was to have been 9/17/15-9/21/15. 3 calls to the hotel on my behalf by Orbitz yielded nothing. A call to Best Western customer service got me nowhere. They said to contact Orbitz again, but Orbitz had told me that it was entirely the hotel's decision. So, I summed up all the information about my situation, and emailed it to Ms. Lauren (who was the decision maker at the hotel) on the hotel's web site email address and received no reply. After 3 days I called the hotel and got a different email address (guestservice@bwslidell.com) and sent the email to Ms. Lauren again. After 3 days, no reply. So, I emailed the General Manager, Martin Patel, and after 4 days, no reply. At the least, they could have had the courtesy to reply. This hotel says that it promises the best in service and quality. I certainly did not get the best service, and I cannot speak on the quality, since I will never stay there. read more

Pass it up. Ok if you have to spend little money. But probably isn't worth it. Arrived at front desk and no one was there. She was in the breakfast area sitting at table watching tv on her phone. They gave my husband and I a handicap room(which we did not request.) The second night of our stay I went to front desk to ask for something. As I was down there, an 82yo woman was upset with front desk because the handicap room was not available and she had requested it. I immediately told the front desk that we were in it and if they need to move us they can. The customer was in a wheelchair. The front desk clerk said if we don't mind, she would move us to a different room. We packed our belongings back up and went to get out new bedroom keys. She gave us a king suite and said she won't charge us for the upgrade. I wanted to chuckle because we didn't ask for an upgrade just a different room to help her out--but she did have a long night and was working with an upset customer (which she was professional and patient) so I didn't think much more about it. A knock on doors at 9pm surprised me when I found out it was housekeeping. Wasn't an awful experience but a few more things here and there occurred that solidified that we won't be return customers. read more

This BW has no laundry facility, no hot cocoa packets, must use frozen breakfast foods (I.e., pre-fried sunny side up, peeled hard boiled & scrambled eggs), bacon, sausage, biscuits and country gravy. Oatmeal was so watered down it should have been called soup. OJ was also very diluted.... Maybe wrong proportions of water? Also, non-smoking rooms reeked of smoke. Yuck. read more

I tried to call front desk for an hour and 15 minutes about the noise level in the lobby (right outside our room) from 11pm-12:15am with no answer. (A member of the loud group in the lobby did answer the phone at one point because the ringing phone was bothering their party in the lobby and told me no one was at the desk.) Finally received an answer at 12:15am by a staff member who had just arrived to work and was told she would be calling the police to handle the situation with the noisy people in the lobby. The people did leave at that point. My concern is not only my family not being able to sleep due to the noise level but lack of the presence of a staff member for over an hour. A manager I spoke with offered to refund $7 of our stay and hung up on me when I told him I didn't believe that was an adequate refund given the situation and that no one was at the hotel to handle the situation while it was going on. He then tried to tell me that he was there at that time and never heard the phone ring which was a total lie because I called the front desk every 10-15 minutes from 11pm until I received an answer at 12:15am. When I questioned him about changing his story from what he told me at check out yesterday, he said he was mistaken about the time he was at the hotel because the clock on his phone was set wrong. I do not know who was supposed to be on staff between 11pm and midnight, but I believe he is making things up to cover for himself or another employee who was supposed to be on a duty. At this point I do not know which I am more upset about, being woken up and having no one there to handle the problem or the lying manager who is giving me the run around and says he can only refund $7 and some change as compensation. I fully expected at least a 50% refund of our stay but now would like a 100% refund due to the way the manager has lied and refuses to refund more than $7. read more

This was a really good hotel. Slidell apparently is a traveling hub because hotels are always packed and we stumbled upon this place after two other hotels were completely full. The room had a pleasant look and feel to it. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The room comes with a fridge, a tiny freezer, a microwave, and plenty of table space. kudos to this best western. read more
