After having received two cortisone injections for lower back trouble, I was seemingly on the brink…read moreof full-blown back surgery. Because I'm stubborn and don't want to have a dang surgery, I sought other treatments, including Chiropractic, physical therapy and myofascial release. Physical therapy jacked me up even more, while chiropractic enhanced the myofascial release treatment. In fact, I would go so far as to say the myofascial release single-handedly kept me from back surgery. Myofascial release is the release of the fascia that connects our whole entire bodies. And when fascia is bound up, it inhibits the mechanics of our muscles and skeletal frame. My skeletal frame was out of whack because of all the muscles that were pulling here and there and everywhere--because my fascia was all bound up! Now, my first appointment with Celia McDermott seemed strange. I've had many massages and myofascial release is not like your typical rubbing/pressure techniques. In fact, sometimes I just felt like her movements were too light, or that she'd just press her hand in a spot. But the weird thing is, she'd press lightly with her hand for several minutes and all the muscles in that area would just start melting and easing up. It was incredible. And then, after the session, over the next few days, other muscles would release and even my joints and back would shift and feel better. It was amazing. Now, regarding my back trouble. Because I was in such bad shape, I had to see Celia three times a week for about six weeks. Then I went down to two times a week, then every week, then every other week, and now I see her sporadically--BECAUSE SHE FIXED ME! lol But really, if you're having back trouble. Take the time and the money to see Celia and live pain-free! I really can't say enough about Celia McDermott and myofascial release. The first session or two may seem different to you because it's a different approach to tissue/muscle therapy. But stick with it and give in to the method. It works. I'm an upright, walking example!

I cannot say enough good things about Fusion PT and Barbara, specifically. I've suffered from…read morechronic lower back pain due to disc bulges. I've done physical therapy elsewhere, seen many doctors and suffered through a pricey injection in my lower back, without much improvement. Desperate to try something new to get some relief from the pain that radiated out of my lower back every day and woke me up most nights, I researched dry needling, and a lot of positive reviews led me to Fusion. Scheduling was easy; there's tons of parking and the space is cheerful and buzzing with activity. A lot of great people work at Fusion, and they're providing great service to people of all ages with all types of physical issues. I provided my history and MRI results to Barbara, and she got right to work. She asked a lot of great questions to help me articulate my pain and what exacerbates it the most. She observed how I navigated standing, sitting, twisting and bending movements that I didn't realize were affected by my back issues. She felt across my back and immediately identified tight areas and opportunities to increase my strength and mobility and reduce pain. It was extremely interesting and encouraging to witness her expertise at work. I got her one-on-one focused attention at every visit, and she continually provided solutions that worked for me - from exercises that improved my core strength to modifications I can make to my standing posture and movements that will help with pain that wakes me up in the middle of the night. Dry needling was fascinating. Barbara identified areas on back - different areas each time depending on my pain level and mobility on that day - and positioned the needles to trigger positive responses in my muscles. It was uncomfortable at times, but I quickly noticed improvement. Coupled with the activities and movements she prescribed to me throughout my therapy sessions, I am feeling better physically, and I am - for the first time in a while - optimistic for a future without constant pain. I continue to work the program Barbara gave me and apply the techniques she taught me to reduce my pain and improve my overall quality of life. I love Fusion and recommend it to anyone navigating a tough physical issue.
