We hired Best Event for the rentals at our wedding this August and were very disappointed with both the quality of the rentals and our service. We live in California but met while attending PSU which is why we decided to be married in the State College area. I flew out to Pennsylvania to plan my wedding and spent hours in the Best Event showroom choosing which items to rent. Two days before the wedding when the rentals were delivered to the site, we found that they had switched items on us. They chairs that we rented were wooden, but the ones that were delivered were plastic and said "Best Event Rental" on the backs. The bar we had rented was wooden, but the one they delivered was black like a guitar amplifier and looked like it belonged in a nightclub. When I called to tell them that they had sent the wrong items, the manager was not apologetic at all, and in fact, said that "most customers would consider these changes upgrades." After several phone calls and many tears on my part, they came and picked up their ugly black bar (we used a table instead) and ended up comping the chairs. While we were happy to not have to pay for the items, we felt that Best Event rental was dishonest with us. Substitutions should never be made to a contract when the customer has spent hours selecting items from their showroom. On top of that, they should have been more sensitive to the fact that we were having a wedding, a very important day in our lives, and that it was not just another order to fill. If you are planning a wedding or another event and want to be sure that you get what you select, and that you will not suffer from additional stress two days before your event I would NOT recommend using Best Event Rental. read more

We've rented chairs, tents and tables in various combinations. Very efficient group of people. For my Saturday function they put up the tents on Wednesday. They didn't charge anything more. Also, I asked for a larger stage and they brought that later and added it to what they had already put up. I would heartily recommend them. read more

Super friendly staff and THE ONLY establishment in State College that refills Co2 cylinders. You can drive a bit out of town for replacement cylinders, but not refills. Great party store! read more

I have been to Best Event to rent items for several small events at my home and was always treated as if I were a friend of the family. So when I needed help with arrangements for a larger event I felt I could trust them to deliver and I wasn't disappointed. My sister passed away from Leukemia and I let her fiancé choose the venue for her memorial service: a park her daughters spent time at when they were younger. The owner and staff couldn't have been more helpful. They secured the permits; setup tents, tables, chairs, a podium, audio-visual equipment, table cloths and chaffing dishes... everything we needed to turn the park into an outdoor social hall; then they came in afterward and cleaned up. WORST RENTAL COMPANY EVER! We've been going to them for years and years to rent things for our company picnic and have only had minor issues. This year we ordered out items, and they called us back a day before our picnic and said that if we wanted what we ordered it was going to cost us double their original price. Apparently THEY made a mistake and quoted us the wrong rate and had just realized it. They said we could pay the same and get a much lesser product, and unfortunately we are a small company with budget constraints and we were not able to pay the extra. The woman on the phone was UNBELIEVABLY RUDE about it and when I pointed out that this was their fault, so why are they punishing me, her response was "yes it is my fauly, but you still need to pay the extra". I'm sorry, but if a company makes a mistake it is their responsibility to make it right, not call the customer and tell them to pay! If this is how they work, imagine them calling the day before your wedding and telling you that if you want what you ordered, you'll have to pay double. read more

We used Best Event for a tent for our rehersal dinner and brunch and for decorations for the reception. Two days before the wedding, we added some decorative items and they substituted another item because they didn't have time to get them before our delivery. They left a message saying they could get what we originally ordered the next day if the substitution wasn't ok. I called back the next morning to ask if we could have the original item and they delivered it to the reception hall when we decorating. It was so nice having them set up and take down the tent in our back yard! read more
