Harrison's catered a local event I recently attended and I was really excited because I do like…read moreeating at the restaurant. The catering fell way short of my expectations. The salad was unimaginative and very plain. I did not (nor did my fellow guests) like the vinaigrette that was served on the side. Most of the items were typical mass manufactured previously frozen appetizers, like spanokopita, among other things. There was a tray of the egg rolls they brag about. Maybe popping something in the oven and dressing the plate up at the restaurant works for these items. But to make a bunch of them and transport in a hotel pan, left many of them soggy and there really is no way to dress that up. They served a large amount of quinoa salad. But the grains we're not rinsed enough and would have benefited from more heat. There's a very bitter taste that needs to be washed off the grains and they were simply undercooked. Then, lastly, I recognized the bread. That is one of the only complaints I have in their restaurant. It is way too pale and doughy. If it was refreshed and browned in the oven, it would be exponentially better.

I've never seen a charcuterie table with as many options before. The BBQ was really good at the main dinner time as well. Most places can't pull off the quality of the food for a bulk event like they did.

When you first walk in, the atmosphere is just perfect and you just want to walk around and look at all of the beautiful and interesting artwork (and the pastry case!). The menu items for July/August are so enticing that it's almost impossible to pick but we ended up getting the tomato tart (one of our favorite bites of the night), the zucchini fritters and caprese gnocchi soup to start. For our main course we selected the lemon ricotta pasta, the chimichurri steak tips and the sea bass skewers (you don't see sea bass on menus often and this one shouldn't be missed- it's incredible) . We were all so happy with all of our delicious meals (I even took bread to get every bite on my sea bass entree). We were shocked when we saw our check- surely they had missed an item or two- it was such a low price. What a bargain. I'm not a great photographer but enjoy some pictures from our evening. I gave her a final head count of 30 and when she delivered she told me she gave us enough for 70 just in case. I believe it because we had a ton left over to take home and enjoy with our kids and probably for the rest of the month. We used our two tailgating grills to warm everything up and put in catering pans that I previously purchased. To say that everyone loved the food is an understatement. Everything was absolutely amazing!!! The ribs were out of this world!!! I am so happy I found her and she is my go to for PSU games from this point forward!! Thanks Deb and staff!! If you walk away from these guys and are still hungry, there's something wrong with you! I've never had anything bad here- the food is excellent and the portions are HUGE! Burgers, Strombolis, sandwiches, sides, all of it is cooked to order, great quality. Their prices are really reasonable as well. Honestly it's actually worth the drive to Williamsburg even if you're an out-of-towner looking for a good place to eat. It's just a very laid back place, lots of sports memorabilia, BYOB. The staff is always friendly, courteous and fast. The truck obviously can't offer quite as much as the restaurant, but what they do have is really good. They usually post on their Facebook page so you know where the truck will be during a given week. These folks really take pride in what they do, and the results show. When they say you'll leave with your belly busted, they mean it!

We walked in expecting a typical dining experience with a menu but found out things had changed…read moredramatically. Our hostess, who we later found out was the owner, explained to us that if we wanted food, we could order it from outside where there was a traveling chef with a pizza oven. This was a big change from the usual menu and what we had expected. We decided to go with the flow, take a seat at the Ouija board table, place our drink orders, and go outside to order food. This week the chef had a woodfired pizza oven. Keep in mind, cider is the focus here. So, my husband's old fashioned was made with cider. Hearing this, I asked for my cider on the side rather than in my cosmo. We learned that the owner's background is movie set design and that she worked on movies like Harry Potter, so the decor was a combination of old industrial plant and haunted house. The bar had "potions" with smoke oozing out. There were also skeletons and skulls throughout the restaurant along with spooky photos that changed from normal to scary. She even allowed us to explore the different back rooms one of which she called the "swamp room." The pizza was good, and we enjoyed listening to the live music which wasn't overwhelmingly loud. Overall, everyone was kind and made us feel welcome. We later ordered the blueberry cobbler for dessert which was warm and tasty.

For an area with slim vegan pickings, this felt like a gold mine. We ended up trying a few menu items and they were all delicious and tasted quite fresh. My biggest gripe was that the risotto was made with a medium grain rice rather than a traditional Arborio, and that the prices for food were on the higher end given the portion sizes. The cider flight was delicious. There is plenty of seating, include extensive outdoor seating that looks out to the forests surrounding. Indoors is filled with spooky, eclectic industrial decor. The staff were friendly and thoughtful. It's a gem of a spot!

I really liked the décor and overall vibe, both inside and outside. It's a great setting and well worth seeking out. A friend and I spent an afternoon checking out a few local distilleries and breweries, and Big Spring Spirits really stood out. We did a spirits flight, and while everything was well done, the straight rye whiskey was easily my favorite. It was surprisingly busy for a weekday afternoon, but the staff never missed a beat. Everyone was moving, clearly enjoying what they do, and they were happy to answer questions and talk through the spirits without making it feel rushed. I ended up buying a bottle of the rye to bring back home to California. I also just found out they've opened a tasting room in State College, which means it's officially on my list for the next time I'm back in PA.
