I recently visited Best Buy for a scheduled appt that was set up by Best Buy after the phone support was not able to resolve an issue I had with my smart phone. The experience was incredibly disappointing. despite explaining the problem in detail, the Geek Squad staff did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. It felt like they were either unprepared or uninterested in helping. They didn't offer any meaningful troubleshooting or solutions, and I left the store with the same problem I walked in with. For a service that's supposed to provide expert tech support, this was a complete letdown. Yes it was for a smart phone I purchased from Best Buy. read more

I called Best buy in lafayette to find out if they had mid grade stereo receivers that I could listen to. I was transferred to an indian call center. They told me that the store had brands such as Onkyo and Yamaha. After I drove an hour, they did not. They had only receivers over $1600 in the listening booth. They did not have those brands at all in the store. The "home stereo expert" could not answer questions as simple as which one is more reliable or sounds better. He texted his friends instead. He told me that he could have one the next day at a store that was 1.5 hrs away. It is a wonder why brick and mortar stores are fading away. I love Best Buy. Everything I buy is from there and the total tech is awesome. But, today I had an awful experience with a very rude salesperson named Cat. I could not understand why when I was trying to return a laptop cover it would change my price of laptop up $117. I keep asking questions and she was getting very aggravated. I said so you are forcing me to keep the cover that I paid $49 for or pay $117 more for the laptop I already purchased. She answered very rudely "i aint forcing you to do nothing that is just how it will be". I asked to speak with another manger and she got me Lisa. Lisa was so understanding and took the time to explain what was happening and what my options were. She took time to look at what was happening and in the end it worked out. I don't know what Cat's position is but she does not need to be dealing with people. Then Lisa introduced us to Ava to help with an iPhone. Ava was so professional and polite that I will continue to do service with her. Just ask for Lisa or Ava when you go and you should get good service. I am giving a one star because of my interaction with Cat but need a five star for my interaction with Lisa and Ava. read more

My family and I have used the Lafayette Best Buy store for many years making numerous purchases totaling thousands of dollars. With that in mind, I was not expecting the service I recently received from the Best Buy manager while attempting to return and upgrade a camera zoom lense. Basically, Best Buy's policy is to withhold 15% of the purchase price on certain returned items for "restocking". We'll Best Buy, I had to wait nearly 10 days for my item to arrive and when my wife and I went to the store, we were willing to pay yet more money for a higher spec lense which wasn't available. Why oh why does Best Buy feel they can command such exuberant fees for returning unused goods?? Im done with Best Buy in Lafayette and so have my family. So people reading this: be VERY wary of what you buy from these corporations as the consumer is not in their best thoughts obviously! read more

My family and I have been customers of Best Buy in Lafayette for over 20 years. We have bought computers, tvs, cameras, etc from Best Buy. I finally got my husband to try an Apple iPhone. We decided to try Best Buy instead of the ATT store. I ordered a phone, Apple iPhone 15 Pro, the same day my husband did. My husband ordered the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. We paid in full for both phones. About a week after ordering it, my phone arrived at Best Buy. I was not required to pre-activate my phone. All that was done in the store when I picked it up. At some point in time, around the promised time the phone was supposed to come in, my husband gets emails and phone calls from Best Buy telling him he must "pre-activate" his phone and they want his passcode for our carrier and other private information. He told them no that he would not do that because he did not have any information whether or not his phone was in and he was not going to give them his private information. He said he would be happy to do that when he picks up his phone in the store and that he had no idea when it was coming in. He thought it was a scam. I called Best Buy and told the gentleman who answered what happened and he said it was probably a scam because Best Buy doesn't do that. The next day, my husband continues getting the calls and the emails. I called Best Buy, and I also told them I was not required to pre-activate my phone why was my husband being asked to pre-activate. They would not answer me they just kept telling me if he did not pre-activate the phone, it would be "sent back". I kept asking and they kept telling me the same thing. The next thing we know we are told his order is canceled because he would not pre-activate. So, my husband and I went to Best Buy, which is in another town. We told the gentleman who greeted us at the door what was going on and we showed him our receipt. I showed him the emails. He walked to the cash register and looked up our order. He told us to follow him to the area where you receive what you ordered. He handed our receipts to a gentleman and told him to find our phone. He pointed to a woman who was behind the desk. He said she was the one we needed to speak to. We told her what was going on. She said that the info was correct we had to pre-activate the phone. I told her we didn't do that with the phone I ordered and that we were not giving out personal information over the phone and that we don't even know if our phone is in. I asked her why he couldn't activate it when he picked it up like I did. She could not give me a straight answer. She told us our order was cancelled and that a phone came in earlier that day and that they sold it. I told her I needed closure to understand why this was happening. She told me there was no closure. We were never told the phone had come in. We had paid in full. We trusted Best Buy. That was a mistake. read more

I bought a Samsung S21 Ultra phone here ($1200) plus protecton plan ($220). The screen was cracked and I brought it to this store as I was driving THROUGH THIS STATE. I DON'T LIVE HERE! I found out BB just asks for a replacement phone (which is a previously broken/refurbished older phone) to be shipped to my home address. So I had to rent a PO box to get the new phone, BECAUSE I DON'T LIVE HERE. I wait. New phone comes and it is broken. Also has previous owner's info on it. SIM card tray is broken. 2nd request for replacement is made - but the next day that 2nd request is cancelled by someone but store can't say who did it. I waited another 5 days for the 2nd replacement and finally started calling corporate numbers myself to find it. This is when they tell me there is no open service order. And corporate tells me to go back to the clueless store people to work the issue. At the store today they tell me they will requrest another phone for the 3rd time.... and hope it works. Because they can't call anyone on the other end of the process to work this issue and get a phone sent immediately.... In the mean time, I have waited over a week and I lost out on a job in FL which cost me 2,700 in lost income. Now i wait for 3rd time. Can't leave this city till l get a working phone. Store refuses to give me a working phone out of their inventory also. I esculated through 4 levels of management and GM could care less. He walked away during the argument. If you buy product, ask a lot of questions before you buy a protection plan on it. Like how will it be repaired, by who, and what product will you get after the repair. My phone is only 3 months old, and the replacements they are sending me are older versions than the one I have. It cost $200 to replace the phone, plus 220 on plan, and i will have a crappy refurb phone at the end. And I will probably have to buy the phone from Verizon tomorrow to continue my job because BB can't perform on the protection plan. Buyer beware. read more

This rating is for the warranty service through Geek Squad. I have an LG ice maker that went out on December 19, 2018. As of January 30, 2019 it is not working. I have had multiple appointments scheduled that the repair person did not show up. When they finally did repair it, it stop working 2-3 hours later. Geek Squad and the repair company blame each other for the three no show appointments. Now, I have to wait at least another week to get another repair company to come out. Lastly, I never received any updates about the repair from Geek Squad. I was told that I had to contact then for information. Will definitely not buy another warranty from Best Buy. read more

I am a Best Buy Elite and have been for as many years as I think they have had the program. This basically means you get a rewards card and maybe a slightly better return policy. When there was another large appliance store chain which had commission salespeople I alway favored the more laid back Best Buy approach. However, over the years it seems like they want to push their Warranty programs, computer virus software, etc which is pretty much what Every other appliance store is doing too. My most recent visit was to replace a 2 year old LG flatscreen that died. I could blame Best Buy for selling it to me but the fact is the appliances are built to be disposable and just don't last like they did 30 years ago when things were built to last "a lifetime". So while I'm not happy with the TV dying I will just never purchase another LG product after the stupid answers I received from the LG customer service. So. With all that said, the associates here are nice and helpful and on occasion maybe a little too helpful by checking on you every 2 minutes. But they do have a good selection, good delivery services and the prices are hard to beat. Enjoy! read more

The worst..... I set up an appointment online as you are required to do because of this Covid 19 issue. I filled out ALL of the information required and set up an appointment, even got text and emails confirming the appointment, including a confirmation number. 2 hours before the appointment I got a call, they did not leave a message, so I called them back. Once I finally got through to the right department they tell me....oh what you need is a Geek Squad appointment and that's not what you have. And by the way we can't get you an appointment until next week. Regardless of the fact that I scheduled the appointment online as required, they seem to have the mindset that they can just tell you oh well sorry. Terrible Service. Absolutely horrible service! I had an amp and speaker installed in my car and they tied into my bcm for something and my radio, back up camera, ac/heater everything STOPPED working! Brought it back to Best Buy and they tried to tell me I had standing water in my floor board which I didn't. I have NEVER had an issue with my radio and everything else until I allowed them to hook up everything up. Guy was VERY rude and tried to say I was an idiot and didn't know what I was talking about. Mind you my husband is a mechanic. He undid all of their wiring and put everything back the way it was before and most of my stuff is working again. Still have no ac/or heater. They were all higher than what we wanted. I explained we recently bought a simple projector for $79 and it did everything. He said " well why don't you use that one then"? Had a great experience at this Best Buy last night. We didn't stand in line for all the black Friday craziness. We arrived at about 8:15PM after the crowds died down. We were looking for a laptop for our son for Christmas. We found an open box online that we wanted and it showed in stock. We asked one of the female associates where the open box laptops were and she stated they had none. We then pulled up on the internet the one we found online and asked Islam (I think that was his name) to look and see if they have it in the back. He was more than helpful. He went to a BB computer and looked it up. It showed the open box was in stock and they had one from black Friday for $299 in stock. Another associate that was tall repeatedly said "We don't have it" "we don't have it" I asked Islam to please go check. He went back there and I waited by the entrance. Well you can guess what happened next. Islam came out from the back with a laptop in his hand. He found one last black Friday laptop at $299. I could have just hugged the guy I was so excited. Not only did we have to miss the crowds but we got a new Dell laptop for cheaper than the open box one we originally wanted. We bought a few other things and checked out very quickly. The only downside is there was a guy in the computer department named Will and he was a taskmaster..... I asked him a simple question and he yelled at someone else to come over and help me. It's not like I was asking him for a demonstration on a desktop or anything. He was a little high strung for my taste. PROS: CONVENIENCE: Best Buy is good only in a matter of convenience. My graphics card went out one day and I needed a quick fix. The only place in town that had a decent enough graphics card to satisfy my immediate needs was Best Buy. SELECTION: They have a pretty fair selection, but nothing compared to buying online. CONS: PRICE: Regardless of their fair selection of items, I find Best Buy is typically higher in price for almost any item compared to any other retailer. BEST BUY CREDIT CARDS: I opened a Best Buy credit card when I bought a laptop a while back. After I had paid it off, I wanted to close my account. They said I couldn't do that. I was appauled! As if that wasn't enough, I also found out that I had TWO accounts -- the one I had opened and another one that I never approved of and with a different account number. After some research, I found that others had the same issue, and it looks like they create this account so that if you reach your limit, the credit will go to the other account... What crooks! These accounts could not be closed through Best Buy. I had to contact my bank and the card company. GEEK SQUAD: I have friends and coworkers who have worked at this particular Best Buy and can affirm these suspicions. Best Buy will always try to up sell ordinary people into financial oblivion. My grandfather brought in his personal computer in because he wanted to be able to open up word documents. All he needed was a basic edition of Microsoft Word. It was a brand new computer, never hooked up to the internet and they told him he had a virus. They took it in for 3 days and "removed" the "virus". They charged him $200 and convinced him to buy a high-end virus protection and subscription, on top of Microsoft Word and the fee to install it. ------------------ They lose two stars because their Geek Squad is so insulting and scammy. read more

I walk in needing several high dollar items and I have to find Kaleb, the manager and ask him to ask any of the 6 people I walked to and asked for the manager to come and assist me in finding what I needed. He apologized for Demarcus and crew for their poor service. I went back to the only person working in the area and she asked if she could help me since she was now free from the couple she was assisting when I approached said sea of blue shirts. Mariam was very helpful and again apologetic for her coworkers. I encouraged her to not apologize for other people. Continue to be herself but don't excuse poor service and job performance. The local store manager, KELLY, Does Not Care & BRAD, the MANAGER of appliances cares even LESS of the Quality of your products sold. We have REQUESTED the REGIONAL store manager's name & contact, but Lafayette BB REFUSED to give us this information. BRAD DEMANDED we "Come into his store to 'Discuss' this matter", which is OBSURD! This makes the THIRD visit to our home & YET to have a Functioning dishwasher, now going on Over a MONTH! The Lafayette BB says "there's nobody higher than them". I'm filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, YELP, & ANY other social media to Ensure the public knows just what Type of company You run... I've taken pictures of Each BROKEN washer which I will publish publicly. Ironic this Most recent BROKEN dishwasher was "GUARANTEED" New & in the Box, had the EXACT damage to door along with EXTREME damage to primary parts. I purchased a hardcover for my new laptop ( which I had just ordered from BB. The laptop came in but the hard case did not! Salesperson failed to order the item but had no problem charging me for the item. After contacting customer service , I was told to just go back to the store with my receipt. So I did and guess what , the Lafayette store manager treated me like I was a thief! The item I didn't receive was a $50. Item on a receipt where I spent 3360. . They insulted my intelligence by offering me a 10% discount on the very item I had already paid for ! In the last 2 years , my husband and I have spent over 10k in that store and our bill has been paid in full! I WAS in the market for a new dishwasher - however- I went to an appliance store in Crowley! I live about 4 miles from BEST BUY! I don't know what has happened to Best Buy in recent years. It used to be the go to place for electronics. The workers were enthusiastic and helpful but lately when I go in the workers are SO LAZY!!! They are in groups around the visiting and ignoring customers and god forbid you interrupt them and ask them to do their jobs. The check out workers are slow and obviously don't want to be there. Guess they don't realize how lucky they are working in an air conditioned store when they could be out in the hot sun like most in this area. I've had so many issues with this store for slow service to workers being straight up rude. I had to pick up some PlayStation controllers I ordered online. Both attendants were helping one customer. I walked up to the counter and mentioned I was just picking up the controllers and they were already paid for and the higher up employee was so rude and acted like I committed a mortal sin by asking her to grab my controllers for me and then was sarcastically nice when she did give them to me. It's just a huge bummer. I remember when the store opened and how excited everyone was to check it out and it's really sad how down hill it's gone. I don't know if it's a moral thing and maybe corporate just makes it impossible to be happy working there, but they gotta work on it. read more

I've been using Best Buy for years now for video games simply because Game Stop is garbage and Play N Trade is too far from my house. I've never had a bad product, not once! No matter the age or type of game, the disks are always in pristine condition without even a scratch! Great costumer service (at least at my store) and amazing curbside assistance. He knew everything we needed to know and more about our vent hood search. He researched and found just what we needed as far as looks, sound and price. I'll never buy anything from them again. I bought a $3,000 laptop from best buy. Shortly after it messed up. I bring it in under warranty and they send it off for "2 weeks". When I go to pick it up, the corner is completely smashed in. They try to tell me it was already like that and I said no, it was brand new when I brought it in. The geek squad manager comes talk to me and said they'll send it off. Estimated wait is another 2 weeks. So far they've had it into 3 months. I can't get in touch with anyone that can give me any estimate on when I'll have it back. Worst customer support I've ever seen. Recently visited this store to buy some adapters and cables for home. I left with a new 4k tv and sound bar. Sales associate Derek did an excellent job of providing information and finding a way to reach a price range I needed to meet to make this purchase. I had visited earlier to look at tv's where I was educated by Arlington excellent knowledge about home theatres. On my most recent visit where I made the purchase Arlington was not there but Derek did an excellent job of working and educating me for over 3 hours before I made my $1500.00 purchase and now a proud best buy credit card member. In the past I have felt best buy to lack the flexibility needed in today's retail environment. I have noticed the recent change in attitude and competitive prices. I checked amazon and BB was always within a couple dollars while in the store. Good job BB on adjusting your mentality and strategy. I would go as far as to say it makes me consider a stock purchase since I am now believer you will do well this holiday season. read more

In May 2020 we dropped our son's laptop off for repair. They ran a diagnostic test and said that it just needed to be wiped and rebooted. A week later they called for pick up. The day that we picked it up, it had the exact same problem. (Cutting off and restarting for no apparent reason.) Returned to the store and they witnessed it cut off at the Geek Squad desk. At that time they said it would need to be sent off for repairs. A few weeks later, we got a call stating that the motherboard needed to be replaced. Paid almost $400 to have it replaced. After not hearing anything for over a month, we called and were told it had been shipped back to our store weeks before. We were never notified. Picked up the laptop and within a few days, began to experience the same issue. Called and was told that Geek Squad only was seeing people with appointments. Next appointment was beyond the 30 repair warranty date. Went into the store, and they were able to fit us in after we complained about the 30 day window. Sent it off again and was told the motherboard was bad and needed to be replaced again and that the internal power cord was an issue. Had to verify with the store that the motherboard was within the 30 day warranty because of the exceeded time window. It is now the end of November 2020. I just called and was told that they couldn't procure the needed part for the power issue and that the laptop was sent back to the store in mid October. We were never notified. read more

I received a battery operated corkscrew for Christmas and it did not work. I spoke with a family member that received the same corkscrew and she complained that she couldn't get hers to work. I returned both corkscrews to best buy and tried to explain to the 3rd grade educated ex-con that the items were gifts and I didn't have a receipt. Ms. customer service rep seemed extremely agitated when she began to growl at me that she couldn't help me because I didn't have a receipt. I hope best buy remains open for a very long time because I can't imagine someone with such a nasty attitude working anywhere else. Unfortunately, Best Buy will not receive my business!! read more
