This store is in the process of being closed but wanted to share a review of Best Buy in general. Total rip off. Go to Best Buy to look at what you think you want, write down or photo the item info and buy online. The entire reason brick and mortar businesses are declining is lack of knowledgeable sales people. I'll pay a bit more to be able to go in, be assisted in finding what I'm looking for and the sales person explains the features as well as comparisons. What I'm not willing to do is pay more to go into a store where the employees are talking amongst themselves, you have to be put on a waiting list to see one of the many employees doing nothing and wait 30 minutes for them to walk you around to where the items "should be". I can do that myself and save money buying online. Best Buy is like the Blockbuster of yesteryear. They have a corner on the market as a big box electronics store so don't care about customer service. They too will go out of business due to the changing market place, inability to staff with sales people vs kids and still charging a high price. The two stars are for being able to go in and look at what you think you want and then buy elsewhere. read more

This store totally is why Amazon is doing so good. The customer service lacked 100%. I had called corporate customer service and spent a half hour explaining why I needed to return a unused computer. All I wanted was an exchange. I did not want money back. After spending time with corporate customer service and they sent 2 emails to the manager to call me which he never did so I went to the store. The girl assistant manager stood their and would not exchange the product nor would she help me out with some kind of discount towards another computer. She did not care if I was happy or would even shop there again. Do yourself a favor and support other electronic places like ABT, Microcenter and Amazon. I will NEVER shop at Best Buy again. read more

No service, no products, no selection, no value, no parking, and in fact no store. It had closed quietly and is gone without a trace. Best buy needs to get it together if they want to stay in business. Yelp needs to be on the ball to delist places when companies close their locations. read more

Came into this location searching for iPhone accessories after purchasing a new phone. I ended up working with Sierra and she was very informative and helpful regarding various accessories. I really appreciated her knowledge and personal experience / information regarding accessories and their usefulness, and her kindness and patience explaining things to me. I think the store is clean, spacious, and well laid out. Will be sure to shop here again. Happy Shopping! read more

Our neighborhood tech store. This is our go to for everything electronic. Need the latest greatest phone, tablet, pc, tv, etc. There's a great "lounge" for your spouse and/or kids to sit and wait, I mean view the big TVs. Nice comfy chairs and a cozy corner of the store with employees to keep their eyes on you. Refill please. Oops, sorry, wrong store. All kidding aside, this store has whatever you need or want. Their expert employees are in all departments awaiting your questions. They are very kind and always knowledgeable. Ask away and they will answer the best they can in hopes that you buy something. See what I did there? You can even buy your new phone there and have it activated with your cellphone company of your choice. Walk away with a new device and it's already set to use. We've been shopping here for years. Always come away happy. read more

So Yeah, my husband and I just left there after trying to exchange something for store credit only that costs well over $100 and customer service "Bryin" spoke to my husband very disrespectfully and said they will not do that without a receipt. My husband and I both just wanted store credit for my son because it was a gift for his birthday that he couldn't use. We did not ask for anything other than an store credit. As I was listening I asked "Bryin" why they can't do store credit since the package hadn't been open? and "Bryin" got indignant, rolled eyes at me and said "we just don't". So I asked to speak with the manager. Bryin turned around at me and said "OK, but he's going to tell you the same thing." I told Bryin I did not care, that I still wanted to speak with the manager. Bryin there in customer service development more of an attitude as Jason who is supposedly the manager comes over and approves the transaction! So to my surprise I said to manager Jason and Bryin "oh I didn't think that could be done, because we could have saved all the disrespect and attitude by your employee had they listened to begin with. After that Bryin caught a diva attitude and mumbled derogatory statements to both my husband and myself. When I got clearly upset, the so called manager Jason came back over to customer service and denied our transaction because of his ego and then we were asked to leave. GLADLY WILL NEVER GO INTO ANOTHER BEST BUY! Now I understand all the horrible reviews on social media and why Best Buy can't stay in business. read more

Best Buy - Algonquin - This is Best Buy's gifts policy. However, this is false advertisement. BUYERS BEWARE! - Computers Near Me - Algonquin, Illinois

After my most recent experience with Best Buy, I have no desire to return. We are remodeling our house and need a new fridge, stove, microwave, etc. We started first with a fridge we like, but the color we want would take more than a couple months to come back in stock and be delivered. We decided to go with the next best option, but after paying nearly $2k for a new fridge, the delivery person showed up on the scheduled day, but had a damaged open box item. The hoses for the water supply were (literally) cut meaning it would never be able to hook up without repair. Best Buy store in Algonquin doesn't take calls directly, everything goes through a 'national call center'; however, the people in that center are friendly but fairly useless in resolving problems. First the system needs additional time to update, then the person can't help and I get transferred from one department to another only to be given a reference number. I am no longer a customer, I'm now apparently a "case number". The company made a mistake , but it has now become my responsibility to work on resolving it. Giving a customer homework to fix your mistake isn't right. If Best Buy made the mistake, why can't they take responsibility and fix it. Why do customers have to keep jumping through hoops, waste time out of our days on hold and keep persisting to push forward so you can get a sale. As of right now, I have been sitting on hold for an hour and 10 minutes still waiting to speak with someone as the call back function doesn't seem to work. The website won't let me do anything, customer service keeps transferring me, no one has a solution except for one.......SHOP ELSEWHERE! I am tired of calling Best Buy day after day. With Amazon and other companies that will without question 9/10 times replace an item and move on without jumping through hoops, I have no desire to take anymore business to Best Buy. I plan to cancel my order and simply go elsewhere. read more

I want to start the New Year off by saying a BIG HELLO to my Charlotte NC, and surrounding area NC Yelpers from Huntley IL!! (It is about an hour and a half outside the city of Chicago). My husband and I are here celebrating the holidays, and our birthdays with my family, and our friends. Within all of the celebration my husband decided that it was time that I got a new phone, mine was paid off, and well frankly it was driving me crazy, with intermittent hangups. The phone was not very old, as phones go, we are Apple people it was an 8+. Whether it was the phone or my service, who knows, and we had a rough year, much like everyone else in the world; a little retail therapy was in order. Walking into the Algonquin Best Buy, there is a sign that says "Please check in here." We waited for the employee to be finished with the person she was with and checked in. I feel the need to add, not everyone "checks in" like asked (this bothers me but I am just like that lol). We did not have to wait long, Sierra came up to us right away as we received a text notice, and were browsing the phone selections. Sierra was amazing, she was the most patient person I have met in retail! This is saying something, my husband is in the Car Company business, and I have worked many many years in retail before becoming disabled. The entire transaction took...Wait for it.... FOUR HOURS!!!!! This was due to the content on my husbands phone, the transfer of it was ridiculous at best! Yet Sierra remained pleasant, polite, conversational, and engaged the entire time! I wandered in and out, and was conversing with another employee at the door about North Carolina and what it is like there, his friend just moved to the state. I did not find one single rude employee in the store, maybe it was because it was just after Christmas, who knows, but this experience was amazing, and that team was stellar! Especially Sierra! read more

I hope they go under , they won't get my business anymore Asked about a $50 credit that was applied to my Best Buy account, when I opened a credit account. I needed a dash cam installed in my car, which I've had done at this Best Buy location in the past. I tried calling the store to set up an appointment and got transferred around from person to person for the good part of 25 minutes, most of which I was on hold. In the end I never did speak to the correct person so I decided to drive to the store and set up the appointment in person. When I arrived at the store there was a person at the front entrance with a guide rope that kept anyone from entering the store. Think of a bouncer at the entrance of a nightclub. He wouldn't let me in until I told him why I was there. Really? What business is it of his? Maybe I just want to browse?! Finally, he lets me in and off to the counter I go to set up an appointment. When I try to set up an appointment here's how the conversation goes: Me: I'd like to set up an appointment for a dash cam installation. Employee: We no longer do that you'll have to go to another location that does that. Me: Okay...can you tell me where that location would be? Employee: Um, I think you have to go to Schaumburg. Me: Could you call the Schaumburg location for me? Last time I tried setting up an appointment it took 25 minutes and I still didn't speak to the correct person. Employee: No, we don't do that. Me: Why not? I had a really bad experience on the phone already trying to set up an appointment with Best Buy. Could you just try? Employee: No (then a long blank stare) Talk about crappy customer service! The day Best Buy closes is the day I pop open a bottle of champagne to celebrate. I bought a dishwasher to replace my Maytag. Decided on a Samsung. Installers came. Opened the bottom took one look and said ...not going to fit, you cant use Samsung, LG, Bosch. I said is this unusual. They said no, "happens all the time. if you have an open bottom dishwasher you need another open bottom dishwasher. If you have Maytag, Kitchen Aid, GE then stick with those open bottom models. That's why we didnt even take it out of the truck. We'll take it back call tomorrow afternoon and the return should be in the system. After calling multiple times the next day i finally got advice to go to the shop around 3 as it should be in the system by then. Went to the store. Got the manager. suggested that his sales team ask some simple questions when they sell a dishwasher, like what model do you have now? Oh its Maytag, then be careful Samsung isnt open bottom and might not fit. Then after picking out a new machine i said. so i get credit for my old machine. yes the Manager took care of that. I said lets verify because this receipt says i just spent another $1000. Ohh your right he didnt do it. You'll get a refund in a couple of days. a week later i check my best buy account, no refund. i called up they said it looks like they hit the wrong buttons in the store. I give this store a 1 start but overall speaking to friends there is a general feel that Best Buy in general has gone downhill. You really need to research stuff yourself. I was buying security camera's from Arlo the other day. Bough a 3 camera set. do you have the hub sir. The web site says i dont need a hub. You need a hub sir. I said, i'll give it a shot without it. He then says do you have the mounting brackets. It comes with them i said. OK sir, if you want to waste your time that's fine with me. installed the cameras with the brackets that came in the box and connected them directly to my phone without a hub. What annoyed me more than the guy not knowing what he was talking about was how confident he was that he thought he knew what he was talking about. I always say, there's nothing worse than a confident idiot. read more

I seriously changed my $1,000+ order to pick up all the way in Arlington Heights because service is rude here. I ordered online where same day pick up was offered and they did not honor it. Needed a printer cartridge. Talked to the sales associate. She said if it was the wrong one, I could bring it back. It was wrong. Brought it back. The staff that works here really isn't helpful at all. I was looking for Pop Up buttons for iPhones and when I asked a team member to help, he vaguely pointed me in the direction without much detail. Stay far far away.... Has an issue with a recent TV purchase, after spending almost $8k here over the past 3 years and they would do nothing...they obviosously do not care about their customers and are all robots to the 'Rules & Regulations'. As most of us know, there are always things companies can do to make it 'right' and this Best Buy especially does not. I should have listened to my wife and continued to utilize Amazon and other electronic stores. To take it to a whole different level, stay away from Tim the assist manager - he was rude, disrespectful and make's you feel 'beneath' him. So I had a bit of a disaster today when I spilled an entire cup of coffee on my computer keyboard. I have a Mac, and not having the funds or the time to wait for an Amazon box to deliver my new sexy, sleek Apple product, I drove to Best Buy. I wandered around in the computer department for a little longer than I should have before being asked if I needed help, which no one did, when I finally approached one of the Geek Squad dudes. I asked him if he could point me in the direction of a USB keyboard, preferably one that didn't cost too much. He led me over to their selection and pointed to one. I thanked him, and then asked if it was compatible with my Mac. He said he didn't know. He. Didn't. Know. Isn't that kind of your job, Mr. Geek? Then when I pressed and asked if he could check, he was just like "well, you could always return it if it doesn't work." ....what? Really?! As a former BBY employee, I was disappointed in how disengaged the employees appeared in this store. The LP guy in yellow at front (oriented me almost 13 years earlier) wasn't even all that engaging - I know he's just counting the days til he can get his retirement package and good for him. I spent probably a good 30-45 mins hovering around the wireless area looking at the Samsung phones waiting for the associate to become available to answer my questions... I was actually ready to drop over $500 for a new phone. I don't know if it was because I was with my teenage niece and younger nephews that no one bothered to approach me and see if they could help me - but it definitely was not the customer service I remember being trained for when I was an employee. Too bad people are no longer motivated to keep their store open or have any pride in themselves or the work they do. Oh and let me finish painting the Picture of when I was standing in line to pay with exactly one register open - what happened to someone at customer service helping to ring out customers? The cashier was an older lady and a bit slow with the register - and there was someone who looked like a manager sitting slouched in a chair sitting at the desk to the right of the check out line. We went to Best Buy to check out tablets and walked out an hr later with a Microsoft Surface AND a PS4! Lou's lucky next weekend is Fathers Day! Everyone in the store was very friendly and we were greeted immediately in the computer/tablet section and offered assistance. Heather helped us and she deserves 5 stars! The 3-star rating is for Best Buy's return policy and protection plans! Heather talked me through the difference between the Microsoft surface and the iPad Air, which I was very torn between. I had to decide whether I needed more of a computing device to replace lugging my laptop to and from home/work, or a tablet, which is basically a bigger version of my iPhone. She was very knowledgeable, very patient and helped us out in every way she could. I did not appreciate the constant costs being added to every product for the protection plans! I believe that if you sell me something and it breaks within a reasonable amount of time... Longer than 14 days... That you should replace it. However every item we bought, we had to decide between 1, 2, or three year protection plan that added well over $300 to our bill! All that said, we are still happy with our purchases and Heather was great! read more

We came back the following day with him. The service representative who told us he needed to come in did not look at us. I ran into a fraud related matter and was instructed to go to the store where I purchased the product and speak with the store manager. I called the store prior to driving there, the individual who answered the phone instructed me to bring in my receipt along with my concern and head straight to the customer service desk. There should be no problem with resolving the problem. I did as instructed and learned they were short handed and redirected me to a check out. Explain the situation and asked for the store manager. Mikey Peters approaches and introduce him self as the store manager. Not long into the conversation I realized Mikey is in capable of comprehending the issue at hand. He was relatively abrasive and to a degree rude. I asked to speak with someone at the next level Mikey said that would be Best Bu's corporate office. He said he could provide the phone number and an email address for corporate. I asked him to provide it, he walks to the back office, returns in 5 minutes and provides me with the customer service 800 number. I reminded him that he was to provide the corporate information, his response, there is no contact information for corporate. I asked for his business card and left. When I looked at his business card, I learned that Mikey was not the Store Manager, he was the Sales Supervisor. I think Best Buy needs to re-evaluate or re-train Mikey.
